wow, this is incredible, i would mind if you keep the program to yourself for now and keep hosting a server, it makes all the manpower concentrade and get awesomes results.
that was one of the most amazing things i've ever seen O.O amazing :tongue.gif: if it can render live, we can use it to monitor servers :biggrin.gif: lol would be epic, Kudos :tongue.gif:
Not only timelapses, but also great server/map previews. Because of fog limits, it's impossible to get such a clear look at the map from a screenshot.
Precisely my thoughts! If this could somehow be a server script, and be constantly updating image (live feed) on the internet, it would be great for forum pages where people post links to their servers!
Dunno if this would be able to load from the server.
Maybe this could save into the GUI folder thingy so a tiny image of the server would appear on the screen?
Pretty much every mapsize loads in under a minute (which is the server save time) when not using super high quality tilesets. Could push it faster with gifs.
So I guess I'll post a very very basic version on saturday or something.
i have a client that has a above view of the map in a separate window. along with other player positions. sadly i had to modify the WoM client to do it so i don't want to release. i tried emailing WoM to see if they wanted the code so they could incorporate it but i have heard nothing.
here is a screen shot of it in use. there are still some bugs with very large maps. this map is 256x256. if u view the image alone you can enlarge it. if u look in the bottom left of map u will see a red dot with the words "you". that's what players look like. it updates player position real time but map is updated every 10-20 seconds.
Really looking forward to seeing this released. I hope it comes with a cool timelapse feature like in your video. Being able to look through each layer would also be awesome.

Yay, on my road! :biggrin.gif:
I also love how the road explodes, then the fire gets extinguished and fixed.
And the road going down into the ground looks great. :biggrin.gif:

And that timelapse that Notch posted was really neat. Yeah, the coaster worked just perfectly.:smile.gif:

It would be possible to show the player walking around? If with gif stays a little faster, could be usefull to watch griefers at surface level.
