I'm currently in the planning phase of my mod and currently I'm stumped with a certain feature.
The mod is all about mining, adding different ores/minerals and gems.
Problem is I'm planning to have an addon for this mod which allows the crafting of tools and armour.
The one material I'm stuck with is Emerald. And I really need some ideas on how to get around this.
Since emeralds are easy to farm and search for, I don't want players skipping mining tiers by going to a village and trading.
The ideas I've had are listed:
Make the tools require blocks instead of the normal gem. (This seems like a lazy way around this and doesn't really solve the problem).
Make a custom way to make each tool (since having it only be required for one tool would be odd.) (I've already got another mod in the works to make a new tool system so then this kind of defeats that purpose.)
Make the villagers use coins or some other item for trading. (Seems like the most sensible approach but not sure if this would fit a mining mod and I'd like to put this feature in another mod again.)
So these are the ideas I've had and came up with but all have their drawbacks sadly. I'm literally stuck when it comes to this one material and I don't want to leave it out to me having Ruby, Sapphire and Amethyst tools already planned and I'd like to keep them.
If you have any ideas for this I'd love to hear them. (I do think the villagers using another item might be best but I'm just seeing if there's other options.)
