Michael_Corvus, not noticed, sorry. I think it is a good idea, but not with current statue. Later I will add more variations, and maybe such kind of mob.
Gotcha. I do feel like their should be some demonic elements, given things like wither skeletons and zombie pig man exist. Perhaps a backstory on why the pig man population become zombified? Perhaps it would have something to do with the wither skeletons presence, like the wither corrupted them. Just a suggestion.

Not to mention that the nether IS hell, after all, it's biome ID IS HELL!
polomitics, I thought about lore of nether civilization and the backstory of pigmans. As short — they became victims of their own ambitions and black magic, that they used to create powerful weapons. I think, that wither skeletons, for example, are also results of this magic influence. I don't want add lore directly, but I will add some small game elements, that will point it (especially in cities, for now they are just big structures).
Were they banished to the nether for it, or were they already there? I'd like to think they used to live in the overworld. Like maybe the same force that made the monsters, and people into undead; made the pigmen into zombie pigmen. Taking their souls and storing them in soulsand, and the monsters without flesh (magmacube, guardian, blaze, slime, etc...) . That's why the wither is so powerful.
Looks like the Illagers are going on the same path as the pigmen did. Greedy, and doing dark magic. Kind of ironic that the Evoker can bring the souls from the soulsand back.
Loving the look of this mod and can't wait to use it! Will you be adding configs to enable/disable different building/shrine types and change the frequency the worldgen buildings and villages generate at?
I really love this mod after me discovering it for the first time today. But the one problem that i have right now is that the Large and Small Nether Tiles breaks immediately and not drop anything (same goes for the small tile stairs but not the slab nor wall). I assume that you haven't added the Hardness and block drops yet. But it's really annoying when you're trying to kill mobs in the cities and you just accidentally breaking the floor.
Also can i say how much the walls look so good in this mod. Great job on that! by the way.
Found another bug while playing in survival. I break some of the Stalagnate and it drops the seeds and stuff. But some of the dropped seeds appear to be a visual glitch that makes them unable to be picked up. I'll let you know if i find any more glitches and bugs while playing in survival.
As i see mod looks great, feels like you put much effort in it. And i also see you havent yet made a plant to grow on a soul sand, so, may i suggest something like Twisted Trees? Thin, slim, covered same way soul sand is covered with "faces", maybe with soul sand grains growing on them as for an item drop? Or something else that is dark and hellish. Maybe blaze rods, hanging from tops of their twigs same way willows hang their leaves

I don't want to bring back a dead topic, but I am in love with this mod and wanted to add it to my 1.7.10 pack... except for the fact that this mod is not for 1.7.10. Got any plans to backport it to that version?
This is an amazing mod! It really brings some life into the Nether - I love how you've added everything you need to comfortably live there. The Respawner Statue I especially enjoy.
After playing for several hours trying to live entirely in the Nether, I have a few questions and suggestions.
Will more tools be added? Cincinnasite Shovels and Nether Reed bows would be extremely useful, as well as arrows (Flint from Gravel + Nether Reed + ?). Torches from Nether Reed would also be awesome.
Are bone mushrooms just a decorative block? Harvesting them only gets more spores, and not the mushroom itself.
Rotten Flesh to Leather mods are great for getting that rare resource in the Nether, but String is still an acquirable material. Once upon a time a mod called Cordage let players cut rotten flesh into Sinew, which could then be made into String. Sadly this is no longer up-to-date - would you consider adding this functionality into your mod?
Overall its a fun experience living in the Nether with these new additions
Oh man, I was entirely missing the bonemeal being added to my inventory! My bad!
I've been really enjoying the mod and love finding all the structures throughout my game; you've clearly put a lot of thought and care into them. I've two questions, though.
Are the blaze spawning rooms with loot supposed to be underground, or do I have some terrain generation conflict? They're damn hard to find - I only happened upon one by accident when it got rendered before the ground did.
I've Nether portal generation off, but your Nether portal frames are absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to set them up to generate using Simple Portal blocks and achieve something like this. Is there an easy way for me to change that myself? If so, what is a respectful way to implement that modification if I end up using it in a public-released modpack?
In my mind these structures really fit your lore ideas of a society dabbling in magic before a fall from grace.
Blaze rooms were designed as simple underground dungeons (it was first attempt to create underground dungeon type). I will add more such dungeons later.
Structures that my mod generates are simple minecraft nbt structure files, exported from game with structure blocks. They could be replaced in mod ".jar" file, or used in another way. Location of these files is "assets/betternether/structures", you can see it in mod's GitHub.
did you notice my mob suggestion and just haven't commented on it or...? not tryna be rude just wanna know

acanthea, frequency of buildings will be in next release.

ButterScotchSweet, thank you for your feedback. I will fix drop and breaking speed in next version (nobody report this before, thanks)

Probably not blazerods, that would defeat the purpose of blazes. Smoldering limbs?

Sir_GoodBoy_the_XI, I will think about it. May be not blazerods, but something also useful.

mirrormonster, actually no.

Drahkovi, more tools will be added later. Bone mushroom is a source of bonemeal when it is adult. String will be possible to obtain from new plants.
