Welcome to the Official Thread for Tangled (Arachnids & Silk) Mod. The idea behind this mob, the ideal concept came from enjoying spiders in Minecraft. However, all they do is jump on the player and occasionally climb walls (not in the way we would like to them crawl on walls). Tangled (A&S) is the end result of a complete rework on the Minecraft Vanilla Spiders. Not only will it add more content, it will also allow players to enjoy & be afraid of the spiders. Arachnaphobes may not deserve this kind of mod as it may or may not give them nightmares. But for the lovers of spiders, the aracnhid-fans who enjoy their presence in-game may want this overhaul as it will certainly add the "creepiness" to the Mob that doesn't get enough attention.
Vanilla Spider Overhaul
Starting off with the Vanilla Spider in Minecraft; I wanted to share with you the changes that this mod would bring to its behavior. Now, there is a chance that the Vanilla spider will be replaced by this mod using a different model customly designed with more animations. However, if this isn't the case; the new spider with just be a new mob to avoid confusion. Getting right into the heart of this mod with the spider's changed behaviors:
- Spiders will be able to spawn during the day-time, and added to this will be a Life-Cycle. This mob will do different actions at different ticks. Half a day will result in the spider forming a web. There will be several structures that it will choose from (not the spider, the mod itself) and that web will then be the structure spawned into the world at the spider's location. If the spider collides with the structure, this will start the next stage: Spider Nest.
Nesting phase will result in the mob hiding in its web until a player collides with the web. If a player walks through the web, the spider will awaken and try to pounce on the player. If the player lands in the web trapped falling through, it will gain a speed boost & run towards the player from its web.
IF the player is more careful and happens to stumble across a web structure, the player will be able to build up & break some of the web. What makes this mod interesting is its use of a 2nd block: (Silk) - This silk or (Web) will be broken by using a sword on it just like Cobwwebs. The difference is that most of the web will be made of this & if broken it will create a new sound: (Spider Screeching) - this is just to add to the ambience of encountering a spider using this mod.

The aim of this mod is not just create a chilling world of spiders, it's to also bring the fear into the hearts of the players. The new model will remain close to Minecraft's modelling style but will add some new animated changes; fangs animated, legs slightly more bendy, and eyes that will now close. The use of the closing eyes will allow the different type of spider to hide in darkness. As I said above previously that the spider will awaken. This adds to the fear of the spider as seeing the eyes was already an easy way to spot a spider in a cave. Well, now you need to be more careful. The idea of the spider being in a sleeping phase was inspiration from the Minecraft bats on how they hang on the ceiling almost in a sleeping phase. On top of the new model, the spider will also have a chance of firing a (web block) that acts like cobweb but thicker & slowing the player down more. The spider will fire this using the physics of sand block pushed by an explosion in the air. Once it lands, a web block will be created in place of where it lands.
Different Types of Webs (World Generation)
Starting off with the different types of webs are the ones that are less dangerous to come across:
Orb Weaver Web - this web is simply a structure creation of a circular web (as close to a circle as you can get in Minecraft) - it's not too dangerous.
House Spider Web - this type of web is more sheet-like, it will be found as webbing more on the surface or slightly out of caves.
Tree Web - looking up from below you will be able to see sheets of webbing that almost blocks the sunlight. Only dangerous if you fall into it.
Cave Web - found at the entrance of some caves, you may come across this web that is full of spiderlings at the very bottom of the cave's end.
Ravine Web - Highly risky, and if you are unfortunate enough to fall into this (prepare yourself for sinking quicker & almost killed by suffocation)
Web Behaviors: Suffocation (If a player is in Cobweb for too long, the player will start to take damage along with a new debuff: Suffocation)
Some webs can be very weak due to being around for too long. Spiders will create new webs if their old webs are destroyed. (Not insantly)- Spiderlings will only begin to hatch when there is enough darkness in the spider's burrow / web / hiding place.
Types of Spiders
Vanilla Spider - Possibly soon to be changed to "Jumping Spider" but this may or may not happen & will become its own mob instead.
Orb Weaver Spider - Slightly different in shape & body form, but be warned that these spiders have the ability to use an attack: Wrapping.
House Spider - As the name suggests it will usually find its way into your home, but it mostly lives out in the Overworld making messy webs.
Trapdoor Spider - This one will be a more difficult mob to implement, but it will be added sometime in the future: the plan is to make it walk around & once it turns to Night, it will begin its burrow. Simply 4x4 blocks dug out to certain depth. Once this happens, it will become a structure. The mob will despawn & appear at the bottom of the burrow. If a player walks on the blocks above it, the spider will rise out of the ground & try to kill you with its Lethal bite that is full of venom. Each spider has different venom amounts (and it all depends on the type of spider & the biome it lives in)
Water Spider - Possibly renamed as something else (Work In Progress) in the future. Example: Aqua Spider. As the name suggests it can only be found in Oceans. Near the very bottom of an Ocean you may find webbing that will pull the player down very quickly, its strategy is to bring the player down to the abyss of the Ocean and once the player tries to swim out or find an air pocket (it may be too late)- the Water Spider also has the ability to grapple a player towards it using its Webbing. So, a player could rather drown or end up dinner if they try to swim away without caution.
Arachnid Grab - If you are unfortunate enough to be grabbed by a spider, you will have no choice but to rather spam click hitting it hoping to make it drop you. (Be warned that if you do break free from a spider's grab, you will find that the spider becomes enraged, this allows it to gain buffs & to have a stronger chance of taking you down)
World Generation: Silk Strands, Webs, Structures, Cobwebs, Web Blocks, Decayed Web, Aged Webs, Weak Webs, Strong Webs, Cocoons, Spider Eggs, Eggsacs, Dead Spider Corpses, 3D Models:Skeletons, Skulls, Bones, Cocoons, Webbed-Up Mobs, Cobweb (Variations), Dried Blood (Maybe)...
On-Death: IF the player dies to any Spider in this mod - You will actually be able to find your corpse (Cocooned Corpses)- Exactly, just like how the Graveyard Mod works, I wanted to add a way for you to collect your items lost on death. I always thought it would be a cool idea if the player could go back to that spider's burrow or wherever the spider is located & find their webbed up corpse to retrieve their items back. HOWEVER, I also wanted to add the option of it being possible to not regain your items. If you are unfortunate enough & have been caught by a higher risk spider; that spider has a chance to inflict a behavior that won't show in visuals. There is a % chance of your corpse being replaced with a (Parasite Corpse) also known as: (Host Corpse) this will result in your items being lost (or what I might add is allowing your items to be picked up by the Spiderlings that hatch, having to kill them to regain all your items back) (Maybe...) So, it's possible for your corpse to be a Host. Spiderlings will hatch and due to them getting a far better meal- they will gain a Buff known as: "Faster Growth".
