Have you ever found yourself having to eat food in minecraft but realized you have eaten cooked beef for over 670 days straight? Well those days have come to an end, Amazing FoodStuffs and Other Essentials adds over 10 million hours of food related gameplay guaranteed! So without further ado, buckle up, and lets jump into this as its a tad long.
All ceremony and hyperbole aside, this mod adds many food stuffs, as is evident in the title. With different types of bread, buns, rolls, cheeses, vegetables, condiments, and spices, the combinations are nearly endless.
That image isnt very good, all of the assets were made by my texture maker Varitek, the image doesnt do the sandwiches justice. It is also just a small preview of the types of sandwiches made available by this mod, each item is individually textured and coded to match the ingredients in the sandwich, and each have their own recipe. At this point this mod adds over 200 sandwiches, without all features and items implemented. With white buns, wheat buns, pumpernickel buns, white and wheat bread, white rolls, different vegetables including
lettuce, tomato, onion, cheeses like provolone, cheddar and muenster, meats including
tenderized beef, chicken, fish, tofu and pork, even meatballs for a nice meatball sandwich.
There are plans to add many more vegetables, meats and variations
for the sandwiches. Along with that, more food in general will be added, ive started with
sandwiches but soon there will be pizzas, tacos, soups, salads for all you fiber nuts, and much more (of course with the same level of customization).
I know what you're all thinking, "great just re-skin some sandwiches a bunch of times....fun." Well thankfully the Food Gods have thought of this, each food item has its own benefits and drawbacks relative to each other, so a sandwich with a wheat bun, beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese will fill you up and last longer than a sandwich with just beef and cheese for example. Each individual ingredient is also edible, but wont do as much for you, so you'll have to weigh the materials of a larger item vs convenience of a simple item, decisions, decisions. Also beware of raw meats, you might find they cause some health issues (especially if you continually eat them ;D)
The Little Things
They say that love is the spice of life....well my life gets its spice from garlic, but some people
may like oregano, paprika, cinnamon etc. Luckily you will be covered as well! Spices are mostly there for show and maybe a slight change in taste, but some add a little kick you might not be expecting. Maybe one day you decide to be like me and add some garlic to your grilled white bread, lettuce, tomato, onion, provolone and pastrami sandwich, interesting things may happen as you see your breath killing local flora, things aren't all bad though, some mobs don't like bad breath either. Who blames them.
Any good chef has their tools of choice, this mod adds many new tools that are essential for
creating the perfect meal. Of course theres the simple knife, best used for cutting vegetables and other small items. Then you have the meat knife, as the name suggests, this tool is best used for cutting up those juicy meats to be put onto your delicious foods. Next we have the tenderizer, the perfect mallet for perfectly tenderizing the meat of your choice. The last tool ill share is the meat baller, (we get right to the point when we name our tools), this is used to turn certain meats into spherical spheres of meat balliness, these go great on a hoagie roll, but arent bad on a bun if you dont mind the mess.
Throughout your travels you might decide to seek greater meaning in life, to reach beyond this
world of normal amazing food, and move on into.......omnipotent foods. If you get enough
resources you will be able to summon the God Cibus, you will be able to obtain special things
from this deity, including invulnerability spices, and special wands, which may be used to
ward off hunger, or even with the mighty wand....vanquish hunger completely. Speaking of hunger, watch out, as the Titan Fame lurks in the darkness, waiting, waiting for you to run out of food. Without the mighty wand, he will never be defeated, and will never go away.
Now, this may seem like a lot, fortunately this mod comes with a recipe book, detailing
how to make every item contained within the mod, i havent started working on that yet
so i dont have any spoilers to give you at this time, however ill update this post once i have
the recipe book started.
In the end this mod is larger than it looks because of the specific things that can be made within the mod itself. This is a large project for me and while ive been playing minecraft since 2010, this is my first shot at putting my coding skills to use within mc. Ill take this opportunity to get serious for a second and tell you a bit about the present and future of this mod. I am developing it on 1.9.4 and plan to update it to 1.10.2 and beyond, ive developed it on 1.9.4 on purpose and i can be more specific about that at a different time. This mod will contain a lot of crops, and i havent made those yet, so the first build (depending on when i release it) may not have the crops implemented yet, but they are coming, as they are important to the core of the mod. Many of the items within it, for example the cheese, will have to be made by the player using milk, heat and curd, all things that are currently in this version, however again, the crops arent there so atm curd is uncraftable. For getting things like pastrami or different cuts of steak i will include a custom "crafting table" to manipulate the meats in different ways, or maybe an added drop for certain mobs, i havent decided yet. I intend to make this mod as big and expansiveas i can, including as many foods and culinary items as is possible so please help me out and suggest food items and other blocks and tools and anything food related really, as it will help me add to this mod and make it exactly what you the players would want and expect out of a fully fleshed out mod. Thanks for reading this huge post and i hope you like my idea.
P.S. Ive edited a couple of the spoilers to make the images a bit easier to see, for some
reason photoshop keeps feathering the images in a way that makes them
super blurry, but dont worry the original items and blocks are still in their good quality form within the game, just unfortunate that the posts images turned out like that.
P.P.S. There will be a config as soon as i can get around to making one, to disable
certain items or effects of certain items, as i know some of the negative effects arent
P.P.P.S (This is getting annoying) Thanks to Varitek (Varitek3rulz3) for making the textures even though i screwed up the quality in this post.
