It's been a while since I have given an update, so I thought I'd give a little information.
I have been really busy lately with finals and the holidays, so I haven't had a lot of time to work on the mod. However, progress will soon resume and new features are being added.
During the past few weeks, a new defensive ability has been added to Earthbending: the wall! This will create a temporary wall which blocks attacks and entities.
Screenshots:
A wall blocking an arrow
There is a cobblestone wall with a gap under it. The bounding box has been adjusted so players can walk right underneath it.
Walls avoid picking up any unbendable blocks, as well as blocks under those.
Collision boxes in better view
From a technical perspective, creating this wall was especially a challenge. Minecraft does not support rectangular bounding boxes (different width/length), and since the wall is rectangular, I had to take a different approach than just 1 entity. In one wall, there are actually 5 wall segments, which each handle collisions.
There was also the problem where unbendable blocks could be picked up. To solve this, walls avoid picking up any blocks that are non-bendable, and also do not pick up any more blocks under it. (You can see that in the 3rd picture) They also automatically calculate bounding boxes, so if there is a gap under the wall, you can actually walk right through it. However, this wouldn't work if there is a "donut hole" in the wall.
Also, offline support is coming to AV2. Currently, if you log in for the first time on AV2 and you are offline, Minecraft will crash This is due to the mod trying to determine your account's UUID via the internet and failing. I'm working to fix this by creating a temporary UUID which can be changed later into the "real" one when you get back online.
Finally, I would like to announce the inclusion of a new artist to the mod. More information will come later, but I'm very glad to have him.

Wow! Thanks for the update, I'm surprised you managed to get anything posted, as a lot of people are a) have insane hangovers, traveling with family, or c) recovering from school. So Well Done! Now since you have a new artist, you have less stress on your shoulders and can just focus on programming instead of drawing the art well

P.S. The earth wall looks amazing.
I meant b. instead of a sunglasses emoji.
Well.. I try to get things done. Unfortunately, many things got in the way, but I'm ready to start again...
And yeah, I'm very glad that I have an artist! I'm sure everyone's eyes will feel better too
Have to say, I'm happy for this mod. So much potential. =)
Can't wait for the Avatar State. =3
Great, thanks! By the way, when would you want the avatar state exactly? I'm planning on doing the next release on 7+ new abilities, and the next for Progression... but I'd be open to any ideas!!

Well I'd like the Avatar State to be added with the 7+ abilities. But if not, then the next update. It's your mod dude, so it's at your place.
Here is the 15th weekly update! It's been a while, but there is a lot of news...
First of all, which you guys are probably the most interested in, there are 2 new abilities for firebending and waterbending! This means there are now 4 abilities for waterbending and firebending, so new ones probably won't be added soon - the next update will get each bending up to 4 abilities. Keep in mind that they are probably going to be improved a bit over the following week...
Water Skating
Currently, waterbenders might be able to turn a lake into their weapons, but still can't fully take advantage of the water as a travel option. This ability aims to fix that by allowing waterbenders to run on top of water at a fast speed.
The current way it works is that when you activate the water skating ability, it will add a status control. The next time you step foot in water, you will start water skating. To stop, either get onto land or sneak. Or, whenever you are water skating, you can even stop by jumping, which will send you much higher than normal and can give a slight advantage after getting onto dry land.
Ready to water-skate. Note the indicator below the crosshair, which shows that you can begin water-skating.
Actually water-skating. The status control means that you can jump off to end skating.
Fireball
Another ability has been added to Firebending. I recently played AV2 with my brother and we had a few bending battles. We noticed that long-range combat is difficult since it's easy to dodge attacks. The Fireball lets you attack long-range better than most other abilities.
The controls are similar to a Floating Block or a Water Bubble; you can control its position by looking somewhere, and throw it by left clicking. The fireball will create a small explosion which damages nearby mobs/players (but not blocks) as well as create fires (obviously). It does not do quite as much damage as floating blocks, but the fire and explosion remain a threat.
The model for the fireball. Fully rotating... nice eh?
It's difficult to show the exact explosion of a fireball, but here is the approximate range of a fireball. Note that it's on the smaller size. Think a slightly bigger ghast fireball.
Misc. Tweaks and Fixes
Many of you will be glad to hear that there have been a few needed tweaks and fixes to gameplay/system issues. Here are a few...
- Fix water arc not working
- Fix air gust not working on multiplayer in LAN
- Grass blocks are bendable
- Fixed config files looking weird on Windows with Notepad
- Fixed /avatar config only refreshing ONE config file
- Adjusted default values to make certain abilities a bit less OP ( waaaaaaave! )

I actually built my own computer! I used to play games with my friends, but unfortunately the very old other computers couldn't handle any games (think: pentium processor). After investing for a year me and my brother finally saved up enough money to buy the parts.
I then put the parts together myself, and it wasn't actually too difficult. Just clip this hard drive into the rack, get the SATA data cable, check the manual, plug this into that, etc etc BOOM DONE. It did take a while to set up, but that was mostly because I kept accidentally unplugging those pesky front panel connectors...
Anyways I seriously recommend to anyone who's getting a new desktop PC, build it yourself! You can usually save money, a lot in extreme cases, and it's fun to make it yourself.

thanks for reading. The next update will definitely be out by the end of February, and probably MUCH sooner!!

cmoii212:The flamethrower thingy is a glitch, and the water arc is meant to do damage. The arc will be fixed in the next update, as well as the flamethrower (I think). Anyway, your suggestion of recharging would be really cool 😎, and I agree with the movement thingy. Don't worry, your English is understandable:)
Crows: Once the update comes out, this will be so fun to use against my brother and sister.

Edit: The rechargeable keybinds thingy is planned for a later update. For the Progression update (a3.0) it says 'special keybindings for an ability' which I guess is the same thing you suggested. And I like the 'specify power of bending'. It would be really nice, but it might take a while for Crows to do it, as it can be a pain to program.
Earth:
- thanks for the suggestion about floating blocks, I will make them faster!
- For now, ravine will be this way, but later a more powerful ravine might be an option...
Fire:
- Thanks for the ideas about the fire arc. I think it would be a good idea to make it more like a spear! I will eventually change fire arc since it is so similar to water arc.
- Flamethrower will be not infinite. The next next update will have chi, which prevents you from using abilities forever (like mana)
Water:
- Water arc is broken in the current version. The next update fixes that.
- Wave, if you can use correctly, can be devastating and quickly kill enemies. Building structures like a moat might help you get some kills.
Air:
- I like the air abilities too, thanks! There will probably be more attacks coming in the next update.
About the radial menu, because of your suggestions, I will be adding an option to make radial menu semi-transparent, and also clickable. You will also be able to create your own keybindings for an ability, to avoid using the radial menu.
Thanks for the suggestions! I have added them to my todo list, and will definitely implement them!! And your English is fine. People who speak English as a native language often make MANY more mistakes (myself included), so don't worry...
Thank you Crows for your answers . You're doing a amazing job so far, if I had more experience in Java and modding minecraft I would gladly help you but i'm still learning xD . Thank you again and see you for the next update then .
Thanks, I hope you enjoy this mod! I'm glad you're still coding, and hope you're having fun...would be happy to know what you have made so far! Once you're ready, send me an e-mail and you can help...
Can't wait for the next weekly update! Maybe you could give a more definite release date? (Sorry, I don't mean to rush you, I'm just really excited).
I think it would be a good idea to release soon. Probably 4 weeks, or less. Since I have mostly finished airblade, there are only 2 more abilities to add which hopefully takes 2 weeks. Then, 1 more week to polish and fix, and another week in case anything takes longer, so 4 weeks (2/12 ??). As we get closer to then, I will be able to give a more definite answer.
