Hello all. I have already been working with a team on a mod called Adventure Awaits. That mod is still in development, and coming along well. So, I was wondering if any creative minds out there would be willing to pull together and create a new mod. It would be similar to DivineRPG and Nevermine, while also showing unique new features, like a Boss Compendium (this is also a feature in Adventure Awaits :D). So, here are my plans for the mod so far:
There will be, in the 1.0 version of the mod, 3 new dimensions.
Frostivica
An ice themed world, literally serving as the polar opposite to the nether. There are 5 new naturally spawning mobs: the Ice Boar, the Yeti, the Frost Creeper, the Frozen Spider, and the Ice Worm. There is another mob that spawns in a small dungeon; the Snowstorm, which is an ice variant of the blaze, that shoots snowballs that cause slowness to the player.
The boss of Frostivica is Yeticor, a massive yeti that will use his strength to tear ice blocks from the ground, and throw them at you. He has a whopping 750 health, and has a variety of cool drops when killed.
Toxicio
Toxicio is a dimension that is dominated by green. The dimension looks rather sickly. Mutated, disgusting mobs roam this land, in search of fresh prey, which unfortunately in this case, is you. There are 5 new naturally spawning mobs: the Toxiclops, the Toxic Knight, the Toxic Bug, the Radiation Creeper, and the Mutated Zombie. There is another mob that spawns on top of a tower dungeon: the Poisoner. He will teleport around you, and toss poison potions at you.
The boss of Toxicio is Toxin. Toxin can best be described as a floating lich, that uses a staff to shoot toxic projectiles at you. He has 820 health, and will also teleport, on top of shooting you with his projectiles. He drops some unique items when slain.
Volcanus
Volcanus is a dimension based around, you guessed it, Volcanoes. The landscape is flat and molten, and pools of lava litter the ground. Large, magma-oozing volcanoes jut up from the ground. There are 4 naturally spawning mobs: the Molten Golem, the Furnace Monster, the Mellter, and the Lava Worm. All of them are fire resistant. There is one mob that spawns at the top of any volcano: the Lavafly. These guys will fly around you, and shoot fire charges at you.
The boss of Volcanus is Loki. Loki is a small, rather chubby, floating mage wearing red. He has a short, black beard and red robes, along with a neat red hat and a flame staff. He will either fly towards you and melee you with the staff, or will fly up and shoot you with fireballs. Loki has 875 health, and has some flame-resistant drops to reward you with upon defeating him.
Not only will EternalRPG introduce new dimensions, it will also introduce a magic system, powered on Soul Essence. Some of the bosses' drops are only relevant to the mages in the mod.
Anyone who contributes and helps with this mod will have room to make suggestions and will have the freedom to texture things the way they want to (I'll name off an item/weapon, and you can freely texture it the way you think it should look). Just PM me if you are interested in joining the EternalRPG team, or say so right in the replies to this post.
I feel like the mod should be based around 1.8.9 / 1.9. The only main reason why most other mods are still at 1.7.10 is because updating is extremely difficult. With new mods, however, I think it should begin at the more recent versions or else the modding community will be mostly stuck at 1.7.10 forever. I also think this would play well along with Journey Into the Light
One pro / con to 1.8 is the implementation of JSONS. They can be a nuisance sometimes, because you have to create a few for every block / item you make, but can also be extremely useful for custom item / block rendering without having to make fancy TileEntities.
I understand why you want to stay at 1.7.10, because DRPG and AoA are at this version. However, I actually know the owner of DRPG and he said that he eventually has plans to update to 1.9 or later.
If you can make it for 1.8.9 or 1.9, then I'd gladly help out with it a lot. 1.7.10 isn't really a version I'm used to, however, and I think the modding community will have to move on eventually.
