This mod aims to make survival mode easier by giving various blocks extra drops. For example:
Carrots and potatoes can be found in grass blocks
Pumpkin and melon seeds can be found in tall grass
Ancient bones can be dug up from the dirt
Leaves now drop some sticks
These are just a few examples, there are several more for you to find. Additionally, this mod also adds a crafting recipe to turn skulls into bone meal, and also allows you to cook PLANT poisonous potatoes!
Enjoy foraging
Changelog:
v1.0:
Initial release
v1.1:
Made potatoes more common.
Reduced the drop chance of sticks from leaves. Should reduce inventory clutter.
Added a small chance to get diamonds or emeralds from coal. A VERY small chance
Small cleanup of unnecessary parameters.
v1.2
Thanks to all the amazing people on the Minecraft forums, I was able to make poisonous potatoes plantable!
Because of this, poisonous potatoes are no longer cookable. Because as Thutmose pointed out, the poison in potatoes doesn't go away when cooked in real life.
Due to the large amount of time spent on the potatoes (largely due to my lack of much coding experience), I have christened this the 'Potato Update'.
Also, on a completely unrelated note: trees now drop EVEN FEWER sticks! Rejoice!
v1.3
No significant changes apart from a shiny new config file! Unfortunately, it is not editable in game, but it allows you to change pretty much all the things you could want to change.
v1.4
After taking a crash course in java, and much procrastination, I've finally updated the mod to 1.10.2!
I have no idea if this works in 1.10, 1.9.4, or indeed any other minecraft version.
I also don't know if there are any bugs anywhere.
Testing and feedback is much appreciated.
v1.5
The main feature of this minor update is that beetroots can now be found in grass blocks, just like carrots and potatoes.
Also, beetroot seeds can be found in grass.
I also cleaned up the code a bit to make it slightly more efficient.
v1.6
Another small update, this time all about bug-fixing.
Added checks to ensure that event code only executes server-side. If the mod didn't work in multiplayer, it probably will now.
Planting poisonous potatoes will now only work if the space above the farmland is empty, I.E. potatoes no longer consume torches.
Miscellaneous code cleanup.
v1.7
To celebrate 5,000 downloads, I've added the framework for adding blocks and items to foragecraft. While it isn't much to look at now, I have some scary plans for ya'll to crow at in October. Now, for the changes:
Large architecture changes
Added Stick Bundles, crafted with 9 sticks, 9 times more efficient than sticks as fuel.
Added Fascines (stick blocks), crafted with 9 stick bundles, 81 times more efficient than sticks as fuel. Can be placed in three different positions, like a hay bale
v1.8
It is with great pleasure that I announce that foragecraft is now open source! In addition, please welcome the first member of the team, SansIsTyping! If you want to contribute, check out the github! Now, on to the changes:
Added the Scarecrow in celebration of halloween! The scarecrow prevents mobs from spawning on farmland within a 128 meter cube. It also prevents bats from spawning anywhere within this cube, because I hate bats. Crafted like so:
A rather useful mods for easy fuel =) but is there any way to reduce the amount of sticks dropped? inventory gets full after 2-3 trees lol nevertheless it's awesome =)
Yeah, I may have gotten a little over excited with the sticks XD. I'm working on reducing their drop rate to 0-1 rather than 0-2. Also, I plan to later add a storage block for sticks, similar to a hay bale, called thatch.
This is a very simple yet useful mod, and I like the idea of it (I have it installed, but I didn't expermient with it at all yet).
I don't think the stick block should be called Thatch, as Thatch is another word for a building material simmilar to Hay Bales. Oh would you look at that... A Faggot is the word you are looking for... Not joking... A faggot is apparently the unit used to determine a bundle of sticks or rods in older english... So there is that...
EDIT: There is also a Fascine, a bundle of brushwood used in civil and military engineering.

I think you might be referring to Fagot in there, one G, otherwise it just sounds hilarious.
But it could just be called Bundle of sticks, imo.

Huh, you learn new things outside of school every day. Ill probably just call it a Stick Bundle, or something similar. Because calling it a fagot would probably break some sort of decency rule somewhere. Fascine is also an interesting name tho...

An event handler might do the trick. Something to look at for 1.2. Planning on keeping the cooking of poisonous potatoes for now, but may provide a config in the future, if I figure out how. I'm still somewhat new to this XD

There are many ways it has been written, but the modern one is with 2 g's.

Just a note for realism, the poison in potatoes doesn't go away when cooked. Otherwise, nice mod.

Interesting, didn't know. Still, its kinda lame that you cant use them for anything. Maybe I can make them plantable.
My first mod =D
making them plantable would make sense, potatoes often become poisonous when they start growing.

New version is live! I pruned the trees and MAY have sprinkled some gems into the world's coal supply.
Note: If the download widget doesn't give you the right version, try downloading from curse.com directly.

I did it mum! As of v1.2, poisonous potatoes are plantable! Thanks to everyone who gave me their technical expertise on this one ;D

v1.3 is out, now with 100% more configuration!
Still struggling to get the config file editable in game via the forge in game editor. Anyone got a good tutorial?

After much procrastination and a run through of Udemy's "Java for noobs" course, v1.4 is out for 1.10.2!
