BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP: 1.10.2 is no longer supported, do not ask for help with 1.10.2 mod versions.
There are THREE existing help sources already in place - in the mod, there is a LOGBOOK (press X). On every place this mod is posted, there is a changelog. And finally, you can search this thread for others who may have had your issue. There is NO reason I should have to see people asking "how do I use the ship" or "how does the dark/light portal work". If I continue to see these, they may end up being ignored as they clutter the thread and I would rather see REAL problems than ones that aren't actually problems.

fixed a bug with worlds crashing upon the death of a peaceful mob.
Energy/missile refills
these refills are dropped when a mob is killed. how much is dropped depends on the health and strength of the mob.
Suit Helmets
wearing any powersuit helmet gives you infinite water breathing. Additionally, if Galacticraft is installed, wearing a powersuit helmet prevents damage from lack of oxygen.
Suit Boots
wearing any pair of powersuit boots gives you a jump boost, as well as negates fall damage.
Suit energy
Energy tanks can be applied to powersuit chestplates. while a full set of armor is worn, damage taken is first applied to the energy stored in the armor, and then anything left over is taken from the player's health. Conversion is 1/2 heart of damage = 5 energy units.
XRay visor
the XRay visor utilizes a shader to imitate the visor from Metroid Prime. When this visor is active, certain ores will be outlined by a color, similar to an x-ray mod.
Dark Visor
Using the dark visor will highlight creatures and 'invisible platforms' red.
Echo Visor
The Echo Visor sends out a 'ping' every two seconds, lighting up blocks and entities based on their distance. It also is supposed to have an outline, but that part isn't working for me right now.
Lock-on feature
pressing 'V' while looking at a mob causes you to 'lock-on' to that mob. This causes you to always face that mob, and seeking projectiles will first target that mob. You will lose the lock-on if the mob is too far away or moves out of sight e.g. behind a wall.
Hypermode
A player wearing the Phazon Suit can enter hypermode by entering a pool of liquid phazon, and a player wearing a PED suit with at least 1 energy tank can enter/exit hypermode by pressing 'R' to expend an energy tank. While in hypermode, the power beam becomes the powerful Hyper Beam, and rapid-fires phazon beams which normally deal out a whopping 10 hearts of damage. The world becomes black-and-white, except for phazon.
If using the PED suit for hypermode:
Hypermode will automatically end after 25 seconds via the auto-vent feature.
Phazon-based damage, and liquid phazon, will corrupt your hypermode.
the large bar, called the 'Phazon Meter', shows how much phazon you have left for hypermode. Using the hyper beam decreases the bar. If your hypermode becomes corrupt, it will slowly fill up, and if it reaches full, you automatically die.
Gravity feature
the gravity effect, given by the gravity/phazon suits, negates the effects of water on movement.
'Breakable' Blocks
You can apply a block's texture and model by right-clicking with it. These blocks can be instantly destroyed by certain weapons (based on the default icon), regardless of the mobGreifing gamerule.
logbook
pressing 'X' opens the logbook. the logbook holds useful information about suits and powerups - obtaining a suit or powerup will unlock it's corresponding entry in the logbook.
gunship GUI
when inside the gunship, the logbook is replaced with the ship GUI. clicking on a planet or galaxy allows you to zoom in on it, and clicking the same planet again will attempt to take you to that planet.
Nether Damage
when not wearing a varia-enabled suit (any suit other than the basic powersuit), you will take constant damage in the nether.
Dark Aether
When inside dark aether, and not inside a safe zone or wearing the light suit, you take constant damage. Wearing the dark suit cuts the damage by 80%.
Hazard Meter
Rises the closer you are to an environmental hazard. Does not work with MOST modded blocks from other mods, or with plants like cacti (may change later).
Tinker's Construct and Project Red | Compatibility support
If you have Tinker's Construct installed, you can smelt chozo compound. In addition, you can smelt Redstone and Lapis and use them to alloy red, orange, and purple chozo compound with 50% higher output. If Project Red | Compatibility is installed, the liquid redstone from that is used instead of creating one.
Galacticraft support
Galacticraft dimensions, such as the moon, can be traveled to using the gunship. The gravity feature negates planet-specific gravity and simulates normal gravity in its place. Wearing a powersuit helmet negates the need of oxygen tanks and a frequency module.
Ex Nihilo support (requested for a skyblock modpack)

A: I have noticed that, with some older graphics cards, the HUD can majorly lag the computer. You can disable/enable the HUD in the Metroid Cubed 3 options menu.
Q: Why doesn't X item work?
A: If the item is labeled 'WIP', it probably won't work, but eventually will work or be removed. otherwise, post a reply explaining what item is not working AFTER checking the known glitches section of this post.
Q: Is this mod SMP compatible?
A: Of course! That was my driving motivation in making this mod - I hated how Metroid Cubed 2 was not SMP compatible.
Q: Will you add the grapple beam?
A: Yes, it is planned. No, it's not at the top of the priority list.
Q: Will you add mobs?
A: I will as models, textures, and animations are available, for Prime Trilogy mobs (and maybe a few other mobs).
Q: My question isn't on this list!
A: check the thread to see if someone else has asked your question before, and if not, ask it!
A better algorithm for determining how much energy and missiles a mob should drop upon death.
POSIBLY damage when near lava while not wearing a varia-enabled suit, and 'Dark Aether atmosphere' damage while in the End.
other players' morph ball doesn't render spinning properly
1.10.2 has a slight recoloring on elements when using the beam/visor selector sometimes
You can help make this mod better! Comment below with your ideas for this mod!
Help needed!
We need textures, block, item, and mob models, and animations for mobs!
FirEmerald (me)
for actually writing 99% of the code in this mod!
Jay - for creating some awesome textures and retextures!
Akuma Satsu - for making suit models, and gravity/phazon suit variants of Master_Hill_'s model's texture!
superlatios11 - for making the dark mob textures, and other icons!
James R. Rustled
for providing me with textures during the beginnings of the mod!
Chimera27Metroid
he made Metroid Cubed 2, of which much of this mod was derived!
Master_Hill_
he made a lot of the models for Metroid Cubed 2, and they were re-used here!
Also he made a nice model of the Varia Suit which I implemented!

Hello! I'm Liking the mod so far and I"m glad that the mod is not dead! I have a question, when are you going to update to 1.8? What I mean is how much stuff are you going to add in the 1.7.10 version and then update to the 1.8 version. I'm asking because I'm making a huge rpg map(well more than 1) but the mods I'm using are not all updated to 1.8 and I wanted to use this mod for the Metroid Prime 1,2,and 3 maps and I saw you are going to make mobs and the morph ball. Thank you!

As I have stated in the post above yours, 1.8 support will be rolling out when I have someone who can make models for 1.8
I like what you are doing with this mod! It is amazing just how much of that Metroid prime feel it brings to Minecraft. I cant wait to see how the morph ball will work.
Also I found a few bugs with the beams. The MP2 beams can be applied, but I cant switch to them. The MP1 beam sounds are mixed up (besides the power beam and the plasma beam I think).

MP2 beams require sneaking while switching, if that's your problem. If not, I have no idea why it is not working for you - that area of the code has been stable for a long, long time, and has not been modified since it was stablized.
Awesome update! I found a bug(Or I'm doing something wrong) I can't get the morph ball bombs to work. I first tried to apply it by right clicking, and then right clicking while sneaking in both morph ball mode and non-morph ball mode. Please note I did not see any tooltips telling me how to set the bombs and I tried to set it by right clicking. Thank you!
you should make it so when were in creative mode and we enter hyper mode the energy drain thingy doesnt happen. or hell, why not make a creative-only dark samus suit (that comes equipped with all upgrades right out of the box) that is always in hyper mode? maybe a special dark-samus only arm cannon that shoots hypermode beams and phazon missiles? (once again only creative mode)
heck it should be a fusion of the light suit and phazon suit (being ablt to breathe underwater and be completely immune to dark aethers atmosphere, as well as total immunity to phazon)
also... there could also be a hyper beam a la super metroid (the rainbow one) that while hard to obtain will almost surely destroy most enemies in a single hit.
there could really be a lot more done with this. like stacking beams (another arm cannon that works like in super metroid, which would be where the hyper rainbow beam would be in play) perhaps some fusion suits, etc....
there can also be "planets" (ie dimensions that can be traveled to by ship) like zebes, tallon IV, aether, sr388, etc with mobs from their respective games.

Thanks for the ideas. here's some stuff you should know:
1. In creative mode, activating hyper mode DOESN'T drain energy. the energy drain is a direct 10 hearts of damage, which are canceled by the game itself while in creative mode. (conversion: 10 hearts = 100 energy units)
2. the hyper beam is a direct result of being in hypermode - a permanent hypermode suit would therefore result in a permanent hypermode beam.
3. Hyper missiles are a possible future feature.
4. The current hyper beam can kill most normal enemies in a single hit. those it doesn't are usually damaged heavily by the beam's rapid fire rate anyway.
5. New suits are a possibility, but a fusion suit would have to be simply a retexture.
6. Adding in planet dimensions IS a planned feature. But not for a while, because I want to finish what I have already. That includes structures and mobs for Dark Aether, the first planet.
by energy i meant the phazon bar that drains with each shot. i was thinking a dark samus suit ( which is creative mode only) would be used as a way to be permanently in hyper mode.
BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP:
1.10.2 is no longer supported, do not ask for help with 1.10.2 mod versions.

Defaults have powersuit at diamond level (80%), with each additional upgrade increasing that by 5%, leaving tier 4 armor at 95% damage redux.

initial release
Tinker's Construct
Mantle (Tinker's Construct Dependency)
Galacticraft Core
Galacticraft Planets
Micdoodle Core (Galacticraft dependency)
these refills are dropped when a mob is killed. how much is dropped depends on the health and strength of the mob.
Ex Nihilo support (requested for a skyblock modpack)
chozo compound, dark/light crystals, and bendezium can be sieved from stone.

A: I will update as soon as I have someone to make block and item models for X version.
Q: How do I use X item?/ What does X item do?
A: Hover over the item for a tooltip. Also, there is a W.I.P. logbook: press 'B' to open it!
Q: The HUD is laggy!!! What should I do?
POSIBLY damage when near lava while not wearing a varia-enabled suit, and 'Dark Aether atmosphere' damage while in the End.
1.10.2 has a slight recoloring on elements when using the beam/visor selector sometimes
You can help make this mod better! Comment below with your ideas for this mod!
Help needed!
We need textures, block, item, and mob models, and animations for mobs!
for actually writing 99% of the code in this mod!
Creator of Metroid Cubed 3, a Metroid-themed mod! Become a donator today!
I guess I should mention some of the changes/additions between this and metroid cubed 2
*Most/all recipes have been changed, however, a legacy crafting option exists, which uses the old recipes for all items that were in metroid cubed 2.
*A functioning energy tank system has been implemented
*A functioning radar has been implemented
*The PED suit has been added and functions identically to the one in MP3
*Liquid phazon has been added and naturally spawns.
*Several textures have been changed/updated, however, the old ones are still usable.
*The upgrade mechanic has been completely revamped.
*Dark Aether has been slightly altered, but it works properly.
*Several new ores have been added, including dark/light crystal ores and chozo metal ore.
I found a bug where my world (I tried client and server) randomly crashes. I am not sure what is causing it, but it starts right away usually after I start to go in any direction. Then if I try to reload the world it crashes again, and with no specific pattern. The only mod I am using currently is Metroid Cubed 3. Here is the crash report.

I'm liking what I see so far. Looks very promising!
look forward to possible morph ball upgrades in the far future!

Awesome SMP compatible!!! do you mind if i make a show case? and also will this make it to 1.8?
yes, eventually i will make it to 1.8. More specifically, when I have someone to make models. (The beam may not be as cool anymore though)
As for the showcase, it should probably wait until version 0.2B - adding in morph ball and related items!

Ok thanks and sorry I misread the post befoe mine.
If not, I have no idea why it is not working for you - that area of the code has been stable for a long, long time, and has not been modified since it was stablized.

oh, my bad I didnt know you had to sneak to activate them.
It's all in the tooltips my friend
