Kompy_87 I didn't read the latest forum posts, but, I think I've answered your request, I've added 2 new config options, one for toggling thistle completely, and one for toggling just the world gen aspect of it. Just like before, you can pick up the latest build in the github pr :3
An idea was uttered in the irc about adding a thistle seed and possilbly ax-ing thistle worldgen. (Mostly me crying about thistle bringing nothing but pain).
I'll open the discussion, if you (the users) believe that we should add a Thistle Seed item, and disable worldgen (or remove it).
That being said, I now I have to find someone to enslave, ask for a new texture
curious about hops... do they disappear after a while? i bonemealed the seeds so they would reach the top of the rope and i was able to harvest them. then i went to do something else for maybe 20 minutes or so, and when i went back to check on them, they started to despawn right before my eyes... like the hops would disappear as well as the vines (not sure what they're called) and so the ropes were exposed. there is a water block in between each column of hops (i copied the design i saw in the villages)... they're currently growing in a Plains biome (and so was the village where i spotted them). the rope does go all the way down to the seed. i'm on version 2.6.1. i don't recall this happening to me before and this is the first time playing with hops since it became the Community Edition. thanks in advance!
Question.. for what we need the "Thistle"? My whole place is overgrown with that plant.
Thistle isn't "needed" for anything. It "can be" used as an alternate method of making Rennet, but that's what Baby Cow's Stomaches are for. Technically speaking, Thistle Rennet isn't used for making any of the Cheeses in the mod, in real life anyway, so it's miseducating in that way. I recommend disabling it in the config file.
Thistle rennet can be used instead of stomach rennet in any of the cheese recipes. This was added in as an alternative to having to wait for the cool down time for breeding cows thus making the cheese elements to Growthcraft Milk being more accessible/obtainable.
In real life, thistle is an ingredient for making Vegetable Rennet, which is commonly used when making vegetarian cheeses. Vegetable Rennet can make any of cheeses that it is used for in the mod, including cheddar. In order to offset the bitter that can be produced, in real life, skim milk is used instead.
Long story short, Growthcraft 2.6.2 will fix the world gen. We are actually making a legit crop that can be grown from a seed instead of finding it in a field and replanting it and you'll be able to control when and when it shows up.

I'm the guy that designed the Milk Module. That is NOT why Thistle Rennet was added.
I've found an overwhelming amount of information that says people "don't" use Thistle Rennet in Cow's Milk based Cheeses. That's not to say you "can't". I can use Refined Baking Sugar to sweeten my Coffee if I "wanted to", but nobody does that. That is to say "it's a really bad idea, and there's a good reason people don't do it"
I can appreciate that you don't want to un-code Thistle because it presents an annoyance for worlds/servers that have already used the mod and the blocks and items are present... but at the end of the day, the reason we're not removing it because it's a pain-in-the-butt to remove it. You're defending it because you like it, not because you you added it.
Everything I've researched since people have started complaining about Thistles has indicated to me to that it simply is NOT commonly used in cheesemaking... PERIOD. For the few cheesemakers that do use Thistle Rennet... it is even LESS COMMON for them to use it in Cow's Milk based cheeses.
Here's just a quick smattering of results from Google. I'm not even trying to hard to scavenge for this information. It's right there in the top results when you google "Thistle Rennet".

I don't find the config file for thistle deactivating... i don't ask without a reason PitchBright :-/
In the milk config there is no thistle deactivating. And there is no growthcraft.cfg
I also checked all config files with word search "Thistle" nothing was found.
The most recent version of the mod, has the option to disable it. There's a folder called "growthcraft" in your config folder... so I'm not sure how you don't see that there, even if you're on a version that is a little outdated.
I always open a new PR with preview builds, so stay tuned or check our build history if you're interested in older test builds.
The latest build includes several new config options for Thistle, Thistle's World Gen is now DISABLED by default, if you've been using the preview builds all along and wish to be rid of Thistle spreading like wildfire on a hot summer day, please promptly disable the config option, if you don't like, care about thistle, please disable it completely with the provided config options.

It just occurred to me that, out of all of the drinks Growthcraft has, there isn't a way to make vodka. I mean, there are already potatoes in vanilla Minecraft, so why not give em a good use and make vodka out of them? I mean, there's hard cider for crying out loud. XD
Love the mod, have been using it for awhile now and only have 1 real issue with it. In the milk section, when you need to have the culture jar above fire to get starter cultures it doesnt look nice to have a floating bottle above a fire pit. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix that in the config (i haven't messed with the "heat" section at all im not sure what that does) But i would love to see the culture jars be useful without having them just hover there. But regardless the mod is fantastic and keep up the good work, you're doing a fantastic job

Hello, I believe Pitch and Alaty has covered most of the topics, for those who would like to help test the 2.6.2 release (please test...)
You can pick up the release builds on our github https://github.com/GrowthcraftCE/Growthcraft-1.7/pull/386
I always open a new PR with preview builds, so stay tuned or check our build history if you're interested in older test builds.

You need to use the latest version of the mod. IceDragon provided a link.
Currently attempting to use the brew kettle causes the game to crash.
I'm not sure what the source could be, here's the crash report.

Hey when Agricraft is installed it is impossible to create the bamboo blocks; they instead make crop sticks. Any way to fix this? I'm running 1.7.10.
