they do set fire to wood by default. and they do actually target villagers and such, but their AI does kind of prefer to stalk a single enemy (and villagers can sit in their homes for hours doing nothing)
Oh, cool. I've been watching someone play in a village and hadn't seen that. They don't let it get dark much, so I guess that's why.
I'd like to see some way to discourage people from making bases in villages and dragons would be a cool mechanic for that. Maybe, villages could generate with a dragon already there - that'd be kinda neat.
Oh. In the LP I've been watching the dragons showed up at night and in my own testing I've only seen the warning as night was falling. The one dragon I actually saw, was in the morning after not sleeping through the night. I guess it was just coincidence. Granted, I haven't spent a lot of time with the mod yet.
Dragons spawning during the day is cool. And scary.
You're supposed to use both left and right clicks to use the anvil according to the book, but right clicks just open the gui and too many left clicks break the item (copper shears). What am I doing wrong?
Ugh. I feel like an idiot. I did try the top, but not after I read the part about right clicking. Maybe you could mention the right/left click mechanic in the getting started section of the book? It's a bit buried where it is now, I feel.
I started a new world and had the same problem. After disabling torch tools I was able to right click on the anvil. Just to make sure I re-enabled it and, again, right click would only access the gui. So, yeah, there's a problem with torch tools which isn't terribly surprising. Not sure it's a big deal - torch tools is nice, but not a vital mod and I don't know if many people use it.

Okay, so I did a couple more tests with torch tools back in the pack. If there's nothing to the right of the hammer on my hotbar, when I right click the anvil works as intended. When I put torches to the right of the hammer, right clicking opens the gui.
Why? I don't know I'm not a programmer.
I've seen problems with this mod before when another mod uses right click in an unusual manner, Dimensional Controls uses right click with an item to create portals and I configured it to use a pick; so having anything that could be placed in the world to the right of the pick would prevent it from creating the portal.
I just tested that. With torches to the right of the hammer I can place them in the world with a right click. That's what torch tools does and I've yet to find a tool that it doesn't work on, modded or vanilla. That's why I like it.
dark? time of day has little effect to dragon spawns.
No kidding. Just decided to give this mod a try, because I liked the old one. Seemed pretty good at first, except for the part where I spawned in a jungle and (I thought) the safest place to set up would be a treehouse. Soon as I went to put on walls, a dragon pounced me. At spawn. During the day.
I'm not really asking for help so much as pointing out what seems to me to be a design flaw. Like I said, I like things for the most part. I kind of have to object to boss level mobs that can gank you at spawn right off the bat, though. That falls pretty firmly in the cheap death category. My opinion of the mod would go from "interesting but not for serious play" to "worth building a pack around" if that couldn't happen.
That I'm not sure about. I'm just doing this and the 1.8 update. AP might be pushing some new stuff out before then
nah, better to leave the slate clean on my end to avoid conflicting
AP, can you add support for https://github.com/BluSunrize/TravellersGear/ mod?
Just a suggestion: Have dragons set fire to wood planks/stairs. That way they'll burn villages - classic dragon behavior. And, maybe kill sheep too.

I'll try, the trouble is animating it though.

click the top of the anvil.

Nope, it turns out I'm not an idiot (whew).

dropbox is good.
why would it do that though?

unless (somehow) the hammer item has a right-click function added, only way that would happen if the mod edited the Item file to add it.

Needless to say, I was not happy about this.
if you see a dragon, hide for awhile and it should leave, unless it gets attacked of course.
