Welcome to Extended Farming! Extended Farming is a new mod that enchances the farming aspect of Minecraft. I have always found it boring that there are so few crops in Minecraft. This mod will change that, pluss provide new farming tools like a watering system and other machines.
At this moment, the mod contains the following:
A new watering system with:
Hoses
Pumps
Sprinklers
Tractors!
Plowing
Mowing
Watering
Seeding
Harvesting
Animals
Goats
A lava system
Insulated Hoses
Lava Pumps
Lava Sprinklers
Farmable Soul Sand
New Crops
Beans
Peas
Chilli Peppers
Sugar Beets
New Food:
Roasted Beans
Roasted Peppers
Roasted Carrots
Baked Peas
Blocks to support crops while growing
Bamboo Sticks
Nets
The mod is still beeing worked on and more features will be added every few weeks.
Current planned features These are just new ideas I have to improve the mod, even though it is listed here, does not mean it will 100% sure be added.
So what is in the mod? The mod contains a few blocks and items. We'll look at them here:
The Blocks The Extended Farming Blocks:
Extended Farming add a few new blocks to the game. While most of the blocks added are crops, or support blocks for crops, there are also a few other blocks like machines and hoses.
The Watering system: With the new watering system, you don't have to waste valueable farmland for water blocks. Just put up a sprinkler and you are good to go!.
A sprinkler will hydrate a full 9x9 area, with the sprinkler in the middle. That gives you 80 useable farmland blocks out of 81 blocks! You can connect hoses to the bottom of the sprinkler and make it super efficient to farm!
The setup is very simple. Place a pump above a water block, and run hoses from the pump to the sprinkler. It will start to spray water across the blocks and keep the ground wet. Hoses can go in all direction, even up and down, so there are no limits to how the farm gets its water.
If you place a sprinkler on the blue block, all the orange and red blocks will be hydrated by the sprinkler!
Lets take a look at all the blocks involved in the watering system:
The Pumps:
Pumps will pump water into connected hoses. Hoses can be connected on the four sides. Once above a water block, it will pump water into hoses. Only one pump is required as there is no limit to how long the hose can be. But longer hoses take longer for the water to reach the sprinkler, so try not to make super long hoses.
The Hoses:
Hoses are used to transport water from the pump to machines. They can go in all 6 directions so there are few limits to where the pump and sprinklers are placed. Hoses will turn blue once it has water in it!
The Sprinklers: Sprinklers are blocks that hydrate your farmland. When connected to a hose with water, it will start spraying water across your fields and keep the crops growing. The sprinkler can hydrate a 9x9 area, with the sprinkler in the middle, look at the picture with wool blocks. Hoses can be connected to it from the bottom and the four sides.
The Lava System: Don't want to waste precious coal on cooking your food? Use the Lava system instead. Using the Nether pump, insulated hoses and a lava sprinkler you can farm a full 9x9 area with crops that crop the cooked version of them. The setup is really simple. Craft yourself the required blocks and place the pump above a lava block. Now you run an insulated hose from the lava pump to the lava sprinkler. Insulated Hoses can go all directions, even up and down, so the lava doesnt have to be close to the sprinkler and the hose can be hidden underground and connect to the sprinkler from below. When the pump is over lava, it will fill connected hoses and go all the way to the sprinkler.
The sprinkler will light an area of 4 blocks in all direction. So the most efficient setup would be to place a sprinkler in the middle and turn the surounding blocks into farmland, just like the watering system.
This setup, just like the water system, gives you 80 farmable block, now lets take a look at the involved blocks:
Lava Pump: The lava pump will pump lava through your insulated hoses and into the lava sprinklers. It is very easy to use, just place it above a lava block and you're done! You can connect a insulated hose to all four sides to get water to the lava sprinklers. Only one pump is required as there is no limit to how long the insulated hose can be.
Insulated Hose: Insulated Hoses are used to get the lava from the lava pump to the lava sprinkler. They can connect in all 6 directions so there are few limits to where your pump and sprinkler are placed. You can connect insulated hoses to the bottom of a lava sprinkler to make your field as efficient as possible! The hose will turn orange once it has lava in it.
Lava Sprinklers: Lava Sprinklers are blocks that can Light your Soul sand fields on fire. When connected to a hose with lava it will start spraying lava over an area, 9x9 blocks with the sprinkler in the center(Look above pictures). They can connect with hoses from the four sides and the bottom.
Farmable Soul Sand: This block is used for farming in the nether. It will grow crops and at the same time cook them. So plant a potatoe on it, wait for it to grow, and you harvest baked potatoes from it! You might be thinking, there is not cooked version of a carrot, well now there is! Plant carrots and you can harvest Roasted Carrots! You can use a Quartz Hoe on soul sand to get this block.
Grinder and Pies[/header]
You can't farm without using the crops you harvest. The wheat crop in vanilla minecraft has a lot of potential usages. This is where the grinder comes into the picture.
The grinder can grind two wheats into flour. This flour can then be used in further crafting. To use a grinder, you simply place it down and fill it with 2 wheat. Once it has two wheat, right click with a cobblestone block and it will start grinding. When you see that the wheat has become flour, simply right click while holding an item and you will recieve the flour and the cobblestone block.
The Flour can then be used to craft dough when you add a bucket of water to it. The dough is used as a base for a new type of food: Pies.
Currently the only pie is apple pie, but more will come later on! The raw pies need to be cooked in a furnace.
Crops:
What would a farming mod be without new crops?! So therefor this mod also adds new crops. Most of them will grow just like vanilla crops, while others will require more work. The mod will add common vegetables, but also more unknown crops and spices. The currently added crops are:
Beans:
Beans are a common crop. They only require the support of bamboo sticks and will, like vanilla crops, grow in 4 stages: Seed, little plant, purple flowers, beans! Once harvested you will get some beans and some beans seeds. A bean can also be crafted into 2 bean seeds.
Peas: Peas are common crops, which seeds can be found in village chests. They require Bamboo sticks and nets to grow. When harvested they will drop Peas and pea seeds. Peas can be crafted into 2 Pea seeds. They grow in 4 stages with yellow flowers.
Chilli Peppers: Chilli Peppers are a bit more rare than peas. They are found in Jungle Temples and require Bamboo stick as support. They grow similair to bean and will drop Chilli Peppers. These can be crafted into two seeds.
Sugar Beets:
Sugar Beets are a more effiecient way to gather sugar. They grow similair to carrots, and when harvested one sugar beet can be crafted into 2 sugar. The beets can be planted on both farmland and in the nether, but have no special nether drop. You will need to find some dungeons to obtain them.
Beets: Beets grow similair to Sugar Beets, and when harvested it will drop a beet. In the Nether it will even drop a Roasted Beet. You can use 6 Roasted Beets to craft yourself a BeetSoup, similair to the one in Minecraft PE. You will need to find some dungeons to obtain them.
Those are the blocks, now lets take a look at all the items:
The Items
Extended Farming Items: Extended Farming also adds new Items to the game. There aren't many of them, but they are important. Most items will be food or seeds.
Crop Support Items: These Items are required by some crops for them to grow. Currently added crop support items:
Bamboo Sticks
Nets
Food:
Most food is harvested directly from crops, but in later updates I will also add complete meals with meat and vegetables. Currently added food:
Beans
Peas
Chilli Peppers
Sugar Beets
Beets
Roasted Beans
Baked Peas
Roasted Peppers
Roasted Carrots
Roasted Beets
All are harvested from their own crops and cooked(Or harvested in the nether, with a lava sprinkler system)
Craftable meals:
There aren't many yet but here is the list:
Beet Soup, Crafted with 6 Roasted Beets above a bowl.
Seeds:
Not much to explain here. Most seeds are found in vanilla generated chests, like villages, temples, mineshafts and the bonus chest at startup. All seeds can also be crafted using their crops.
Currently added seeds with location:
Bean Seeds, in villages
Pea Seeds, in villages
Tools: Extended Farming also add a few new tools to the game. These are all special tools, that are used for farming.
Quartz Hoe: This special hoe is made using quartz, and can only be used on Soul Sand. It will turn it into farmable Soul Sand. It has about the same strength as iron, ca. 200 uses.
Tractors: Tractors are very usefull machines while farming! They make big tasks like plowing your fields easy. Just craft yourself a tractor, fill it with coal and attach a plow. Then you drive over the field and watch the plow do all the hard work. Even though the tractor is a bit expensive, and definitly a mid-late game machine, it will revolutionize your farming experience!
Tractors, how do they work? First of all you will have to craft yourself a tractor, just look below for recipes. After you have crafted yourself a tractor, simply place it down by right clicking. It will now remember you as the owner.
The tractor now only responds to you, and no other players, so there is no stealing other peoples tractors or attachments. To drive the tractor, you will have to add fuel to it. Simply right click while holding coal to add fuel. Now that it recognizes you, and has fuel, its time to start driving! To get on the tractor, you just right click the chair part. And you drive with the wasd keys and your mouse.
Every tractor also has its own little inventory, usefull for storing seeds and tools, but also your attachments.
Attachments: With these items you can make your tractor do hard work for you.
The Plow: As the name suggests, this attachment will make the tractor plow the field for you. This can save you a lot of time since you no longer have to right click each block with a hoe. To attach the plow, Shift+right click the back of the tractor while holding a plow. After plowing, you will have to take the plow of again, do so by shift+right clicking while holding a wrench. The plow will also remove tall grass during the plowing. Newly plowed soil will be a bit moist, so you have a little time to plant stuff before it turns back into dirt.
The Mowdeck: The mowdeck is basicly a lawnmower. You can use it to easily get rid of tall grass and flowers. Just like the plow, it is attached by shift + right clicking. You can only have one attachment at the time, but they are easily switched out using the wrench.
The Tractor Sprinkler: This is a more mobile version of a sprinkler. Just fill up the tractor with water by Shift+right clicking while holding a bucket of water, and attach the sprinkler to the tractor. When you drive across dry farmland it will water it and it stays wet for quite a while!
The Tractor Seeder: Using this attachment, you can plant a lot of seeds really fast! The seeder can be used for all crops that don't require support blocks: Wheat, Potatoes, Carrots, Sugar Beets, Beets. Simply add some of the seeds/crops in the Tractor inventory, and drive over farmland with the seeder attached!
The Harvester: Harvest all crops that don't require support blocks, by simply driving over them! It will drop the items, ready for you to pick them up. It will only harvest fully grown crops, not the ones that still need some time to get ready!
Crafting: Enough chit-chat, lets take a look on how to make one: You will need a bunch of parts to get a tractor:
4 Wheels, crafted into 2 driveshafts A body An engine A chair A SteeringWheel A Chest
Animals
Extended Farming also adds animals to the game. There are few of them at the moment, but more will be added. There will be farmable animals, which you can use as a resource for food or materials, but also less usefull animals like moles and rats. These are the currently added animals:
Goats Goats are mainly there for that farming feel and some food. They can be milked with a bucket, to obtain Goatmilk. This has the same effect as regular milk, for now. When killed, a goat will drop some goat meat, which you then can roast in a furnace. It also has a minor chance of dropping some white wool.
Goats are very stubborn, but will follow you around if you hold a carrot. If you feed two goats a carrot each, they will make a baby goat
Goats are very usefull mobs to keep around at your farm. They can supply you with meat, wool and milk. But you can do even more with these machines:
Milking stations: The milking stations will milk the goats for you, and store the milk in its tank. You simply right-click with an empty bucket to get the milk. Just place a milking station in your goat enclosure, and when a goat walks onto the milking station, it will get the milk. One station can store up too 8 buckets of milk.
Cheese Barrels: What's the point of Goatmilk if you can't make cheese with it?! That's where the Cheesebarrels come in. These barrels can be placed out in the sun, and filled with goat milk. Once filled, and in direct sunlight, the milk slowly starts to vaporate. This process takes a while but will leave behind a beautiful Goat cheese. Just right-click with an empty hand to get the cheese out of the barrel.
I really hope you will enjoy this mod! Feel free to leave feedback in the comments below and remember to leave a diamond. Bugs and glitches can be reported here, on my site, or in a tweet and I will solve them as fast as I can. Also leave suggestions to new crops and features and Ill add them to the planned list!

You had me at "Tractor"
ohohhhohohoh Tractor is a little glitchy at moment, but completely fantastic!
Actually, I enjoy pams harvestcraft, but I love the bamboo feel where you need that to keep up the crops just like in real life. The textures could have a little change, since it doesn't suit texture packs whatsoever. It's kind of like orespawn where I would have to put up with the texture of it.
The tractor is gorgeous by the way!
Diesslay " Add a trailer" and "change the fuel to oil" I agree with those two!!!
I feel you should add a "Anatolian Shepherd" or some type of dog that watches over the sheep, and goats!
If you also wouldn't mind, could you add a better brick type block that matches a barn a little better?
Also roosters if you do not mind! Rakes, and other tools!
I don't know I feel you can do this type of stuff!
Also the tractor needs more work, but again this is w.i.p mod! You have my support!
Bug/glitch Update 1: Cheese barrel has a light glitch if I am correct. The sides of it are like flickering.
Bug/glitch Update 2: Tractor jumps up and down when no fuel is in it, and while on it.
Bug/glitch Update 3: When standing next to tractor looking forward, whole tractor disappears.
Edit: Also this isn't a bug, but could you fix the size of the tractor item if possible? It just look very odd in inventory( Not main Priority of course)

Ill fix the item size, thats no problem at all. The Tractor disapearing is a vanilla minecraft bug, not much I can do about it, but I can change the hitbox size a bit to minimize the problem. The jumping glitch is also related to this
Ill look into the Cheese barrel lighting, it could be from the milk liquid inside so that shouldnt be a big problem. What do you mean with: "since it doesn't suit texture packs whatsoever"? It is possible to make texturepacks for mods. Just use the same path as the mod, so: Assets/extfar/textures/blocks for example.
What would you suggest a rake does? Turn farmland back to dirt or something like that? I have thought of tools but Im not sure what they should do

"Doesn't fit texture packs" I just meant it will be a long time until there are texture packs for it. Unless, someone sees this thread, and immediately starts working on it"
Planted in soil veggies:
- Cabbage
- Onion
- Garlic
- Zuccini
- Squash
- Lettuce ( Iceberg most likely)
- Mustard seeds
- Tomato
- Barley
Tools
- Watering can : Use fill the can with water, and it will work like bone meal. This will completely take out the use for Extra utilities, but you can make a durability bar on it unlike the extra utilities so it isn't "Over powered"
- Rake: Yes, Instead of looking like fool, and jumping up and down or running through it, you could distill the earth.
- Hand Trowel : More of an aesthetic item, but you could make it where you need that to plant those certain items. Add a little more realism into when planting the seeds.
- Basket: Carry more of your veggies, also an aesthetic look but it gives it a great feel like you are a real farmer at peace.
Bushes
- Strawberries
- Blue berries
- "Grape Vine"
Trees:
- Oranges
- Bananas
- lemons
- Apple
- Avocados
Misc:
Overalls : Small little outfit to put on if you'd like, instead of adding a new skin to your minecraft character.
Straw hat : what farmer or garner doesn't have one of these?
Oil : Instead of coal, the oil function could be pretty nice.
These are just a few ideas I have in my head at this very second.
That is AWESOME mod! Can you add new farm animals: rabbits(drop fur, rabbit meat,), ducks(drop feather, duck meat), turkey(feather, meat), gooses(feathers, goose meat), bulls(drop leather, beef, and bulls neutral, attack if been provoked). May add drop meat in horses, mules. It will be AWESOME!
I know that in Thermal Expansion that farming is made so much easier using the Photogenic (or Phytogenic) Insolator, but this makes me farm without using it!
And please change the fuel for the Tractor to oil!

If I helped you in any way or agree in my ideas or posts, make sure you click that green arrow pointing up below my post or simply huggle me! I use 1.7.10 (Modded), so when I comment that I like a 1.8 mod, I will comment to downgrade to 1.7.10. I support no pics, no clicks. Suggestions that I think that are the best deserves a banner!
It is almost time to say goodbye to 1.7.10 because of the recent surge of big 1.9 mods.
Why MCreator sucks: jcm2606's file (doesn't open a new tab) He allows/welcomes anyone to link the file, so I put it here in my signature for people to know how MCreator functions. I thank jcm2606 (he's awesome) for creating the document/file and I'm just here to spread the word.

This mod looks very cool, I LOVE the tractor! I noticed a bug tho, and it ties into a request. When you use a seed from another mod in the planter, it is not planted, and it vanishes. The vanishing is the bug. But I would love to be able to use this mod with other mods like Pams Harvest Craft. One other thing is, you seem to use the model of the tractor parts and tractor as there icon, it makes them look kind of odd in an inventory and NEI. Also lastly, it would be cool if you could use a config option to add other fuel types and how much fuel they give for the tractor, that way mod pack makers and players that like to customize a lot could have custom fuels from other mods. Such oil or fuel from build craft or Immersive Engineering or maybe coal coke from Rail Craft. All in all tho this mod looks like it will be very cool!
can you also add in the option to change the goats ID name? that way if another mod like mo creatures or eternal frost is installed you can fix that id conflict.
I downloaded this mod for 1.7.10, and made a new world. I gave myself all the things you need to craft a tractor, and crafted one. I placed it down, added a plow, but when I was holding coal and clicked the tractor, either nothing happened, (No text saying fuel was added in chat) or I got teleported to sit in the seat. I couldn't drive it, and I tried this many times, clicking at different places with the coal. If I held left shift and clicked the tractor, it would just bring me to it's inventory. I tried putting coal in the inventory, still nothing. I watched videos to see how to make it work, still nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
Besides that, I love this mod. The fact that there's tractors and sprinklers is amazing.
I have a little problem with plants growing on bamboo stick. All of them (beans peas chilli pepper) when was harvest they gave me only seeds. I dont know why. On youtube clipsI've seen that bamboo stick stay on field after harvest, in my game they are harvested too
Hi I really love this mod but I think i may be the only one here who gets a bit annoyed with the farming items search bar and could I ask if that could be removed because I think the vanilla search bar should do all the work if you know what I mean lol other than that great mod although I can't get the tractor to work at all sadly..

So what is in the mod?
The mod contains a few blocks and items. We'll look at them here:
The Blocks
The Extended Farming Blocks:
Extended Farming add a few new blocks to the game. While most of the blocks added are crops, or support blocks for crops, there are also a few other blocks like machines and hoses.
The Watering system:
With the new watering system, you don't have to waste valueable farmland for water blocks.
The Sprinklers:
Sprinklers are blocks that hydrate your farmland. When connected to a hose with water, it will start spraying water across your fields and keep the crops growing. The sprinkler can hydrate a 9x9 area, with the sprinkler in the middle, look at the picture with wool blocks. Hoses can be connected to it from the bottom and the four sides.
The Lava System:
Don't want to waste precious coal on cooking your food?
Lava Pump:
The lava pump will pump lava through your insulated hoses and into the lava sprinklers. It is very easy to use, just place it above a lava block and you're done! You can connect a insulated hose to all four sides to get water to the lava sprinklers. Only one pump is required as there is no limit to how long the insulated hose can be.
Insulated Hose:
Insulated Hoses are used to get the lava from the lava pump to the lava sprinkler. They can connect in all 6 directions so there are few limits to where your pump and sprinkler are placed. You can connect insulated hoses to the bottom of a lava sprinkler to make your field as efficient as possible! The hose will turn orange once it has lava in it.
Lava Sprinklers:
Lava Sprinklers are blocks that can Light your Soul sand fields on fire. When connected to a hose with lava it will start spraying lava over an area, 9x9 blocks with the sprinkler in the center(Look above pictures). They can connect with hoses from the four sides and the bottom.
Farmable Soul Sand:
This block is used for farming in the nether.
Grinder and Pies[/header] You can't farm without using the crops you harvest.
Peas:
Peas are common crops, which seeds can be found in village chests. They require Bamboo sticks and nets to grow. When harvested they will drop Peas and pea seeds. Peas can be crafted into 2 Pea seeds. They grow in 4 stages with yellow flowers.
Chilli Peppers:
Chilli Peppers are a bit more rare than peas.
Beets:
Beets grow similair to Sugar Beets, and when harvested it will drop a beet. In the Nether it will even drop a Roasted Beet. You can use 6 Roasted Beets to craft yourself a BeetSoup, similair to the one in Minecraft PE. You will need to find some dungeons to obtain them.
Those are the blocks, now lets take a look at all the items:
The Items
Extended Farming Items:
Extended Farming also adds new Items to the game. There aren't many of them, but they are important. Most items will be food or seeds.
Crop Support Items:
These Items are required by some crops for them to grow. Currently added crop support items:
Food:
Most food is harvested directly from crops, but in later updates I will also add complete meals with meat and vegetables. Currently added food:
All are harvested from their own crops and cooked(Or harvested in the nether, with a lava sprinkler system)
Craftable meals:
There aren't many yet but here is the list:
Seeds:
Not much to explain here. Most seeds are found in vanilla generated chests, like villages, temples, mineshafts and the bonus chest at startup. All seeds can also be crafted using their crops.
Currently added seeds with location:
Tools:
Extended Farming also add a few new tools to the game. These are all special tools, that are used for farming.
Quartz Hoe:
This special hoe is made using quartz, and can only be used on Soul Sand. It will turn it into farmable Soul Sand. It has about the same strength as iron, ca. 200 uses.
Tractors:
Tractors are very usefull machines while farming!
Attachments:
With these items you can make your tractor do hard work for you.
The Plow:
As the name suggests, this attachment will make the tractor plow the field for you.
The Mowdeck:
The mowdeck is basicly a lawnmower. You can use it to easily get rid of tall grass and flowers. Just like the plow, it is attached by shift + right clicking. You can only have one attachment at the time, but they are easily switched out using the wrench.
The Tractor Sprinkler:
This is a more mobile version of a sprinkler. Just fill up the tractor with water by Shift+right clicking while holding a bucket of water, and attach the sprinkler to the tractor. When you drive across dry farmland it will water it and it stays wet for quite a while!
The Tractor Seeder:
Using this attachment, you can plant a lot of seeds really fast! The seeder can be used for all crops that don't require support blocks: Wheat, Potatoes, Carrots, Sugar Beets, Beets. Simply add some of the seeds/crops in the Tractor inventory, and drive over farmland with the seeder attached!
The Harvester:
Harvest all crops that don't require support blocks, by simply driving over them! It will drop the items, ready for you to pick them up. It will only harvest fully grown crops, not the ones that still need some time to get ready!
Crafting:
Enough chit-chat, lets take a look on how to make one:
You will need a bunch of parts to get a tractor:
4 Wheels, crafted into 2 driveshafts
A body
An engine
A chair
A SteeringWheel
A Chest
Underneath are screenshots of all the recipes, so you better start mining iron
http://www.larsmods.com/tractors.html
Animals
Extended Farming also adds animals to the game. There are few of them at the moment, but more will be added. There will be farmable animals, which you can use as a resource for food or materials, but also less usefull animals like moles and rats. These are the currently added animals:
Goats
Goats are mainly there for that farming feel and some food.
Milking stations:
The milking stations will milk the goats for you, and store the milk in its tank. You simply right-click with an empty bucket to get the milk. Just place a milking station in your goat enclosure, and when a goat walks onto the milking station, it will get the milk. One station can store up too 8 buckets of milk.
Cheese Barrels:
What's the point of Goatmilk if you can't make cheese with it?!
-TheLarsinator
I have thought of tools but Im not sure what they should do
If you suggest some crops, I could possibly add them The pump wont work with other mods...
Enlarging the capacity as in for example 5 blocks wide? Ill look into that, probably not, but who knows
I dont really see the purpose of potato and carrot seeds... But I can add them if you really want it
"Doesn't fit texture packs" I just meant it will be a long time until there are texture packs for it.
I do have to say the sprinkler system is out of this world xD It's insane I like it! xD
500+ huggles? U wot, m8?
Omg and this is WIP??? It's incredibly awesome
Lots of good ideas, I will add a few of them for sure!
NEW FEATURES!
I forgot to post Version 5.0 here, and just released Version 5.1, these versions add;
- Milking stations for goats
- Cheese Barrels
- Goat Cheese
- Wheat Grinder
- Flour
- Dough
- Apple Pie
Enjoy!
My only question. is this mod for 1.6.4? (that would be amazing)
No. 1.7.10 is the MVP.

Hello,
I have a little problem with plants growing on bamboo stick. All of them (beans peas chilli pepper) when was harvest they gave me only seeds. I dont know why. On youtube clipsI've seen that bamboo stick stay on field after harvest, in my game they are harvested too
Goats DO NOT seem to be Spawning?
Any ideas?
Hi I really love this mod but I think i may be the only one here who gets a bit annoyed with the farming items search bar and could I ask if that could be removed because I think the vanilla search bar should do all the work if you know what I mean lol other than that great mod although I can't get the tractor to work at all sadly..
