we have recently come to the conclusion that the scope of this mod is far beyond any magic mod and most other mods in Minecraft. We have decided to break the mod into 3 release stages, and will be needing a team of coders as well as a dedicated modeler and multiple texturers. We are reducing the resolution of the mod to 32 by 32 to reduce the strain on everyones computers as is necessary for a mod of this size. I will be authoring and posting a plan for development of the mod, and urge anyone interested to contact me immediately.
Update: A lot of progress has been made on the update, however our texturer is no longer able to create textures for the mod. as development of all features except for the crafting system and documentation have been implemented, further development cannot occur until we have a new texturer. If anyone is or knows of anyone who might be interested in this position please tell me.
The Skyforge seems to function nicely, and I can't wait for NEI integration or some documentation! I haven't encountered any crashes yet, and I love the new textures, the Achievements seem to be coming along nicely. The Runes of Annukai and related items seem to be missing, but this makes me excited for a change of path in the mod's development. Great work, pibx10 and team! I cannot wait for the finished update!
Yes some items have been removed, purely because they aren't apart of the first update, runes of annunaki and items such as that represent the second update, which is the division of duality or good and evil, as we are still on the division of the elements, we had to remove it. I am really glad you like it! we are looking for suggestions if anyone has any features they think should be implemented, and we are seriously considering adopting something very similar to the dusts mod for our ritual system, it may sneak its way into crafting but we will see! Documentation is a big big part of the mod and i want to do it right, but coding a documentation system from scratch isn't that easy and currently i am the only one working on this project lol my texturer and coders are MIA currently so ya.
i wanted to give a better explanation of the crafting system as efforts to do so before resulted in an abstract idea that nobody really understood. I put together some rough diagrams to show how it will work, bearing in mind that changes will most likely occur, and that for the first update only 1 or two stages will be utilized.
stage 4 5 and 6 -4th stage adds a layer of circles to the 3rd stage, 5th stage adds a layer of circles to the 4th stage, and 6th stages is the diagram marked fruit of life
the circles represent crafting spaces, and will have pedestals in which the player can place 1 item in each pedestal. Each layer, or ring of circles is essentially a separate crafting area, and everything required within that area is shapeless, so you can place in whatever order, however items meant to be in the first layer can only be in the first layer, etc. There is more complexities with liquified essence as a fuel source and the occasionally sacrifice of mobs. To activate the recipe you simply right click anywhere on the ground where this glyph is with an empty hand and if you have everything it will craft for you. to upgrade all you have to do is right click an upgrade item to the glyph and it will upgrade for you, so you don't have to know how to place everything lol. I want to know your guys opinion on this!
Yes, we are again switching gears though lol. After writing the documentation and lore for the mod we are realizing that the first update alone is as large as thaumcraft, and the ideas from your mod would fit into one of 4 schools of magic. I would love to collaborate with you on it if that was something you would be interested in
Absolutely. I'd love to be part of it. I've given up on getting a coder for my mod, and the forums lost interest in it a while ago. Development is coming along nicely, would love anyone able to help with coding some of the bigger systems in the mod to do so. Documentation is almost complete and then a lot of new features can be added quickly.
Ive updated the mod. This is very close to the final beta release. New features will come less often as the team will be taking a short break to come up with future ideas. For now the mod is available on curse forge and we will update the forum post tomorrow. As always suggestions and bug reports are appreciated!
