I'll release for both versions, but the 1.7.10 will not have all of the improvements that 1.8 will have.
- Vanilla Tile Entities Recoded (hopper, beacon, furnance)
- Smart Chunk Ticking
- Better Trigonometry algorithms
- Better Memory Control
- TNT Cap (limit how many explosions can happen in a single tick)
- Better Particle Renderer
And a few other improvements that I'm still thinking about
Will these enhancements be options in your config, in case they conflict somehow with other mods? They all sounds really useful, but you never know how other mods will react. ><
Downloaded 1.8 version for 1.8 forge, doesn't work..
"Doesn't work" does not help. Do you have any crash logs?
The 1.8 version is for Minecraft 1.8.0, not 1.8.8
BetterFps does not appear in the Forge mod list due to a missing feature in FML (it should appear in LiteLoader's mod list), but it IS working.
I would very much recommend talking to Player Guichaguri. So you can get betterfps working in tandem with fastcraft, which pretty much everyone uses now.
.. BetterFPS *does* work with FastCraft. I'm using it in 3 different modpacks right now. It's CoFHTweaks with which it crashes and burns, and that was when it was in beta. It may function correctly now.
<goes to test>
BetterFPS 1.0.1 does in fact work with CoFHTweaks 1.0.2B1 (latest version on Curseforge). Think that might be my go-to combo now.
I've tested all algorithms, but none of them made any difference at all.
I kept standing still, with weather off, night off, OptiFine's fast math option disabled and without any other algorithm tweaking mod (to not interfere with the results), and the debug screen enabled to monitor the changes for more or less 5 minutes each, in my slow computer. I started monitoring for vanilla, so I could compare. Then kept changing to the next algorithm each after the 5 minutes of testing, and restarting. Each time I changed to the next, 1 more FPS was increased. So I thought "Okay, now let's just keep testing to see what algorithm increases more". Then after I tested all algorithms and having an increase of 3 FPS compared to vanilla, I changed back to vanilla algorithm to check if the last one really increased FPS. But the surprise was that the FPS when using vanilla algorithm was exactly the same as the last algorithm. Then I realized that it wasn't the algorithm which was increasing the FPS, but my computer that coincidently was rendering a bit faster after all of these restarts...
Uninstall Optifine and test them again. IMO, Optifine does more harm than good. If you're using it for shaders, I recommend not (I don't have any experience with shaders, my toaster can't run them). If you're using it for connected textures, IIRC, MCpatcher does that without needing optifine.
Look into fastcraft (1.21 is the latest, but I'm using 1.22 test 17, works slightly better IMO). Based on my experience, Riven's Full will output higher FPS on average. Riven's Half will output FPS that doesn't fluctuate as much, albeit an average of about 5-10 less (Basically, the difference between fluctuating from 45-75fps and just getting a stable 55-65fps. These results were in a more laggy biome, I get about 70-80fps in most biomes---I've dropped a ton of the more lag inducing mods since my last reply).
Uninstall OptiFine and test them again. IMO, OptiFine does more harm than good.
The problem is that I use many mods (75 according to Forge, 70 per se, excluding 30+ others that I removed in order to reduce Forge loading time) and OptiFine helps to reduce the lag, providing more options for better performance, i.e., everything disabled, changed to "fast" or to the lowest possible value, every performance enhancing option enabled, and running at 800x600 full screen. The only things I keep enabled is the sun/moon, and some useful animations like dripping water. Shaders only in my dreams. Also I have Fastcraft installed too (1.21), but apparently it isn't doing anything either. With all of this, I get a max of 23 fps (this when at an empty place, like a desert or above a very high hill) and average of 12 fps (I think my toaster is much worse than yours.. ).
Do you think that if I remove OptiFine and test all algorithms again, I would maybe get a higher FPS than with OptiFine (considering that I would lose the sun/moon and useful animations)?
Ok, I tested again, now without OptiFine. I didn't tested all algorithms, just Riven's Full and Half, but I got terrible results (so much lag, almost unplayable). Then I added Fastcraft 1.22 test 17, that reduced lag a little. Then I added back OptiFine, and everything got good. For what I could notice, I got 3-5 fps increase. However, I'm experiencing some lag spikes while walking, and I noticed that this happens when farther chunks are unloaded, but I don't know if it's BetterFps or Fastcraft who's causing it.
