Hi, I just re downloaded with the latest version of 1.7.10 where you fixed the black and red issue and I must say it works perfectly so far. Please continue either development on the mod or just continuation. It's the only mod out there that does what it does and is light weight and simple. Thank you for what you have done so far with it. I can't see playing minecraft with out it.

Development will certainly be continued, I'm working on a big update at the moment. I find it rather odd that no one else has done this.

So this happened after I was blown up by a creeper. After a few seconds the red and black went away and I was able to play again however when I hit the escape key the red and black appears but when I let go of the escape key the red and black goes away. I have a hundred plus other mods installed so I'm not sure if there is a conflict or not.

I think the problem is that I don't know much about OpenGL(The library used to render the overlay), so I'm probably forgetting something, since this issue keeps popping up, I'm going to temporarily stop development on the new version of DangerSense to find out what causes it. Did the creeper explosion kill you?

No I didn't die. I do however have mob griefing set to false.
EDIT: Maybe you could make a post in mods discussion and ask if some one knows of a solution or might be able to help.
I've been working on a pretty major update to DangerSense, I'm calling it 0.3.0. It will change the DangerSense to be a potion and allow you to detect hostile mobs. I've made a video showing the main feature, the quality is not the best but it's decent(I don't have good internet, so I don't like uploading or downloading large files).

Sorry guys, I couldn't get it working , I have however made a new release with a potion form that is craftable and can be found in all structure chests except Bonus Chests and Blacksmith chests. The release is for 1.7.10, a 1.8 version will come in a few days.
If you couldn't get the essence to work I have another idea that you might be able to incorporate...
Why not have a helmet that allows you to have heightened senses which is crafted from the mob essence you can get from drops? You could for example have the following helmets:
Helmet of Creeper Sensing (crafted with creeper essence)
Helmet of Zombie Sensing (crafted with zombie essence)
etc etc
Helmet of Hostile Sensing, which is found only in dungeon chests. This lets you sense every hostile mob.
Helmet of Peaceful Sensing, which is found only in blacksmith chests. This lets you sense every passive and peaceful creature.
Then you can use a Player TickHandler event so that when you wear the helmets the sense effect is turned on for the particular subset of mobs or mob. You've already made your potion effect so there should be some way to apply that to the helmet, and you'd just need something to detect what mobs other mods contain and create essences depending on that.
The part of the essence's code this would need was the part that was broken. The way I was doing the essence it would have allowed detection of specific vanilla and modded mobs with no extra coding from me or mod authors. I'm sure what I am trying to do is possible, I've just got to find the right way.

Using your latest version for 1.7.10 I get the red overlay but the rest of the screen goes black.
Is this with all monsters or just the first one encountered in a new world?
