Geko's Lasers adds laser weapons and tools to Minecraft.
Lasers are made with Laserite Ore, which can be found deep underground. The ore gives off a low level of light, and can be mined with at least an iron pickaxe or equivalent.
Note that Thermal Expansion (and its dependencies!) are required to be also installed.
Geko's Lasers is still in development, so things will change often. The mod is currently very unbalanced (mainly in regards to power), but it is playable! Your feedback is most appreciated!
If you download and play the mod, let me know your thoughts! If anything breaks, or you have any suggestions, let me know in this thread or over at the issue tracker.

Pew pew all the things!
Laserite Ore and Laserite Block
Items and Crafting
Put laserite into a Thermal Expansion Energetic Infuser to energise it with Redstone Flux
Pulverizing laserite in a Thermal Expansion Pulverizer will refine it. Refined laserite can be dyed using any Minecraft dye
Crafting energized laserite with 4 diamonds creates a laser reactor - the core of any laser weapon
The laser reactor is used to make cases. Each laser weapon has a different case
Laser Rifle Case
Precision Mining Laser Case
Wide Mining Laser Case
A case can be combined with refined laserite to create a laser weapon
Putting the laser weapon into a crafting grid will return the refined laserite and case. All energy is lost from the laser, however
v0.1 - Initial upload
Things Still To Do
Add a few more types of lasers like explosive mining lasers and silk touch lasers
Balance costs, such as power storage and use, crafting costs...
PvP Laser Skirmish mode
Feel free to use this mod in modpacks. You dont need to ask, but it'd be nice to let me know, either on this thread, in a PM, or on the curse page. Please dont claim this mod as your own. If you want to share the mod, all I ask is that instead of linking the direct file, link back to this thread or the download page.
If I helped you in any way or agree in my ideas or posts, make sure you click that green arrow pointing up below my post or simply huggle me! I use 1.7.10 (Modded), so when I comment that I like a 1.8 mod, I will comment to downgrade to 1.7.10. I support no pics, no clicks. Suggestions that I think that are the best deserves a banner!
It is almost time to say goodbye to 1.7.10 because of the recent surge of big 1.9 mods.
Why MCreator sucks: jcm2606's file (doesn't open a new tab) He allows/welcomes anyone to link the file, so I put it here in my signature for people to know how MCreator functions. I thank jcm2606 (he's awesome) for creating the document/file and I'm just here to spread the word.
I took a look at your image assets as I think your mod belongs in packs and I'm planning John Smith support. It seems that you have a proliferation of images because you make a separate image for each tier and color. There is a better approach...
I tend to design images in Gimp using layers to separate sections out that I want to modify, say one for tier and one for color. You already support the hilts, By making separate images for just the blades and compositing them the way Tinker's construct does you will save a lot of work... for texture pack support as well as yourself.
It's also possible to make a colormap so that you can make a white version of a blade or refined crystal and the others are handled by the map like a type of shader. Ars Magica 2 does this with it's spellbooks. Then you have 4 tiered hilts and one blade image for all 64 swords.
P.S. I noticed that your mod made it to 1.9, and that's nearly perfect. Minecraft is currently at 1.10, however. The transition should be relative smooth compared to the move to 1.8.
