This mod is discontinued for a little while now - I have a different big mod to work on. I don't have any other plans for mods, and will try to make more of a commitment to this one after I am finished with the mod I'm working on.
(Remember: Don't worry! I'll get back to it! Eventually... )
Moonlight Transformation
As the cold, pale light of the Night falls upon you, you begin to feel strange...
Concepts
Moonlight Transformation is a mod about becoming a werewolf and hunting down your prey. Werewolves will become stronger and stronger as they feed off of the flesh of their unlucky victims... Players become werewolves by getting bitten (explained later) and soon become a werewolf. As they become stronger, they are more of a threat, lurking in the woods, attacking the villagers by nightfall. There are also NPC werewolves, which the player can interact with. The player, well, wolf-player, will be able to recruit a pack of werewolf NPCs and have a small group of right-hand wolves beside him. The wolf-player may have to prove his mettle by challenging other wolves in an attempt to recruit other werewolves. Werewolf players probably won't be able to use tools and stuff in wolf form, but they probably will be able to use them in human form in order to make it possible for doing regular Minecraft things. However, combat in human form for werewolves will not be desirable, because even though they may have armor and swords, they would be weaker than normal players, meaning that it would be harder to fight regular style.
Werewolf players will have an improved scent, meaning that their HUD will be able to tell them the closest humans around, which will be very important for helping track down unwary players. There may even be lost villagers at night, calling for help, which, of course, is in vain - the Woods at night is very dangerous - inadvertently waiting for the wolves to come upon them. Wolf-players will transform at nightfall, providing that they are outside, and become different... more beast-like... actually having a new model (RenderPlayerAPI will be required). However, in the daylight, they are weaker and slower than a normal human, and would probably want to avoid the sunlight, a powerful weapon against the feral flesh engraved in their souls.
However, the player may be a human, and help the village NPCs (they won't be vanilla :D) and hunt werewolves (including NPCs). The player must lead the village and attempt to fight back the dark, lupine woods in which one who is alone may never come back. Villagers will be able to trade with human players and even be hired, so the player can have a small militia that is designed to fight back the
(Feral bar idea removed, instead the player will have two attributes, werewolf strength and human relations. Same effects as feral bar - strength will make the werewolf players become better at leading werewolves and become stronger, human relations makes the player be able to do more things with human NPCs)
This mod will aim to add a new dark forest dimension (called The Woods) in which everything will take place. The reason for a new dimension is to control the field of play so that the mod has an appropriate environment. There will be many biomes here, including:
Deep Woods (currently added, will be changed. so far, it is the about same as Roofed Forest in vanilla, but I will change it a bit)
Pine woods (currently added, will be changed. like Mega Taiga but denser and taller trees)
Mountainous regions (will be added, covered in snow and pine trees)
Larch forest (will be added)
In addition, there is a clearing at spawn, to give new players spawn in a slightly safer place to be in.
Werewolves will be also vulnerable to silver, which will be an added ore as rare as diamond (to prevent people from running around with silver everything), and silver weapons will be craftable out of this mod's silver and maybe other mods' silver (basically, the recipe will just check if the ingot has "silver" in its name, and consider it a silver ingot, but this may not be implemented because other mods' silver may be too common). Silver arrows will also be available, along with a hunting bow which pulls back faster than a normal one. Werewolves will probably be able to become less harmed by silver as they progress and become stronger, but silver will always be a weapon of choice when encountering werewolves. Warning: Silver things will be very expensive because silver is so rare. Even just 2 silver arrows will cost you 1 silver ingot (may change), so one must use his/her silver wisely.
When a human or werewolf dies (including a player), a dead body will drop down. Werewolves eat the human dead bodies to gain hunger. If you are a human, you can loot dead bodies to get items.
Developer news!

Added human NPCs and werewolf NPCs. There are lost villagers, who call out and try to find help. Also, the player can howl to the other werewolves to communicate (e.g. "follow me!"). This stuff is still a WIP.
Also, I added a "nearest entity tracker". If you are in werewolf mode, there is a compass in the corner of the screen pointing to the closest living entity ("living" as in a mob or something, so it can include undead). Also tracks players, and (hopefully) works long distances.

I don't know if anyone is actually reading this, but when I finish the project, I want to look back on what I was doing and thinking around when I started this mod.
Anyways, I actually didn't get the animations done, because I was using an overcomplicated method that was totally nt necessary. Fortunately, I've used a more vanilla approach (do not worry, the animations for the werewolf model are now actually better than if I had used my method) and things are coming along very smoothly. The animations should take 20-30 minutes, maybe less, so I will be able to start working on some NPCs very soon.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the NPCs look intelligent? I'm pretty good at AI now so I could do most things.
January 27
Okay, I finally got the animations for the werewolf done (hooray!). Now I have to do the texture, and then I can move on to other things (specifically, NPCs)!
Here are some current fun facts about being a werewolf
- Werewolves can not have anything in their inventory, or no armor
- They currently get speed 2 and strength 3, but that will definitely be changed, and werewolves will certainly be able to be more powerful
- Werewolves eat food off the ground by approaching it then sneaking (to bend down) to eat the meal. The food are consumed 1 per 2 seconds
- Werewolves who eat raw meat get the same effects as eating the cooked version (e.g. eating raw porkchops in werewolf mode gives the same effects as eating cooked porkchops)
- Werewolves cannot get hunger from eating foods (e.g. rotten flesh) due to their improved wolfish digestive systems!
i cant wait for this! this is a great idea! also two suggestions: being able to run on all fours to go faster as a werewolf, also the way to the dark forest being a wolf den in the vanilla dark forest biome!

I probably won't do the wolf-on-all-fours one, because animating is *extremely* hard - I've been working on the model for 5 hours yesterday, and it still is messed up!
Although wolf dens would be a great idea - I should add that to my "planned features" list. The wolf dens probably won't contain vanilla wolves, though; because vanilla wolves don't do too much and mostly wander around and kill sheep (other than the fact that you can tame them, but the wolves in this mod will be more beastlike and feral, not able to be domesticated).
looks awesome. after you've gotten all the basics down, i'd really love to see a bigger and more intimidating werewolf model. i really like the concept and i hope you dont give up on this mod.

I might make a new werewolf model, but I'm not too good at modelling. Would you like to make one?
i wouldnt have a clue as to where to start. i used to do some modding years ago but i ended up quitting minecraft and im only getting back into it now lol. sorry.
I had a lot of trouble with the werewolf model, ended up completely redoing it and the model you see is my second try (the first one looked like a wolf with joints ._.)
And the only reason I could get the werewolf model down was because of pictures off of the internet that I looked at to help me with the model
man, you're awesome, i wish i could code like you!
I will definitely play this mod when it gets released, and if you want any beta testers, I'll be more than willing to try!

I'm taking a temporary break from this mod because I don't want to get bored of it, but I would be happy to give an early release once I get back in to it.
I can't wait for this mod 2 come out! Maybe they should add vampires or werewolves in 1.9.....they r working on that right now, and I heard that they will be adding road blocks.

Put your spoiler here.:|)::arrow:
Road blocks? Where is that? Is Mojang working on something useful for once? I hope they add something interesting, because there aren't any really interesting challenges in vanilla right now (I have been playing for a long time now - since 2011, so I ran out of things to do).
This mod will come out some time (as in, probably not soon unfortunately)... I have way too many mods to make! First, I have to finish my magic mod, then I will come back to this, and I still have to make an abhorsen mod, a feudal Japan mod, and maybe even a new ClothingCraft or a paint your own picture mod! I have too many ideas... But hopefully I'll come back to it soon

I hope that people will enjoy playing this mod. It would be fun to have a server running this mod with werewolf players and human players.

Anyways... this is what is currently happening in the magical world of modding!
The villagers have taken heavy casualties! Will they survive...?
And yes, those are dead bodies. They will probably be eatable and lootable.

If you like it I can give it to you
Edit: I can also animate.
Nice. You might be able to become a modeller. You can send it to me, and perhaps I can tweak it a tiny bit.
