that's exactly what i meant, maybe you could use the ForgeMultipart api somehow?
Maybe, if i did go about tackling this, i'd more than likely make a block that stores the ingots in its inventory and renders the ingots above it but grants the player access to the inventory from outside the gui. So you could pick up ingots with the tongs from a pile of ingots you have stockpiled.
Men i would love to do a ModSpolight, but i still need to understand better how the mod works and how everything in general works
Ha, yea i'm working on a webpage that'll have everything outlined and explained clearly. Plus a wiki for certain crafting. Still in the works. Lots and lots of things still to do. If you want to make a spotlight just give me a heads up and ill explain things to you on TeamSpeak
And a journey of re crafting molds is not one ill be on.
I'll never understand why people feel the necessity to comment that they won't play a mod. If you aren't going to try it than don't bother, otherwise leave some decent constructive criticism and be done with it.
As far as the mod goes everything so far looks terrific, I have especially been looking for something with a more intensive crafting and forging process for some time now. A couple other mods get close but this seems to take the cake so far. I especially like the way the smelting is shaping up so far and the the tong system is very cool. I know it is a bit outside the scope of forging but are there any plans to look further into subsequent crafting systems like leather work and carpentry. I am sure myself and others would like to see this detailed and semi-realistic approach to trade work and building expanded upon.

Thank You for the post, absolutely. I intend to make tools that work on blocks in the world. A good example of this is the crafting blade. I intend to make a player use the crafting blade on a 2 tall 1 wide set of wood blocks and it'll slowly carve the blocks into a longbow. I'm going to make a drying rack for leather, so leather will have to be dried before being able to work it. I already have the leather shears which cut leather into straps which can then be crafted into woven leather which is used in some recipes.
I'm almost finished with inlay crafting which will allow you to upgrade your tools via the anvil and inlay hammer.
I have a lot of things I want to implement but I'm finishing one feature at a time.
In terms of carpentry was there anything in specific you were thinking of?

Yeah I had a couple things I think would fit pretty well, however I was also going to ask if you wanted some lower res texture help. I noticed all the stuff is floating at around 256x or higher and while I personally don't use 16x it would certainly help mesh with people's existing setups' a bit better. If your interested I can jump on TS tomorrow to figure it out.

I can always lower the texture res but i like the res where its at. If you have some ideas post them here so other viewers can get ideas from it or interject suggestions on the discussion. That being said, you're more than welcome on the TeamSpeak anytime. If i'm not on just poke someone that your from this thread and they'll take care of you.
Crafting process is really interesting, you actually have the feeling that you are building the items in a workshop. For me it's the right kind of grind, please sir may I have another.
Some new changes coming in the upcoming DEV push. Wootz Iron Ore. Iron ore found in the jungles of Western India produced the highest grade damascus steel in the world. So sharp were the blades that they led to legends of blades that could cut a falling scarf.
So how can you make such legendary tools? Explorers in search of the highest grade Iron must find a jungle and mine its iron ore. They will find that the iron of the jungles isn't the same grade as normal iron found elsewhere. Using the special hi-carbon jungle leaves along with the wootz iron in the crucible gives to extremely hi durability tools and weapons. This type of steel is known as Damascus Steel.
Damascus steel will be released very soon. Within the next three days. More weapons and tools made of Damascus Steel will follow.

Thanks, hopefully the tool inlaying mechanics will be finished today or tomorrow. Then i can get to work on weapon upgrading.

Sandbox games are not about the destination but about the journey to it.
