This mod is in development, and is a huge work-in-progress. There are no download links as there is not enough "suitable" content to publish a mod as. Besides that, the current features are extremely buggy, and need to go under major Beta testing as well. Check back to this thread every few days for updates on development.
Project Fusion
--------------------
If you want a current, always up to date list, check out this document here. For those of you who are too lazy to go to that document, here's a spoiler tag with some information.
Project Fusion is a mod which will incorporate new technological machines, advanced magical abilities, and a realistic overhaul of the current Minecraft progression system. With many new machines, powers, and crafting recipes, Project Fusion will be an awesome addition to your modded Minecraft experience, with awesome features to explore.
There are three main aspects to Project Fusion: Technology, Magic, and Realism. In the Technological aspect of things, experiment with new machines to play with, a create a complex factory system. In the Magical aspect of things, craft powerful items in which you can use to turn items into blocks, and vice versa, plus many more "magical" features! In the Realism aspect of things, you'll start your journey off not knowing how to craft a crafting table, furnace, or even wooden tools -- Minecraft will never be the same.
Ideas / Features --------------------
This feature / idea list will list everything that I have planned to have in the mod. Anything that is bolded has been coded. Anything that has a strikethrough isn't possible to make yet. Anything that is left normal is incomplete.
Progression
-- Wooden Tools (except swords / hoes) will beremoved -- Punching wood with your hand is ineffective (not sure whether or not this is possible at the moment)
-- Breaking leaves gives you sticks It is not possible to add sticks as a drop from leaves.
-- Need to find a new way to obtain sticks -- Use sticks and pieces of flint to make a Flint Axe -- This axe is used to chop down trees, but has extremely low durability. -- Use sticks and pieces of flint to make a Flint Pickaxe -- This pickaxe is used to mine some stone in order to make a Stone Pickaxe. Has extremely low durability. -- Crafting Tables have a new recipe (Shapeless: Crafting Hammer + 3 Planks) -- Furnaces have a new recipe
-- Furnace's are only able to smelt non-ore materials
-- Smelter's are used to smelt ores, and require a new fuel, Coal Coke. -- Coal Coke (Shapeless: 1 Coal + 1 Raw Carbon Fiber = 2 Coal Cokes) The fuel part is still incomplete. -- Machine Frames are needed for all Machines
-- A Millstone is used to grind up materials into new materials (e.g, Putting a piece of bone will yield 3 Bonemeal. This means that you cannot craft bonemeal anymore. There will be many other uses for this as well, for example turning Gravel into Flint).
-- Granulator is used to grind up ores into ore dusts (2 per ore). Smelting ore dusts in a Smelter creates a melted version of the ore's material, in which it can be used to craft tools / armor / other items.
Blocks
Machines
-- Machine Frame This block is used for the basic building blocks for all machines in Project Fusion.
It is crafted using Cobblestone, Iron Sheets, and a Wooden Gear.
-- Millstone The Millstone will act as a machine to make obtaining certain materials more realistic. For example, you can put a bone inside the Millstone in which it will turn into bonemeal. This will work with many items, such as Blaze Rods / Blaze Powder and such.
If you put Gravel in the Millstone, you can turn a piece of Gravel into Flint as an alternative.
In the absence of an “energy system”, this block will act similar to a furnace, requiring a certain fuel, maybe even coal.
The Millstone requires a Stone Gear to craft, along with some Iron Sheets, Cobblestone, and a Machine Frame.
-- Granulator
A normal Millstone won’t cut it when it comes to grinding up ores. While smelting is still a primary source of obtaining ingots from ores, the Granulator will make the Smelter look like a fool. When grinding ores, you can receive 2 ore dusts, instead of an Ingot. Throw the ore dust in a Smelter and get Melted (ore).
The Granulator is crafted using a Millstone, even more Iron Sheets, and a Iron Gear.
-- Smelter
In Project Fusion, you cannot smelt ores in a Furnace. Instead, you have to use a Smelter. The Smelter will smelt an ore into a “Melted” version of it, which then can be used to craft tools / armor.
The Smelter is crafted using a Furnace, Iron Sheets, and a Smelting Rack.
There are still many other features that I need to go over, such as where you will get Raw Carbon Fiber, and much more. The main reason for this post is to get some people interested in the project, and to help provide ideas for what they want.
I still need to work on some "Magical Items", but right now my mind is wrapped up in all the technological features right now.
I will update this thread when I come up with new ideas, or when y'all come up with some new ideas!
I would like more ideas to start brainstorming some more, so if anyone is interested in throwing around some ideas, that'd be great!
Other than that, I'm going to start working on not being able to break wood logs with your fist, but rather an axe, and try and find a new way to obtain sticks besides from logs.
After a quick one hour coding session, I managed to knock out a ton of miscellaneous items, plus a few new ores.
A list of what I actually added can be found in this spoiler:
-- Ore Dusts
Every single ore will be able to be grinded in a Granulator. Once an ore has been grinded, two Ore Dusts will come out, which than can be smelted in a Smelter to produce melted ore.
-- Melted Ores
Once an ore has been melted, you’ll get a melted version of it. In order to use this “melted” version, you will need to put it in an Iron Cast. The cast will form it into an ingot, which can then be used for what you wish. Note: Some items / blocks will require sheets of metal to be crafted. You can get a sheet of metal by putting the ingot in a crafting table with an Iron Hammer.
-- Gears
Gears are used for certain machines that require gears (duh…). Gears come in five different kinds: Wooden, Stone, Iron, Copper, and Titanium. Each gear is used for certain machines, and more expensive gears are used for more powerful machines.
-- Stone/Iron Cast
An Iron Cast is used to turn melted ores into ingots. First, you will need to make a Stone Cast using Cobblestone, in which you can upgrade using iron sheets. Stone Casts have a durability of around 250, until it cracks and breaks, whereas Iron Casts have a durability of around 2500.
-- Copper Ore
Copper ore will act as one of the main ores in the mod. A LOT of things will require copper to be made, mainly everything to do with machines. It is a very common ore, between Coal and Iron, and will have a little bit more ore than iron.
-- Tin Ore
Tin Ore is another “main” ore in the industrial side of things, and will be used mainly in miscellaneous parts needed to make certain machines. It will be about as rare as Gold Ore, but will spawn all the way up to level 64.
-- Aluminum Ore
This ore is a medium tiered ore which is used for medium tiered machines / items. It will be mainly used as Aluminum Sheets, but will also be used for other things as well.
-- Titanium Ore
This ore is a high-tiered ore, rarer, and more powerful than diamond, and will be used for end-game machines. In early versions of the mod, there may not be a use for this ore.
-- Magnetite Ore
This will be a main ore used in the magical side of things. Since Magic isn’t on my priority list, it will be explained at a later date.
Only thing left to do for these items / blocks is get some textures loaded, but I am not in a texturing mood at the moment ;). If someone wants to make textures, feel free to start knocking out some the items I've listed above in this post, and the thread.
