Practicalities is a mod for Minecraft 1.7.10 that focuses on adding simple and practical functionality. The mod is currently in development, and if you are going to use it please make sure to file any bugs on this post. I plan on making regular changes to this mod, so check back often to see what is new.

Luminus Rod
An item that when right clicked will place an invisible light source on the ground. Recharge it by placing it in a crafting grid with a Radiant Charger.
Rare Earth Magnet
Get all the Stuff and Things! Will pull XP orbs and Items directly to your inventory, and will work through walls.
Smooth Glowstone
It is glowstone, but all smooth and shiny
Refinery A simple early game way to double your ore output. Requires more fuel, but has a chance of providing and extra ingot. You can also recycle your tools and armor in it as well.
Matter Transporter
No one knows how it works, but it is capable of moving blocks from one location to another.
Imbued Sword An old powerful weapon capable of defeating any foe.
Imbued Tool
An almost magical tool capable of making work faster and more efficient.
Sitis Stick
Hold it in your hand and right click to make the rain go away
Wither Farm
A way to automate the killing of the Wither boss!
Yes, don't ask. I would not have made this if I didn't wan't people to use it. I do reserve all rights to the code, but feel free to distribute in packs as long as you are not charging for it.

The Magnetic Core was changed to the Radiant Core so if you are upgrading from a previous version you will be shown a missing id error. Once I hit my first Alpha release I will be more cautious about these kind of changes.
Cool mod! Hey, what is your policy about modpacks? Because I'd like to include your mod in mine... I'd give you credit somehow, with a link to this forum thread, or your website of course.
Just a quick update. Within the next 2 weeks I should have the mod to a point where I am comfortable marking it as an Alpha release. At that point I will be opening it up to any public mod pack that wants it. If anyone is having any problems with something in the pack please message me so that I can fix it
Other than that i'm just planning out the direction I want this mod to go. I have some pretty fun ideas to implement and I am excited to share them with you later!
OK...well i didn't expect this to happen but I was able to finish everything up today.
I am considering this the first Alpha release. That means you should expect bugs, but hopefully not that many. Be warned I haven't tested this too much with other mods. Grab it from the website and let me know what you think!
Rare Earth Magnet is the greatest magnet i have seen. None of that annoying thing where it tries to pull items to you, even though your inventory is full.
Btw, is end portal block's harvestability a toggle option? I don't really like that specific feature (just my case xD), and I'd like them to need at leats more effort to be movable (maybe with an expensive matter transporter)
