Amalgam brings a new way of crafting to minecraft! It allows incredible customization of tools, swords and armor by allowing you to combine the properties of different crafting materials together. Using the stone crucible you can combine any amount of iron, gold and diamond together into an amalgam with the properties you desire, and using that amalgam on the casting table you can make weapons, tools and armor with varying attributes.
This mod adds:
Stone Crucible: Used for melting and combining materials. Requires a heat source. Don't jump in, you will catch on fire!
Casting Table: Used to cast items out of amalgam. Pressing on empty slots in the GUI will allow you to form different casting patterns that will allow you to create different items.
Stone Tongs: Used to move liquid amalgam around. You need these to get amalgam out of the crucible and onto the casting table.
Amalgam Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, Hoe, Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots: These are all created on the casting table with amalgam and will have different attributes depending on the properties of the amalgam used to make them.
* This mod is almost release ready, if anyone wants to help test the mod download it and give me feedback, find bugs, etc.*

Added video and updated to version 0.1.0. All basic functionality is now in the mod, time to refine the mechanics and implement better textures and models.
Do you think you will make this with Metalurgy support?
I have made it so adding metals from other mods should be really easy. I may make a compatibility mod that just adds support for metals from other popular mods, and I might make it so users can add support for other metals from the config file.

Updated to version 0.3.0 and added a new video.
I am getting very close to release. All I need is to find bugs and finish up textures (any help with textures would be appreciated.) All criticism is welcome and encouraged. After I finish and release this mod (hopefully in the next week) I will start a companion mod which will use this form of crafting for chests, furnaces, pipes etc. allowing for extremely customizable machines, storage, ore processing...
I will also make a compatibility mod, allowing materials from other popular mods to be used in this mod.
I absolutely love the concept of this mod, it seems simple, but allows for a lot of customisation of tools, weapons and armour. Great job on this, I can't wait when the release comes out.

Might I make a request, a bow with an amalgam handle that's properties also change depending on the mixture or some form of arrows that would do the same idea.

There should be a video at the top of the first post, is it not showing up?
[Don't let the offline notice fool you.]

I still need to finish the models, make better textures, refine some of the amalgam algorithms and add config options before release.

It seems the harvest level code has been messed up, I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

*Thanks to darkphan for pointing the bug out!
