ATTENTION: If you are updating a world with HexWool from an older version to Minecraft 1.7, you need to first update to 0.3.4 and load the world once. Ignore any ID mismatch warnings on load, that's supposed to happen.
Hey everyone, this is my first mod, and I've been working on it for a while now. Finally decided to release it, there aren't any known bugs at the moment, let me know if you find any. As I said this is my first mod, so your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
If you want to talk to me directly, you can find me on EsperNet IRC (webchat link) in #Techjar. If I don't respond then I'm probably not at the computer, so just wait a bit. Anyways, on with the usual stuff...
- Ported to Minecraft 1.7.10
- Added a special easter egg, see if you find it!
- Changed block names for 1.7 compatibility
- Fixed incorrect mcmod.info
- First released version
How to Use
First you must make a Wool Colorizer. The wool in the recipe can be any color.
You can use it one of 2 ways: go into the config file and change "creative" to true for free coloring, or supply the Wool Colorizer with cyan, magenta, yellow and black dyes. (Just like printer ink!) Simply put a hexadecimal color code into the box (if you don't know how to use those, a quick search for "hex color picker" should help, just don't include the "#" character), press the button and presto, wool in exactly the color you wanted! As an added bonus, it can also color leather armor.
Got any great screenshots? Post them, I may add them!
Feel free to make a video, I may add it here!

Feel free to include the mod in any pack you want! Credit to me and a link back to this topic is nice, but not required. Tell me about mod packs that include HexWool and I'll list them here.
The source code is on GitHub, so feel free to have a look at it. I'm pretty open to pull requests if it seems useful, so go ahead if you want. If you want to help translate the mod, it's greatly appreciated. You can find the English language file here. Keep in mind, you will be expected to keep the translation updated.
If you find any bugs, please report them using the GitHub issue tracker. If it's a crash, be sure to include logs or else I can't do anything about it.
Q: How about a color picker?
A: That's planned! Keep an eye out for it.
Q: Why did I crash?
A: Well I don't know. Can you post a crash report? I need it to do ANYTHING about your crash.
Q: Can you add a creative menu?
A: No. I just don't see a good way to do it, considering you're intended to just use whatever RGB color suits your needs. In most cases you'd just be copying that color from an image editor. And no, I'm not going to put every single color in there. You don't want to scroll through a list of 16.7 million gradually changing colors, not to mention when I actually tried that the game just crashed.
My mod includes an API class for making your items work in the Wool Colorizer. It has full javadoc, you can find it on on GitHub.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Awesome mod, this should be in vanilla IMO. I'm going to second the request for hardened clay and stained glass... would also be cool if you could make dyes with it, since you can color eight wool blocks in the crafting table with one dye.
