*siiiiigh* If only I had the time...
Has this mod been spot-lighted yet? If not, I think this could benefit from some more attention. Then, perhaps, there might be at least some small chance for clamor from the community and demand for Mojang to implement it in the vanilla game, or perhaps a community of modders to start chipping in to finish the mod.

There was a big fuss on reddit a few weeks ago where a bunch of players were asking for cubic chunks.
TL;DR no one with the ability to do anything about it heard or cared.
Noise-making has been tried already with no success.

But it hasn't been a feature presentation in the news section of the forum, though, as far as I know. I would imagine that would reach a more diverse audience. Is there any way to get the attention of those who choose what news to present and see if they would be interested in highlighting this?

Sure? I have no idea how to do that. Anyone's welcome to give it a shot.
Well... personally, I would send a PM to Sacheverell or whatever his name is (the guy who posts all the news things) and see if he's interested in checking out some of your mods (ships mod and this one, I'd say both deserve a place on the front page).

Is it even spotlight-worthy yet? It's still basically unplayable with the current bugs and lack of terrain decoration (trees, etc.) Any attention would only be negative.
At least the decoration issue is almost fixed, if only that gravel issue could be sorted out.

Yay!! Ships Mod is much more polished. I think if we threw that one in front of more people, the mod could handle it. It's far from perfect, but it's very playable right now. Hopefully I can make more progress on the steam engines this weekend too!

Tall Worlds right now is more of a proof-of-concept prototype than an actual playable mod. Attention for Tall Worlds at this point shoudn't be to say "hey everyone, play this cool mod." The goal of any attention-getting campaign for Tall Worlds today should be more like "hey everyone, want more space to build? Convince Mojang to implement this. We have proof it's possible!"

Mojang will never doo this. they are overseen bye Microsoft and they are shy when it comes to big changes. knowing microsoft tho they will try to push for the win10 version and focus less on pc. they don't want to waste time end money that they are not going to make money off of. I think that is a pointless effort to get anything conclusive and interesting(in my opinion) out of the Microsoft corporate machine. You should stop this pointless persuit of pushing game changing features on the mainstream. It's just a load of useless crap.
I see that mods are the only fun thing I get out of this game anymore. The main game to me is a completely different game that is stale and boring. The only thing about the default game I like is the cube voxel engine and the world generation. even after a while the default worldgen gets boring so that just leaves the voxel engine.

First off, Win 10 Edition is for lower-specced PCs/tablets, and the plan is for it to stay that way. Secondly, Mojang is or has been interested in implementing cubic chunks, but there are several problems unique to cubic chunks(Lighting is one, I think TWM has already solved that). If TWM can prove that these problems are solvable without sacrificing performance, then cubic chunks stand a chance.

Descisions are made by original mojang team, and all microsoft did is give them more coders, so big descisions by the original team could be made without any issue. However, according to media (I don't think I am allowed to say the name of the specific press so I will keep quiet) minecraft does plan to move to a single global version where people on PC could play with people on iPad and people on android and people on xbox all at once.

Was that mojang teem ever friendly to big changes to the game? I don't think so. they probably even abandoned the "mod api" they said they were working on...

I honestly don't know, I don't think there's ever been something as big as cubic chunks.
However, they definitely considered cubic chunks, but there were some problems with it. If the community can fix those problems performantly, cubic chunks might be green-lighted. It would cause the mother of all backwards incompatibilities though, cuboid chunks would need to be converted to cubic chunks and the bedrock layer moved down. Plus you'd likely get 256 block high chunk walls.
The Mod API is still set for release eventually, but I don't have any great hopes for it, it sounds like it'll be for making plugins rather than mods. Even if it isn't, it'll have to be far better than Forge before I'll use it.

Ok. I think several of us ought to message Sacheverell. I will do so and ask her/him to check out Cuchaz's stuff and try to bring attention to Tall Worlds Mod. What would be awesome is if this publicity gets the attention of coders who might be able to help hammer out the kinks in the mod!

Well smooth lighting did start off as a mod, pistons as well, although that's from the time when Notch was still doing most of the things.

Good luck with that. He carries Mojang's water, and is not likely to promote anything that might conflict with whatever plans Mojang has. And changing the chunk scheme is not in Mojang's plan.

Please don't PM me asking for help, I will just redirect you to the appropriate forum, where there are others who are far more skilled than me.
I'm pretty sure Mojang would have implemented cubic chunks along time ago if they could...
Having the capability to do something, and believing the effort is worth it are two very different things.
I'm pretty sure Mojang has the capability to implement cubic chunks, but it would be so much work, I doubt they'd want to do it.
Studios tend to avoid huge compatibility-breaking engine changes many years after the release of the game. There needs to be a very big prize at the end of that tunnel if they're going to do it. Is being able to dig deeper and build higher worth it?
To players? Sure, why not. Players don't have to do any work to make it happen. They don't even have to pay for it.
To Mojang? Maybe not. Mojang has to pay for the work to make it happen. Sure, Mojang is rich, but maybe there are other uses for those resources that have a higher payoff-to-cost ratio?
companies want money. They don't want to waist money. once notch started to lean out of minecraft there was no sense of direction other than making money. Taking all that into consideration I don't see any hope for vanilla minecraft at all.
