None saved in the minecraft folder. It seemed to happen when I tried to close minecraft while having the M3L installer open. Minecraft, minecraft launcher, and M3L installer all crashed. "Java SE Binary" or whatever broke.
I've actually got to sleep, but I'll be back for more testing tomorrow!

Oh goodness... I just thought of how awesome it would be if Westeroscraft could implement this and your ships mod... ;_; Mountains and ships for reals!!!
I tried out the mod, and after a couple issues (i.e. the install button and having to switch to java 7), it ran fine (but a little laggy, since I had not allocated 8 GB of RAM, now I have).
It's quite good! However, I have found a few bugs (and reported one). I will probably report the others soon.
Edit: It's still a bit laggy with 8 GB of RAM for me. Probably my computer can't handle it well right now.

Let me provide a quick explanation for people who are concerned about memory issues and the lagging that results.
Vanilla Minecraft loads 67,600 cubes at the maximum 32-chunk render distance (65 * 65 * 16). The 16 is essentially hardcoded in, as a result of the 256 block height limit. Tall worlds removes that limit, thus enabling the taller worlds feature, but pays a price for that. With Tall Worlds enabled, Minecraft will load 65 * 65 * 65 cubes, or 274,625 cubes. This is a 4.0625x increase in the number of cubes loaded, and requires a corresponding increase in memory. A lot of the memory that gets used is retained in memory, not being freed up for garbage collection until the cube is unloaded from the world. The lagging results from hitting that memory limit and running out of memory.
As an example, I've set the render distance to the maximum, and the memory requirements climbs to over 9GB. If I wanted to render this distance regularly, I'd use 12-16 GB as the max. I usually leave it at ~24 chunks render distance, though, and this brings down the memory requirements by a lot (49*49*49 = 117,649 cubes).
We do know about this issue, and we haven't done any optimizations yet.
For now, I recommend reducing the render distance. This will reduce the number of cubes loaded, and correspondingly the memory requirements.
EDIT: Java 7 is required, but I recommend going straight to Java 8. The new Minecraft installer will provide a Java 8 JRE.
Issue 1: With 1.8.3 installed, the installer button of M3L flashes and changes from "Install" to "Install 1.8.3-0.2b". It does install it properly, but that's a weird and I guess unintended way of telling me o.O
You got it to work? Mine did the same thing but nothing happens on the splash screen in minecraft, so I assumed nothing was installed.

I did some more testing, and found some other issues. I opened issues for most of them on GitHub, but there are a couple that I haven't yet (portals not working at y>255, and maps only showing loaded chunks, and all chat messages being printed twice).

Hmm... I'm actually going to wait until there's a more stable release before I dive into this mod.
Just wondering, should that go in the OP too? Think I've seen some mod dev release beta versions of mods but not put them in the OP because they didn't want everyone to go "Z0MG NEW VERSION" and install it and when it breaks go "Y U NO WORK I'M NEVER USING UR MODS AGAIN".

I tried that (pretty much exactly) last night but it didn't work. I'll try a couple more times when I get home.
EDIT: Ok now I deleted the 1.8.3.jar and re-installed it, deleted the m3l beta 0.2 (installer and .jar) and reinstalled it. When I tried the installer again, instead of saying install, it said "Install 1.8.3-0.2b" right away. Is that an issue? BTW, It didn't work again, same issue as last time, instant crash and no crash report. If I get desperate, I might upload a video of my problem.
Does the launcher need to be open? 1.8.3 vanilla is installed.
EDIT: Nope, that just crashed all of the Java platform.

None saved in the minecraft folder. It seemed to happen when I tried to close minecraft while having the M3L installer open. Minecraft, minecraft launcher, and M3L installer all crashed. "Java SE Binary" or whatever broke.
I've actually got to sleep, but I'll be back for more testing tomorrow!

I tried out the mod, and after a couple issues (i.e. the install button and having to switch to java 7), it ran fine
(but a little laggy, since I had not allocated 8 GB of RAM, now I have).It's quite good! However, I have found a few bugs (and reported one). I will probably report the others soon.
Edit: It's still a bit laggy with 8 GB of RAM for me. Probably my computer can't handle it well right now.

Let me provide a quick explanation for people who are concerned about memory issues and the lagging that results.
Vanilla Minecraft loads 67,600 cubes at the maximum 32-chunk render distance (65 * 65 * 16). The 16 is essentially hardcoded in, as a result of the 256 block height limit. Tall worlds removes that limit, thus enabling the taller worlds feature, but pays a price for that. With Tall Worlds enabled, Minecraft will load 65 * 65 * 65 cubes, or 274,625 cubes. This is a 4.0625x increase in the number of cubes loaded, and requires a corresponding increase in memory. A lot of the memory that gets used is retained in memory, not being freed up for garbage collection until the cube is unloaded from the world. The lagging results from hitting that memory limit and running out of memory.
As an example, I've set the render distance to the maximum, and the memory requirements climbs to over 9GB. If I wanted to render this distance regularly, I'd use 12-16 GB as the max. I usually leave it at ~24 chunks render distance, though, and this brings down the memory requirements by a lot (49*49*49 = 117,649 cubes).
We do know about this issue, and we haven't done any optimizations yet.
For now, I recommend reducing the render distance. This will reduce the number of cubes loaded, and correspondingly the memory requirements.
EDIT: Java 7 is required, but I recommend going straight to Java 8. The new Minecraft installer will provide a Java 8 JRE.
You got it to work? Mine did the same thing but nothing happens on the splash screen in minecraft, so I assumed nothing was installed.

I did some more testing, and found some other issues. I opened issues for most of them on GitHub, but there are a couple that I haven't yet (portals not working at y>255, and maps only showing loaded chunks, and all chat messages being printed twice).

Hmm... I'm actually going to wait until there's a more stable release before I dive into this mod.
Just wondering, should that go in the OP too? Think I've seen some mod dev release beta versions of mods but not put them in the OP because they didn't want everyone to go "Z0MG NEW VERSION" and install it and when it breaks go "Y U NO WORK I'M NEVER USING UR MODS AGAIN".

I tried that (pretty much exactly) last night but it didn't work. I'll try a couple more times when I get home.
EDIT: Ok now I deleted the 1.8.3.jar and re-installed it, deleted the m3l beta 0.2 (installer and .jar) and reinstalled it. When I tried the installer again, instead of saying install, it said "Install 1.8.3-0.2b" right away. Is that an issue? BTW, It didn't work again, same issue as last time, instant crash and no crash report. If I get desperate, I might upload a video of my problem.
