Over the past year... I really didn't make any progress at all. I took the hardest part and started trying to tackle it first. And now I realize why that was the wrong approach. So I have ported all the code to 1.7.10 to get with the times, and have a more concrete roadmap of things I want to accomplish, which you can see at the bottom of this post under "Currently Planned Features" Whats more, is that if you really want to, you can play with what I have right now.
*0.1.10 Update Preview Changelog: Introduced broken drill mechanic: When your Spiral Drill eventually breaks, it leaves behind a broken drill item to be used to fix it, or maybe turn back into Spiral Power. Yoko's rifle is now fully implemented. Includes multiple fire modes with texture and sound differences between them. The fire modes switch between multiple types of ammo: Custom Bullets, Raw Spiral Energy Droplets, and Arrows. A few placeholders for Ammo crafting have been added in so far, and will be expanded before the update is uploaded here. The Wikia is being updated as new things are introduced so you can probably catch more things there before they're listed here. ;p
A placeholder furnace is now implemented that burns physical spiral power and is unable to do vanilla recipes, only custom ones. For now it looks exactly like the vanilla furnace. I want to eventually change the way it works to handle non physical spiral power like machines, and to give it a unique look... I'm playing with Techne to do that.
Behind the scenes running has been smoothed out a bit. Minor tweaks and bugfixes as well as a new message system is now implemented. Mod now prints to the FML INFO/Log with the channel SPPWR instead of the old System.out.println() system which was pretty ugly. Also prints out it's loading status to the console.
*0.1.9.2 current update: Should be completely multiplayer compatible, and both in and out of Singleplayer everything should be persistent (spiral power staying when you exit, only being able to find one core drill legitimately etc) Spiral power GUI bar doesn't go away when in creative mode. I'll be working on that, and on Yoko's rifle next.
I am also going to be putting together a Wikia Pagebut that is going pretty slow too. I've never as much as edited a wiki at all, much less made one. A few people are helping, including my friend Brumock and DarkcloudFleethoof from this thread! Eventually it will house the recipes.. etc but for now we're going to just be making basic pages on the items/blocks I have already.
As per before, the textures may or may not be final, if you're interested in helping me with textures, it's the one thing I can't do at all. :3

Hello everyone!
Two things have led to this: One: being a programming student in uni, after taking a Java class this semester I thought making a mod for a game I play wayy too much of would be fun, and Two: After searching and seeing the post by Schilcote and how he simply disappeared off the face of the thread after posting about it two years ago.. And the fact that Gurren Lagann is my favorite anime... I thought what better first mod than something you're passionate about... amirite?
So here I am with my Spiral Power Mod project!
I come forth with a similar idea/concept but with actual progress before even posting!
Current textures ever so courteously provided by DanielPotter11 from his Gurren Lagann texture pack which can be found here: http://www.planetmin...en-lagann-pack/
Which is a good thing because otherwise it'd be a bunch of pink and black squares.. I am MISERABLY BAD at texturing.
If anyone wants to help with remaining textures or to provide different ones for the ones I currently have, feel free, they'll be welcomed.

Currently planned features:
Short term goals:
Furnace powered by Spiral Power
Short term (Stuck) goals:
Yoko outfit as armor (I don't have a texture to use... but adding in the armor itself could be done in a minute or two)
Medium term goals (original mod's intended functionality):
Core Drill locked chests in dungeons
Spiral Power Generator powered by Core Drill
Conversion to EU/MF/RF.. probably using Universal Electricty's API? If I can find it?
Long Term:
Consumable Spiral Power?
LONG LONG term:
Beastmen
pilot-able gunmen
combine-able gunmen
Enemy gunmen spawns during the day
Enemy gunmen to be stealable
Gunmen upgrades craftable
Suggested Features:
Perceptual Teleportation (How the Gunmen moved through space without taking infinite years.)
Spiral Power to Weaponry conversion machine block
I will update this post as I get more features implemented!
If anyone has any more suggestions, I'll consider them!
Hi! I really want a good Gurren Lagann mod for Minecraft, and you are starting to please me. I have one question to ask you too When Gunmen are added in, will they each have there own attacks E.G Giga Drill Break for Gurren Lagann?

Well if you read the original maker (The on they said Left the mod) Its only for power to go to stuff like buildcraft ic2 and stuff and gunmen are sadly not coming
It's been over a year with no updates and I'm sad to say, still none yet. But as to the status of progress: Short answer: yes and no.
Long answer:
Yes, I am still working on it but... It's complicated. Making random items, armors, and crafting recipes.. Pretty much all of the stuff at the top of the "planned features" list... are all fairly easy. Unfortunately the idea of Gunmen as a thing, at least in the capacity that I see them in my head, are pretty difficult. I'm still very much new to Java (even after three years of classes) and even after all this time still haven't really made any progress. I could, and now that I think about it, probably will stop working on THEM and get more features together and just get something out there that people can play with. I'm sure there's loads of documentation on IndustrialCraft and BuildCraft.. So I'll look into getting the features from the original mod post implemented at first and go from there..
If anyone is interested, when I think of the way the Gunmen would work in my mod I think of Flan's Mech Pack...
tl;dr I spent a year failing to find a way to implement Gunmen and I'm refocusing my attention as of this post.
As of the few hours following this post, I went back and updated all of the code from 1.7.2 to 1.7.10 (It seems most of the mod packs and a lot of new mods are still in 1.7.10 is why I chose to stay there)
Also played with ore generation... Not sure sure if I should keep "Solid Spiral Power" but right now it's all used in the crafting recipes until I figure something else out.
Screenshot of "Updates":
Edit: the screenshot is a little small... not sure how I made a bigger picture in a spoiler in the original post.. it didn't work this time... so... Check the attachment I guess?
Thanks for the reply! I was wondering because I had a few ideas that would probably be easier to implement than that, and as I have tried several times to learn java myself, I figured I'd pass them onto you, instead of letting them just sit and fester. Perceptual teleportation, perhaps using a multiblock structure, rather than a full blown gunman, and a device or item that allows the conversion of spiral energy (possibly using that bar you wanted to add?) into items/weapons.
Perceptual teleportation, perhaps using a multiblock structure
What do you have in mind? Something like... a Nether portal that just skips the Nether and comes out at another portal.. or..?
It can't be anything one sided... there would have to be some way of determining where you come out.. Sort of maybe like PnumaticCraft's drones have a GPS thing that you click on the block to go to?
device or item that allows the conversion of spiral energy (possibly using that bar you wanted to add?) into items/weapons.
What do you have in mind for this? Something that would turn the "energy" into a physical crafting material (like the spiral energy placeholders I have right now?) Or like... Something you provide a pattern too and it siphons off your energy and makes it from.. well essentially nothing?
For the teleportation, it'd probably have to be something you saved at some point, maybe an easily craftable marker, or something, that you can bind to a place, and then it saves to a list of coordinates you can jump to? Because the way it worked in the show was "This place, take me there" And that's probably as close as it'll get to that, unless you can think of a better way(which you probably can, I'm pretty tired as of writing this).
The manifestation machine/item could do that; I was thinking you could have an imprint of an item, and use it to 'duplicate' the item, using spiral energy, sort of akin to Equivalent Exchange, but you could maybe find relics, or shards of weapons, or something, in loot tables, and imprinting them could allow you to create stronger weapons then what you can craft. Or even just that second part, the weapons, would be really cool.
So.. I actually went back and watched that episode again.. And the way it worked was Simon like... thought really hard about Nia's ring which allowed them to "teleport" to it... So I mean I guess... a glorified /home item would work.. You craft a block of some sort and when placed it saves it's coordinates and you can jump to it. That seems a bit like the teleporters from Industrialcraft.. But not requiring one to walk into.. and running off Spiral Power... I could see that. Would be pretty cool.
So the manifestation machine would drain (probably large amounts) of spiral energy... to duplicate items you already have... but could complete ancient technologies if you find a shard of them? That sounds pretty cool too. It also answers my question of how to get another core drill if you lose the first one. You could like... find a drill shard in a dungeon and use that machine to rebuild it? Could also let ou craft upgrades to gunmen wayyy down the line if I ever get that working. That... sounds both difficult and not difficult at the same time. I like it.
The other way I could think of was an item that you could have, that saves coordinates to a list somewhere, maybe stored in the player's data rather than the item's, and the teleporting would work using those? Although... It might be more difficult, but maybe both of those together, so if necessary, someone else could make the block so you could teleport to them?
Ooooh, I hadn't even thought about replacing lost drills. That's a really cool idea. Probably also a way to imprint the drill itself, if someone has the forethought to do so?
Hmm. Might work but I was thinking more of.. if it worked by teleporting to the item's location... shouldn't the item have to stay wherever you're going to be teleporting to?
Yeah taking good care of the core drill is important. I infact just now got the spawning for it working correctly. You have a 1 in 1000 chance chance of finding it while digging stone. Which to be honest is kinda high. While testing this I'm generally able to find one within 2 minutes. Of course the random number generator isn't TRULY random so it's sorta effectively smaller but... ehh whatever. I may bump it up a bit. Next I'm going to be working on disabling that spawn chance completely once you've already found one.
Yeah, but it's not necessarily just things that they could teleport to, it was also people, or even a place if they thought hard enough about it? Hmm. That's probably going to be more difficult to implement in some semblance of balance, though.
Edit: I just realized what you meant. I meant two separate items, one that stays in your inventory, and one that is crafted and placed in world.
Would disabling any spawns after the first be as simple as a variable switch? Probably similar to the way achievements work? Like, get achievement once, but not ever after that?
Wow you guys and girls have great ideas glad to see this mod is still being worked on. Also hi Rohzek I'm the one who asked you over youtube message if you were still working on this mod. Glad to see you still are.
Oh, yeah hello. Even since the YouTube message I've made quite a bit of progress. When working on a smaller scale a lot more things can be done. BUT.. Ironic enough right? I found out today that the creator of Magitek Mechs, a mod FFVI inspired from 1.5.2 released his code to open source.. Sadly enough though it seems like it'd take more work to figure out how to port any of that code than it would be to keep working from scratch. 1.5.2 was just a different world lol. That's too bad though.
Is 0.1.7 done, and post just isn't updated, or is that currently in progress?
My apologies, I thought I was ready to upload 0.1.7 when I edited the OP... and then ran into a major problem while trying to keep it both singleplayer playable, and server compatible simultaneously. At first it crashed a server if you loaded it onto one, however while that's fixed the multiplayer side of it is still quite a bit bugged. Spiral power can be used (in the limited way it's implemented) but on a server the GUI wont refresh. I'm trying to figure out how packets work so I can send custom data like spiral power percentage from server to client. And on both: while only getting one core drill drop works at first... if you die then player stats is reset and you can get another core drill drop again. As core drill count, and spiral power is stored in the same player stats class, I'm working on packet sending before I figure out how to save/persist through death.
tl;dr: Anyway the link is now updated, sorry for the wait.
To play with the limited implementation of spiral power try jumping lol. Right now when you fall, you'll use spiral power to absorb the fall and not take damage. And spiral power can be gained back by "consuming" raw spiral droplets.
UPDATE: Taking it way more seriously this time.
Over the past year... I really didn't make any progress at all. I took the hardest part and started trying to tackle it first. And now I realize why that was the wrong approach.
