Well that wasn't 100% our idea. We got the idea from the "DayM" mod. However, we implemented that aspect into our mod months prior of "the crafting dead" mod. Also, most of our items have a unique model when dropped. For example, canned food, canteens, water bottles, guns, and boxed goods have their own models. "The crafting dead" mod won't be able to copy that since we have legal documents protecting those models. And items that use the DayM item render are bandages, morphine, ammo, and other common items like that.
We don't like comparing our mod to other dayz inspired mods because there hasn't been anything like our mod yet. We added a few things that haven't even been brought up on the forum yet because we want them to be a surprise when people play the mod. I'm not going to be specific, but lets just say one of those things we added sure beats walking

I posted a video on the forum a couple days ago showing backpacks and how they work Now I can confidently say The First Release Will Be Out Very Soon. The last things to add are gun recoil, gun magazine textures, and a few gui tweaks. After that the mod can be released

Can't Wait! Really Excited!!! When the first Version comes out I am wanting to make a map it probably wont be very big considering I'm not very good at it and it's just me making it.
And I've made a female Survivor skin it's not very well made but I thought it would be good for the girls who like minecraft and DayZ here it is:

And I was making a map for the server we were going to put up for the mod. So far I only have the Chernarus Landscape, the center of Chernogorsk, and the main city part of Elektro done. If you want to you are more then welcome to help with the map. Just pm me for the ip and texture pack Here is a little picture I rendered to show you a small part of Elektro. The map is nothing like the HunteR26RuS map, but it will be fine for if you want to hop on with your friends and slay zombies and other players.
And the skin looks pretty good man In the video you can see what the zombie skins and Player skin looks like from the mod.

I must say that this mod is better than DayM at some points : 3D dropped items,being still alive...
But also worse at some points : guns models a little bit too "cubic",I mean that it's not smooth models like in DayM
Do you plan on adding both (smooth and cubic models) and being able to switch from one to another like in DayM or will you stick to cubic shaped guns?

Our mod isn't based of any mc mods. The only mod and game our mod is based off of is The Day-Z Arma2 mod and The Day-Z Standalone game. I know what the DayM mod is and i've played it a while back. The idea of 3d dropped items, and item spawners, I got from them. But everything else that's in our mod we came up with.
And as for models, our head Modeler (Vini) has done an excellent job on the models We aren't big fans of the "realistic" gun models for minecraft. We feel like it breaks the game too much. But Vini's models are realistic but still have that minecraft feel to them.
And i've came across the source for DayM a few times. I never downloaded though because I don't want to use other peoples source for our mod. It will break the copy write for our mod. Also if we did take someone's source we wouldn't be able to call it "our" mod because it wouldn't be ours.

We are trying our best to push this mod out. Right now we aren't happy with the gun functionality. After we tweak the guns a bit, and receive a few more textures we've been waiting, for the mod should be ready for an alpha release
