I like the idea of using crystal clusters as a modifier but I think it should be something thaumy...... idk what exactly but not something that already exists

Hey, this looks amazing. I have a request. Not only should you add the ability to make mashed potatoes, we need a mashed potato liquid! Either potatoes in the smeltery or in the magma crucible, possibly both. I need to have a tank full of mashed potatoes, and you are the people who can make that happen.
would it be possible to check if Metallurgy 3.3.2 is feasible, and if so, make a use of Pylon?
I use Custom Recipe to make them available on my game and private server, but apart for aesthetic purpose, they lack utility.
I know they want Pylon to have a use in M4, but it's not for 1.6.4
I use 1 MetalBlock centered over 3 MetalIngot, 12 ingot total, to make my Pylon, they are nice locking, and a magical property would be awesome!

Wow you guys are hyped up for this mod.... Just by the way, in no way is this mod dead, just you know, figuring cleaver things to put on the research (Sorry but it looks like you cant just stuff your AE drives with Essencia Disks from the getgo) and making sure recipes are balanced (We dont want 1 Ore cluster to = 10k of an item) but we will see how soon we can get this mod out, we really hope you guys enjoy this once it comes out

How about a way of collecting or empowering tools functionality by being able to store Vis into the tool.
The more crystals used as a modifier the more Vis stored.

I also want to suggest the ability to create wands and staves and caps and combine them as you would normally create wands/staves in different combinations with different magic boosts..... for example whatever the handle is mad of would change how much Vis can be stored (Manyullyn storing the most vis) the top cap would effect the discount and the bottom could effect the attack damage on staves but idk what on wands :? and you could infuse modifiers instead of putting them on the normal way....
Some things I suggested in the TiC thread that just sort of got ingored/lost, feel free to use any of it (side note: the first part is talking about making the smeltery run on essentia rather than lava)
If I can be allowed to throw my two cents in here. I would suggest a Combination of Aspects, lots of stuff runs on one aspect or the other, very few run on two (I can only think of one off the top of my head, which is the Sprinkler from Advanced Thaumaturgy, it uses Aqua and Herba).
My suggestion is to make it run off of Ignus and Saxum (the two aspects that are found in Lava), both are extremely easy to procure, as both charcoal and stone/cobble are infinite resources (charcoal made from trees which you can grow and stone/cobble made by either a machine or the regular old stone maker made from lava, water, and pistons). In addition almost nothing uses Saxum but tons of stuff use Potentia and Ignus, so I would suggest that 1 point of Saxum and 1 point of Ignus be equal to the worth of a single bucket of Lava.
Lava has 3 Ignus and 3 Saxum as it's aspects, so this would actually make the essentia a better fuel source, however it's definitely harder to get than a single bucket of lava (due to the time of research and setup involved) so the reward should be just as substantial.
While I'm at this, there are some other things I'd like to see for cross mod interactions with Thaumcraft. Chief among them being Native Ore Clusters. Not just the ability to make native ore clusters of all the ores that Tinker's Construct uses, but also the ability to make a pick give a chance of creating native ore clusters, similar to the way the Pickaxe of the Core works (perhaps pick heads made with some sort of Thaumium Alloy?), and (if this already works in some form forgive my ignorance) the ability to put the Native Clusters into the smeltery and get out 2 ingots and some change worth (similar to the way the infernal furnace works.... perhaps an upgrade that requires the infernal furnace research be done and requires that the smeltery be running on Essentia rather than lava?)
Something else that might be interesting would be a "Wand Cap" mold and the ability to melt down Thaumium in the smeltery, perhaps Wand Caps made from Tinker's Construct materials, maybe even the ability to use Tool Rods as Wand Cores and Tough Tool Rods as Stave Cores. For instance a Cactus Tool Rod used as a core might make a wand that regenerates Perditio and Terra, while a Stone Tool Rod used as a core might make a wand that regenerates just Terra (at a very small amount because it's so basic), these could be unlocked after the second tier of wand crafting (i.e. the Obsidian Core, Blaze Core, Reed Core, etc) is researched.
Another thing that would be cool would be upgrades that allow you to use Vis instead of durability, much like you can use Flux or EUs if you have Thermal Expansion or IC2 installed as well. Perhaps an Infused Thaumium Wand Cap and a Crystal cluster? You always have enough nuggets of thaumium left over for a whole new cap but you almost never use them (unless you somehow manage to lose your wand which does happen once in a while). The type of Vis it runs off of can be determined by the crystal cluster used, and perhaps the mixed cluster lets you use all types but it holds less than a pure cluster.
anyway, just some thoughts i've been bouncing around, feel free to use them, or don't. Keep up the good work, I love this mod.
This mod looks good enough to be in an alpha just the way it is! (totally not saying that so i can get my paws on it XD ) Could you do a 1.6 release before going and working on 1.7?

One idea that I had a while back was to have some sort of wand-add on for a tool. That is, put, say, two wand caps and some type of stage on, say, a pick axe, and you can now store vis/put wand foci on your tool (using vis for the foci, not durability). i.e., let's say I put the rod of nine hells onto my pick axe. Now, if I'm down a cave, I can mine AND shoot demonic bats at everything in sight. The other, better idea I had upon these lines was a spell stave (from ars magical 2) add on for tools. You know, put, say a mana focus onto my shovel and I can place blink on it. Now I can teleport into walls and kill myself AND dig dirt randomly. This would consume mana, not durability. One other thing on ars magics would be a soul bound add on for tools, so we don't have to try to get books for it. Sorry if that was kind of off topic, but the first half is useful. Please tell me what you think.
I feel as though Thaumcraft 4's essence and vis was specifically designed so that it wouldn't make sense to just use as a fuel, as each version from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 I remember a remark along the lines of "the mod was just functioning along the same lines as all the other tech mods." This makes me generally opposed to anything along the lines of simply "using vis as [durability]" like they are batteries. However, I very much like the idea of the simple multitool created by fusing wand and tool that type-1 ninja suggested, though such an experiment would end up needing the inclusion of some of the varied modded wands (at least the options from thaumic tinkerer and Kami) to stay competetive. There were many times when I would carry around 5 wands on me just to fill them all up, it would be run much smoother with just storing vis for wands in all the tools I carry anyway. The problem with this comes with tool damage, if you break the pick you kind of ruin the wandyness. Further, it might annoy people with a general distaste for multitools, though wand fusion makes a tool more of a swiss army knife then a paxel so it gets my seal of approval in that regard, despite the fact that I hate paxels.
