Ah, right then. I'd seen from posts regarding 1.6.4 and gradle and had assumed it was a thing, but that's actually kind of a relief. Looking forward to the guide.
Ok, made some changes, hopefully made the logs easier to read. Setup guide is done. Linky
Ok, made some changes, and rocked your face smooth off your head. Linky
That's just swell my friend. May your cup never run empty, troubles be few, and vehicle always squeeze a few more miles per gallon.
~~~
I have finally stomped all bugs in the High Oven I know about, save for the two minor visual glitches with the liquid tank and temperature gauge - but those aren't really all that important (and often not noticeable). Still, I'll address them at some point, but for now the High Oven is (hopefully) just as reliable as any vanilla feature. On the code-side it could stand a little cleanup and optimizing, and definitely some real documentation, but yeah. All green. Also, fluids can be pumped in through the drains. Surprisingly, I don't think anyone noticed it didn't work. I'm not sure why you would want to, but there's that.
All that's left if the TE3 material support I mentioned. I'll finish that up in the morning. But for tonight I believe I'll relax a bit. I haven't seen anything but Minecraft for the past 3 months. So I'll celebrate with my victory brew...
and maybe play a little Skyim or check out a flick or two.
I know I've been a bit ridiculous with the prereleases, but I had to ensure that everyone knew some things would change drastically, and potential bugs could arise when updating. That's not to say more major changes aren't coming, but the framework is reliable enough that there's no worry of potential world-breaking when updating. With that said, the next update will require all existing high oven controllers be broken/replaced due to some logic, nbt, and name changes. Well, you could leave them be, but they'll eventually die on their own anyway.
*Vibrates to such an excited state that he converts to plasma* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!~
Yay!
Now to immediately download and begin der buggen hunten. </fakegerman>
EDIT: 30 seconds in and I've found a typo. It's "Foreword" not "Forward".
EDIT 2: Electric Boogaloo: I've tested it pretty thoroughly and I, as a well-reputed finder of bugs, can't find any that aren't already known. Nice touch with the Pig Iron recipe though. ;3
EDIT 3: KTN server has been updated, if ya wanna check it out. :3
Hey, i'm having a big problem with the mod, i finally set up my high oven and as soon as the iron smelted into steel, the game crashed and the report said the problem was the ticking for the oven. the launcher and game menu work fine, but whenever i try to get into the world i made the steel in, it crashes again. is there a step to installation i missed? if you need a list of the mods i downloaded, i have:
forge
optifine
bibliocraft
archemedies ship mod
rei's mini map
not enough items (with the code chicken core)
tombstone deathchest
mystcraft
and of course, tinker's construct and tinkers steelworks
I was trying to save my hundredth post for something extra special, but crashes are more important!
I've got work soon, so this will be brief.
Also, I've now got a torn tendon in my rotator cup. It. Is. Agony. All day.
@DaKingCartoon: Very strange. I haven't encountered a single crash yet. Are you using the latest release? And what version of TCon are you using? Actually, could you post the crash log?
While Optifine isn't supported by TConstruct, I don't think it causes any crashes, but I may be wrong. Though, it could be a render conflict.
@ruyan: Freakin' sweet.
I'm thinking I should probably just use a normal book for the manual recipe.
Anyway, here's a teaser for what I was holding out...
Sucks about the tendon bro. :< *Offers highly homoerotic massage*
I'm liking the icons. Very nice.
And woot for automation! <3
Edit: AHA! I've found a tiny-little bug: When you decraft the storage blocks for sugar and gunpowder, they get a damage value of 1, which makes them useless for most crafting. Copy the code from the charcoal blocks directly?
Oh, I see the problem! (doing a little experimenting?) Sorry 'bout that. I'll have a fix up tonight.
Totally my bad.
....Yus.
I'll fix that too, along with the typo you mentioned. When it's ready, to reclaim useful gunpowder/sugar, recraft them into blocks and decraft again. It will also have the ducts, but only available through creative; they're not fully ready yet, but if you're curious and want to throw caution to the wind...
Jeez, and to think I called it stable. Well, at least it's in the W.I.P. mods forum.
Good news, everyone!
I reinstated National Hotdog Day!
Mod updated (and re-stabilized, tyvm), OP updated (ruyan, the man of legendary banners, this beer is for you! *pop*)
Links and changelog in the OP.
EDIT: Also, special thanks to DaKingCartoon, because in fixing the bug he(?) found, I streamlined a small chunk of messy code. It should be ever so slightly smoother when figuring out what to do when items melt.
If I didn't have to go to work I'd so be updating. ._.
Incidentally Toops, I may have completely wrecked the map you build that slick house on... Nuclear reactors should not be left unattended.
Unrelatedly, I had another neat feature idea - more as a test of your coding prowess and ability to cannibalize code:
Scorched Brick Golems. Like snow golems, but sturdier and actually damaging, on account of them throwing BRICKS. Same idea as the snow golem, really - but much less picky about where it can survive and none of the irritating snow trails to clean up. An almost-ideal nether companion, or just a great sentry to keep them undeads outta your base. Fireproof, durable and just a little bit cute.
Kind of as a ranged companion to the oh-so-awesome Steel Golem idea. :>
And also, know what would be a fun recipe using 8/9ths of a steel ingot and a piece of TNT? AP Shrapnel Explosives.
No block damage, really short fuse, and perfect for landmines. Perfect for keeping those troublesome neighbors locked in your experimental test facility out of your experimental test facility.
And lastly: Are you aware of a peculiar reaction between glowstone dust, quartz, blaze powder and copper in a high-heat enviroment? In what top scientists are calling "a miracle", using those materials as an oxidizer, reducer, purifier and smelting mass respectively yields a light-weight material with a curious self-inductance property that renders it a constant 900 degrees - incidentally hot enough to instantly ignite the cloth armor of the shambling deal, but not quite hot enough to smelt ores. This material, dubbed "Inductance Alloy" is being used world-wide in medical, scientific and military applications... Mostly military in the form of red-hot swords, but still!
Due to the materials used, the natural softness of the required copper and the children's souls mystery ingredient imbued in the mix, this blend is a tad weak, faring poorly in durability, hardness and "not-breaky-ness". That said however, the ability to inflict incredibly long duration fires on targets does make this an attractive choice to the guerrilla warfare-types and back-pedaling enthusiasts!
(Basically: A copper alloy made in the high oven with an inherit Fiery III trait. :>)
I'm glad that i could help! i haven't had a chance to try the new version out yet, but first thing tomorrow, this is going straight in the folder. i'm excited for the other features you've written in your google document, such as the new dimension, the dwarves (so that simon from yogscast can reunite with his bretheren,) and the ominous and epic sounding boss mob tinker's construct, which i believe will add quality lore to the tinker universe let alone the minecraft universe. the steel golems sound super scary to me, but i'm always up for a challenge. keep up the good works sir (oh, and yeah, i'm a dude :T)
P.S. Just my two cents here, and this may seem a bit overpowered, but what about a hand crank drill for a tool/weapon? a tool that could dig both stones and turfs in a 3x3 area. granted i'm drawing some inspiration for this from the anime Gurren Lagann, i don't know if you've seen it, but i think it goes without saying that in terms of a weapon, this should be SUPER nerfed from the source material. (although that does spark inspiration for an unrelated mod...) anyways, thanks for listening
P.S.S./Edit: i also have a suggestion for a new alloy that might interest you, based off the irl alloy nordic gold found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_gold the zinc part could be ignored, (or maybe inspire something?) but i was thinking that, if you don't have the means already, this could be used as the portal frame to the undar* dimension your gdoc described. you could even rename it dwarven gold if you'd like, just another 2 cents totaling to 4. all this talk about pennies makes me crave some penny candy (they still sell those, right?)
Ducts are about 50% done now. Item transfers to the High Oven controller by slot type work, and it sucks in items facing the duct's face. Haven't gotten to output yet (such as thermal expansion slag, and a recipe to create quartz among other things...). There's numerous bugs to work out of course, and an extensive amount of bugtesting to be done. It's looking great so far though.
Incidentally Toops, I may have completely wrecked the map you build that slick house on... Nuclear reactors should not be left unattended.
Next time, I'll be sure to build it into a bunker. >_>
-snip- -snip- I had another neat feature idea -snip- Scorched Brick Golems -snip- -snip- -snip-
*puts away sheers*
I like it! I've been sooo ready to break away from the High Oven just for a little bit. Well, at least, after I finish the ducts. After a little investigating, it doesn't look like it'll be much trouble to integrate throwable items into the current materials item (scorched bricks) so when I get around to adding the High Golem ( ) the same update will also make scorched bricks throwable by the player as well. Might as well make a collision check against glass while I'm at it. I'm thinking very low damage - probably half a heart. That's still 8x better than a snow golem in terms of damage output (just a guess, unsure of the actual number, but it sounds right), but not high enough for great justice.
And also, know what would be a fun recipe using 8/9ths of a steel ingot and a piece of TNT? AP Shrapnel Explosives. -snip-
Ha, and just when I was thinking about gunpowder kegs...
Let's make it use gunpowder blocks and we're golden. I've been eagerly awaiting playing with particle effects. Incidentally, when it comes to ~the way of the code~ GUIs, effects, and AI have always been my specialties. Chomping at the bit? Yes.
Are you aware of a peculiar reaction between glowstone dust, quartz, blaze powder and copper in a high-heat enviroment? In what top scientists are calling "a miracle", -snip- (Basically: A copper alloy made in the high oven with an inherit Fiery III trait. :>)
I lol'd hard at that descriptor. Even so, while it's a brilliant idea no doubt, I do plan on adding a touch of Twilight Forest support (the 4th leg of my personal mod stable - TCon (tools, misc), TE3 (tech), Thaumcraft (magic), Twilight Forest (adventure)). I might add this in anyway at some point, but I would add a check to see if TF is loaded, and if so the induction alloy would be disabled in favor of TF's fiery plaything.
i'm excited for the other features you've written in your google document, such as the new dimension, the dwarves (so that simon from yogscast can reunite with his bretheren,) and the ominous and epic sounding boss mob tinker's construct, which i believe will add quality lore to the tinker universe let alone the minecraft universe.
I'm excited to work on those things! I will note that I have revised the doc a bit, a while ago. Mainly, I've decided to drop the idea of adding another dimension and instead add the dwarven content to the overworld - well, deep, deep underground of course. This is mainly because, knowing me, I would get stuck for months on trying to perfect the terrain generation alone, then when you consider it's an entire dimension to fill...
But yeah, I have a love for lore in games.
P.S. Just my two cents here, and this may seem a bit overpowered, but what about a hand crank drill for a tool/weapon? a tool that could dig both stones and turfs in a 3x3 area.
Unfortunately while I can certainly appreciate a fine drill, this would invalidate hammers' and excavators' utility, which would go against the TConstruct philosophy,
P.S.S./Edit: i also have a suggestion for a new alloy that might interest you, based off the irl alloy nordic gold -snip-
Noted, and a bit ahead of you: when I revised the doc, I made mention that midian/impervium/whatevergoldupgradium would be utilized to make an item which would help locate the dwarven villages, much like Eye of Ender is to strongholds.
Ok, made some changes, hopefully made the logs easier to read. Setup guide is done. Linky
That's just swell my friend. May your cup never run empty, troubles be few, and vehicle always squeeze a few more miles per gallon.
I have finally stomped all bugs in the High Oven I know about, save for the two minor visual glitches with the liquid tank and temperature gauge - but those aren't really all that important (and often not noticeable). Still, I'll address them at some point, but for now the High Oven is (hopefully) just as reliable as any vanilla feature. On the code-side it could stand a little cleanup and optimizing, and definitely some real documentation, but yeah. All green. Also, fluids can be pumped in through the drains. Surprisingly, I don't think anyone noticed it didn't work. I'm not sure why you would want to, but there's that.
All that's left if the TE3 material support I mentioned. I'll finish that up in the morning. But for tonight I believe I'll relax a bit. I haven't seen anything but Minecraft for the past 3 months. So I'll celebrate with my victory brew...
and maybe play a little Skyim or check out a flick or two.
Cheers, mate.
Finished up that thing I mentioned.
I'll run some more thorough tests in the morning and if all is go: 0.0.1 stable.
i was able to get into the world again, but the high oven tank only had molten iron, and the iron slot was missing 1 block. as soon as another one smelted, the game crashed again.
Oh, I see the problem! (doing a little experimenting?) Sorry 'bout that. I'll have a fix up tonight.
Totally my bad.
....Yus.
I'll fix that too, along with the typo you mentioned. When it's ready, to reclaim useful gunpowder/sugar, recraft them into blocks and decraft again. It will also have the ducts, but only available through creative; they're not fully ready yet, but if you're curious and want to throw caution to the wind...
Jeez, and to think I called it stable. Well, at least it's in the W.I.P. mods forum.
I reinstated National Hotdog Day!
Mod updated (and re-stabilized, tyvm), OP updated (ruyan, the man of legendary banners, this beer is for you! *pop*)
Links and changelog in the OP.
EDIT: Also, special thanks to DaKingCartoon, because in fixing the bug he(?) found, I streamlined a small chunk of messy code. It should be ever so slightly smoother when figuring out what to do when items melt.
Incidentally Toops, I may have completely wrecked the map you build that slick house on... Nuclear reactors should not be left unattended.
Unrelatedly, I had another neat feature idea - more as a test of your coding prowess and ability to cannibalize code:
Scorched Brick Golems. Like snow golems, but sturdier and actually damaging, on account of them throwing BRICKS. Same idea as the snow golem, really - but much less picky about where it can survive and none of the irritating snow trails to clean up. An almost-ideal nether companion, or just a great sentry to keep them undeads outta your base. Fireproof, durable and just a little bit cute.
Kind of as a ranged companion to the oh-so-awesome Steel Golem idea. :>
And also, know what would be a fun recipe using 8/9ths of a steel ingot and a piece of TNT? AP Shrapnel Explosives.
No block damage, really short fuse, and perfect for landmines. Perfect for keeping those troublesome neighbors
locked in your experimental test facilityout of your experimental test facility.And lastly: Are you aware of a peculiar reaction between glowstone dust, quartz, blaze powder and copper in a high-heat enviroment? In what top scientists are calling "a miracle", using those materials as an oxidizer, reducer, purifier and smelting mass respectively yields a light-weight material with a curious self-inductance property that renders it a constant 900 degrees - incidentally hot enough to instantly ignite the cloth armor of the shambling deal, but not quite hot enough to smelt ores. This material, dubbed "Inductance Alloy" is being used world-wide in medical, scientific and military applications... Mostly military in the form of red-hot swords, but still!
Due to the materials used, the natural softness of the required copper and the
children's soulsmystery ingredient imbued in the mix, this blend is a tad weak, faring poorly in durability, hardness and "not-breaky-ness". That said however, the ability to inflict incredibly long duration fires on targets does make this an attractive choice to the guerrilla warfare-types and back-pedaling enthusiasts!(Basically: A copper alloy made in the high oven with an inherit Fiery III trait. :>)
P.S. Just my two cents here, and this may seem a bit overpowered, but what about a hand crank drill for a tool/weapon? a tool that could dig both stones and turfs in a 3x3 area. granted i'm drawing some inspiration for this from the anime Gurren Lagann, i don't know if you've seen it, but i think it goes without saying that in terms of a weapon, this should be SUPER nerfed from the source material. (although that does spark inspiration for an unrelated mod...) anyways, thanks for listening
P.S.S./Edit: i also have a suggestion for a new alloy that might interest you, based off the irl alloy nordic gold found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_gold the zinc part could be ignored, (or maybe inspire something?) but i was thinking that, if you don't have the means already, this could be used as the portal frame to the undar* dimension your gdoc described. you could even rename it dwarven gold if you'd like, just another 2 cents totaling to 4. all this talk about pennies makes me crave some penny candy (they still sell those, right?)
Next time, I'll be sure to build it into a bunker. >_>
*puts away sheers*
I like it! I've been sooo ready to break away from the High Oven just for a little bit. Well, at least, after I finish the ducts. After a little investigating, it doesn't look like it'll be much trouble to integrate throwable items into the current materials item (scorched bricks) so when I get around to adding the High Golem ( ) the same update will also make scorched bricks throwable by the player as well. Might as well make a collision check against glass while I'm at it. I'm thinking very low damage - probably half a heart. That's still 8x better than a snow golem in terms of damage output (just a guess, unsure of the actual number, but it sounds right), but not high enough for great justice.
Ha, and just when I was thinking about gunpowder kegs...
Let's make it use gunpowder blocks and we're golden. I've been eagerly awaiting playing with particle effects. Incidentally, when it comes to ~the way of the code~ GUIs, effects, and AI have always been my specialties. Chomping at the bit? Yes.
I lol'd hard at that descriptor. Even so, while it's a brilliant idea no doubt, I do plan on adding a touch of Twilight Forest support (the 4th leg of my personal mod stable - TCon (tools, misc), TE3 (tech), Thaumcraft (magic), Twilight Forest (adventure)). I might add this in anyway at some point, but I would add a check to see if TF is loaded, and if so the induction alloy would be disabled in favor of TF's fiery plaything.
I'm excited to work on those things! I will note that I have revised the doc a bit, a while ago. Mainly, I've decided to drop the idea of adding another dimension and instead add the dwarven content to the overworld - well, deep, deep underground of course. This is mainly because, knowing me, I would get stuck for months on trying to perfect the terrain generation alone, then when you consider it's an entire dimension to fill...
But yeah, I have a love for lore in games.
Unfortunately while I can certainly appreciate a fine drill, this would invalidate hammers' and excavators' utility, which would go against the TConstruct philosophy,
Noted, and a bit ahead of you: when I revised the doc, I made mention that midian/impervium/whatevergoldupgradium would be utilized to make an item which would help locate the dwarven villages, much like Eye of Ender is to strongholds.
