It's good man! But the textures are very... unpleasing, you know, it looks weird dropped and such, but the mod is good, keep the good work, just improve textures xD
Well said, I was about to post all of that, kudos!
I am loving this mod and using it to make farming at the beginning a must, it was rather refreshing because it seemed to balance vanilla minecraft out as if it were overpowered before. I don't believe this is out of the question, but with the spawn rates of default vanilla and the abundance of animals (sans sheep...those b#s*&rds!) I felt that farming vegetables was just for farming animals.
I have a few more ideas for you SwSwitch...
Add another butcherable animal...and not a sheep...a zombie! yes, freeze and cook a ?dead? zombie! *ahem* On the same topic of zombies, you could make them attracted to the dead animals so a player could use/defend their meat...maybe a use for rotten pig/cow/chicken...
Fat could be a drop from butchering the animal with the cleaver. Using fat, one could melt the fat in a furnace (trying to figure out how to incorporate a bucket to make a bucket of fat). The liquid fat could be used as a decor item, but the main purpose would be for candles. Next, one takes multiple glass bottles with a bucket of fat (should make 3-6 bottle jars of fat) to make bottles of fat. Combine string with a bottle of fat and you get a Prepared Candle. The Prepared Candle must then be placed in the Ice chest to harden into a candle. Candles could be used int lieu of jack o' lanterns and/or provide and AoE benefit(might be OP). Could also use the fat for other things such as: biofuels, soaps(could reduce the time of negative status effects for 5 minutes or something), or as a machine lubricant.
Would also be nice if they would all drop at least one bone upon butchering just for more real and a little helper to make it all even more worthwhile.
Version 0.5.0 is out and you can now kill zombies and hang them on meat hooks. Thanks everyone for the ideas, and modpack permissions are now in the terms and conditions. @Lieutenant this update should fix your problem, if it doesn't delete your config file and try again.
Is it possible to turn off meat from getting rotten?
I love the added things with not getting your meat right away, but would like to turn off the rotting.
Players on my server love to be more challenged but not to much. ^^
Was a bit gruesome at first glance, but now the functionality it adds to the game is neat. Any chance that you could add functionality for MrCrayFish's Furniture mod fridge as an "ice chest" or integrate items from other food mods, such as Pam's HarvestCraft (knife)?
Leather is literally just animal skin that's been tanned-ANY animal's skin! So the pig should also drop leather when skinned. That, or you could have it drop a new "pig skin" item that can be cooked into pork rinds and/or crafted into gelatin (which would, naturally, have crafting purposes of its own). I also agree it'd be pretty cool, and realistic, for them to drop bones when harvested. Oh! And you could make it so that if a skinned pig is left hanging over fire/lava for smoking-based preservation long enough, it becomes a smoked pig that, when harvested, produces bacon!
Love the mod, adds a nice piece of realism and atmosphere to my good 'ole ranch. Do you plan on adding more ways to process meat? You know, like making every animal butcher into individual pieces? How about making the leftover meat into dogfood?
Or, if you want to further balance ranching, try adding hunger requirements to mobs. If they don't get fed, they die and aren't worth much meat when butchered.
SwSwitch, as somebody said earlier, can you make support for older versions? Specifically, 1.6.2 becuase want to incoporate with a thanksgiving feast with the villagers with other mods!
BTW, I think is the coolest mod I ever seen. EVAR.
Thank you for completing my request for this mod. I am so happy, and will immediately download this and test it out. I love how it looks from when I watched DanTDM's showcase. You made me so happy. Is it ok if I work with you on this? I'll be done with the current college semester next week, so I'll be much more active.
Edit: Btw, feature suggestion: Maybe hanging zombies on meat hooks sort of repels zombies from your house? I think that would be pretty cool, like zombies still have a fear factor in their brain, regardless of them being undead and rotten.

The suggestion is cool.Sorta like the walking dead when you cover yourself with zombie parts they can't smell you.
Would it be also possible to add config option to set % chance for zombie corpse drops? Right now the chance is 100% and it drops from every zombie which gets very tedious since it clogs up inventory constantly. So it would be great if it would be possible to set for example 20% chance of drop so it will drop only from every approx. 5th zombie kill.
I second this.Or add an option in the config to turn off zombie drops.
no sig yay
