It would be really awesome if there were dragon riders that spawned around the world, although it might be difficult to do. It would also be cool if there were hostile mobs such as Ra'zac. I don't know if these have already been suggested. If they were, I'm sorry.
Either this update or the next update we were planning on adding in races and occupations(<-this one I don't honestly know) into the mod either this upcoming update or next update. All I know is that those races will come soon (maybe not dragon riders quite yet, maybe).
But don't be sorry. In the future, as we wind down on game-changing updates and more on the bug fix-y stuff, we may forget about a certain aspect then someone says "Hey! What about such and such?" and then we remember to add it in in the next update.
A few little things..
1. I'm not in any way talented in coding (I know nothing, but am planning on taking a class at some point during my High School career), but is there any way I could join the team to help think of new/cool ideas?
2. Is there an ETA on the next update?
3. Are you continuing with the temple spawning for mobs? And will there be another forum? Basically just curious on future aspects on the mod and functionality, such as possibly an RP experience. Can't wait for future updates and anything the team has up their sleeves!

1. If you want to learn how to code early (as school only teaches you syntax and basics of a language for the year), go to thenewboston (either on youtube or his website; he has tutorials on C/C++/C#/Java [Basics and Game Design with Slick2D & LWJGL together)/HTML & CSS/JavaScript/AJAX and more). After that, if you want to learn how to mod Minecraft, XxxXEclipse7XxxX or Shaqaruden's YouTube. Wuppy29 is good if you can understand code and what it does; he isn't necessarily the best explainer so I'd only go to him if you understood a good bit of Minecraft.
2. ETA is end of this week or early next week; depending on how fast I can get the dragons and items done as world generation is finished for this update.
3. The forum part I'm not too sure about; that's up to Wiz. As for the RPG experience, I was talking with Wiz about it either being in Vanilla Minecraft, a Shur'tugal dimension or another mod entirely. I'm leaning towards a Shur'tugal dimension so people don't have to see ugly Testificates and their villages and I can replace them with better looking villagers and cities/towns/villages while Wiz is for keeping it in Vanilla Minecraft to keep it simple and clean; and from the other forum's public's opinion on a dimension. Again, to me, it just looks cleaner to have a separate dimension for RPG while, if you want to do a series, keep features in Vanilla. If I do make a dimension, I won't remove any of the mod's features from Vanilla.
We may make a separate mod anyway for the RPG side because, with the current setup, the code doesn't look too RPG friendly. Then again, we aren't that far into the mod.
As a little heads up to everyone, we plan on having two Alpha stages. Currently, we're in Alpha 1.0 which is the dragons, items, etc. Alpha 2.0 is planned to have magic and, if enough people really want the RPG aspect, the RPG-ness of the mod. Beta is one stage with bug fixes, adding in final items/spells/etc, updating textures and, definitely at this point, the introduction of the RPG aspect. Release will be primarily bug fixes and some new stuff being thrown out from the series that we may have missed but nothing massively game changing (unless what we forgot IS gaming changing :P). Again, this is just a rough draft/plan of what we want to do.
Sounds great! Not sure if you've thought too much about the magic aspect of the mod, but will there be certain words implemented by you all to be able to throw together as Eragon had done a few times?
Also, do you have skype? I'd like to actually type to you there instead of bouncing back slowly on the forum page XD

We have thought a lot about the magic aspect of the mod (as this is Code's area) but, seeing as he's going to Germany, I'll be taking over that sector until he returns (if he wants to keep coding that section of the mod). As for the magic's implementation/ability to be used, I'm not sure yet. Either it will be by typing (probably not as there are a ton of variables that people could spell it) or a hotkey and, in the chat, a text blurb appears making your character "saying" the spell rather than type it (this will probably be the way because I'm fairly lazy and I know people don't want to spend time trying to make the spell come out/spell properly in times of dire need (i.e. "Creeper Storms")).
And sure. I'll send you a PM with my Skype name. xP
I'm soooo glad you guys are reviving this mod. When I heard he quit I just had to substitute this mod with the dragon mounts mod. And will the dragon's breathe fire, that would be so sick
Hello! I apologize for the delay in response, I have been away for quite some time and not gotten a chance to reply. In regards to the update, we ran into some unforeseen problems with the new structures and dragons.
I would just like to post some ideas for the mod. I have no modding skills whatsoever but I have been watching this mod for a long time now and my mind is about to burst with ideas.
1. Seperate Shurtugal villagers/npcs: Look like players but you can talk to them using a menu when you right click on them, you can have relationships with them such as them being your mortal enemy or being your truest friend, depending if they like you they will help you in fights or come and rescue you, if they hate you they may attack you depending where you are (villages are safe zones think logically.), when angering or befriending dragons/dragon riders their rider/dragon will be angered or befriended as well, effects will be placed on you if a friend dies
2. Personality system: at the start of a new world you will be able to pick a personality for yourself as well as what npcs refer to you as, npcs have set personalities, you get to choose a personality for your dragon when you get the egg or have it based off yours, your personality affects how you talk to people, how much things affect you such as a friend dying, and how fast relationships rise and fall, when you die your relationships reset (toggle in settings)
3. Eras: at the start of the game or when you enter the dimension whichever you get to choose which era you spawn into. The eras effect what happens in the world and what exists yet. The eras that I mean are the fall of the riders, book 1, book 2, book 3, book 4, and after the books, some of the effects are how easily you can get ahold of a dragon egg, possibly scripted events that happen, and how many enemies you have and maybe in hardcore mode when you die you could load the same world except all belonging and structures that you built and pretty much all effect you had on the world will be gone/ruined in some way and you could see your own grave or old dragon but you will technically be a different person.
4. Alignment system: based off who you kill and who you talk to and maybe your personality can get you into the good or the bad side, aka the riders and galbatorix. This will effect how many enemies you have, what you can do, and what happens if you just come up to galbatorix and slap him.
5. True names: maybe there could be a system where you could discover your true name by doing certain actions or learn someone else's true name and you could make them do what you want them to do (both npcs and players) players would get a bunch of debuffs if they don't obey your commands
I am very sorry if any of these/ all of them are to hard to code... Thank you if you read this

I like to think that writers are gods of their own worlds and they are kind enough to let us see their creations.

It's no problem at all, I've just been eagerly awaiting release (thinking of doing a mod review) and was curious as to what was going on. Thank you! Is there a new ETA, or should we just wait?
As of right now we are getting a release prepped
I don't actually believe it is possible to fix that due to the complex nature of the mine and blade mod. Plus the rider swords are so OP using two would get rid of all the fun. In the future if we find time we will work on it but for now our top priority is to get the mod out and working.

When's the new release date?
Also, I have a few questions concerning future updates
1. How different are the shurtugal villagers from the vanilla ones?
2. Will there be multiple ways to get dragons?
3. Will the rider swords be less OP?
