Turn-Based Minecraft is a Forge mod where Players can enter turn-based combat with any living entity they choose to attack (or be ambushed by). Battles are dynamic in that already ongoing battles can have new combatants join right away by attacking someone in battle. Did I mention this works in multiplayer?
The code is completely free to use for whatever in the hopes that other people may integrate their own turn-based systems in their mods for a really cool rpg-like experience.
Currently I would like some community input on what direction this mod should go in since I don't think my own opinion alone is best for the mod.
You can request features and notify me of bugs through GitHub, or on this thread. (Though I will be checking GitHub more often)
If you would like to contribute to development (which I would appreciate since this is literally my first Minecraft Mod), you can fork the GitHub project, add your changes, and submit a pull request. If I find your contributions to be very helpful I may add you as a contributor of the project.
Of course, if you want to go in your own direction with this mod, feel free to fork the project and do your own thing.
This looks very interesting!
I suggest like in the second demonstration where you fell in the lava a "dodge" or "move" command. This way the combat can be much more dynamic and much more appealing to some younger audiences.
So far it looks amazing, very unique, never seen anything like this!
Is it working in 1.6/1.5?
The current version of the mod works with Minecraft 1.6.2 and the latest recommended Minecraft Forge.
You can get it and find more info on that through the GitHub wiki pages for this project.
Yes it's probably a good idea to find some way to get around hit-knockback in battle. An additional dodge command is probably a good idea, considering I haven't implemented the possibility of attacks missing yet, lol. But as for the actual getting hit and being knocked back, I'm not sure if I should try to stop the knockback from happening or let it be. Thanks for the input!
Development has slowed down quite a bit since things happened in life beyond my control, and by the time that stuff cleared up the Fall semester has started up for me.
So as for the mod, at the basic level it works.
(Features such as dynamic battles where in multiplayer one can join an ongoing battle, or randomized battle music and such are in.)
But as for new updates, I'll try to at least keep the mod available for the latest recommended forge version.
Just depends on how much free time I'll have and considering the courses I'm taking this semester, I won't have much.
Sorry, haven't even thought about the mod for a while because of classes.
You will probably be able to see updates in the winter and summer until I graduate.
I want to push the next update for 1.7.2, but in Forge, they've changed the networking code a lot. I'll have to rewrite a good deal of the networking stuff I've done in this mod since it relies heavily on it. If I don't get this done by February, that means classes have started up for me again and I won't have the time for months to work on this. Here's to hoping I get an update out for 1.7.2 in time.
I dont know how to compile it, can someone do it for me or help me
If you just want to try out the mod, there's a already compiled version of it available in the downloads page in the wiki in the github page for the mod.
Be sure you got the right version of forge that runs it, or it may not work.
You can find specific versions of minecraft forge here
As for the status of the mod, almost all previous functionality is working, except the music part of it since I ran out of time (as classes started up) and it looks like the music system in minecraft has changed in 1.7.
This mod is AWESOME. Definitely cool, although it needs a few things (Actually animating you and your foes attacking, (Perhaps a FF-esque 2D battle screen?) and stopping their normal MC behaviour until it's their turn), but it's certainly unique and cool. Bravo, mate.
