I am new to Talecraft and was wondering if there was a website like AdventureCraft to download other maps created by the community.
I know there are at least two maps currently being made, but I'm pretty sure they're nowhere near ready. The mod is still pretty fresh, so I wouldn't expect a whole map collection for a while.
I really like the Idea and how it works. I've already tried to install it but everytime no matter what I try it doesn't work, now the installer works but when I try to run minecraft after I did all the steps it just gives me an error, so I don't know what to do. Also I'm not sure how to do a manual install so yeah. Please let me know if you want me to add more to this. If you're fine with it, can you give a full installation tutorial for Talecraft?

TaleCraft requires Java 7 to run. Install Java 7 and try again.
I know there are at least two maps currently being made, but I'm pretty sure they're nowhere near ready. The mod is still pretty fresh, so I wouldn't expect a whole map collection for a while.
Adventurecraft was my favorite mod back when it was still being worked on and I'm glad someone else is remaking it.
It looks really good, keep up the good work!
Hello, and again, welcome back to the Aperture Science Mining&Crafting Corporation Enrichment Center.
* Pipeline:
* - Render all of the Geometry (Models, Terrain, Characters, Bullets, NPC's, everything) into multiple-render-targets (Diffuse,Normal and Position)
* - (NYI) Render Lights into the scene using the MRT from the last step, by using kind-of additive blending. (Its wrong, but it looks cool!)
* - Render all the post processing effects by using the single sRGB texture from the last step.
* - Repeat the last step for ALL the effects. (Including O-Rift effects, Displacement, etc.etc.)
* - Render out the final image to the screen.
*
* Things to note:
* - ALL buffers/textures/renderbuffers HAVE to be CLEARED, or you will get undefined behavior.
* - The pipeline is basically DEFFERED[GEOMETRY >> LIGHTING] >> POSTPROCESS[while with FBO's?] >> OUT.
* - Lighting HAS to be rendered before the post-processing.
* - Lighting can be rendered with shadow-maps (!).
* - Use CascadedShadowMapping(CSM) for high-resolution shadows from a sun-like light-source, but allow more than one (Deffered Lighting?).
* - Use some kind of 'pipeline definition'-file (?) to define the post-processing and lighting effects.
* -
* -
* -
*
* Stuff:
* - HOW TO RENDER PARTICLES?! (After the lighting step maybe? But then they wont have any lighting!)
* - Use a fourth MRT to give fragments special properties! (Or store the lighting information for the particles with it?) 4 Channels...Hm.
* - Maybe I can send more than 48 floats into a GLSL shader by using textures!
* - Maybe I can make a special system that gives EVERY type of entity its own shader...
* - Maybe I can do some blobulator physics with all this! (Use special rendering-pass maybe?)
* - Maybe I can do some fancy noise stuff by combining the pixel-position, the camera position, and a random float I am sending in?
* - Maybe I can use some kind of noise for a screen distortion effect?
* - Maybe I can use post-processing to 'split' the screen 'apart' into thousands of pieces?
* - I still have the stencil buffer! I can make portals with that...Nope, bad idea, or is it?
* - Maybe I can use Frame-Buffers to make portals possible?
* - Maybe the Bullet-Engine allows for portal-physics?
* - Portal Physics = Make a ghost copy of an object at a different location. (Allows for self-collision?)
* - For portals: Objects need to be detected if they are entering/staying/leaving a portal.
* Just test if they are in the bounds of the portal and if they are behind/infront of the portal or are too far away,
* are touching the portal, or ANYTHING like that, by using simple Linear|(NON)Euclidian Math.
* - I can use the ghost position of objects to get the new position of the object when it goes trough the portal!
* - Maybe use the new shader-system in MC-1.7 to make deffered lighting possible? (TaleCraft?)
* - Maybe its possible to use cascaded renderbuffers for high-definition resolution portals?
* - The stencil system would make it a lot easier to make portals. I should try out both! Is that possible?
* - Maybe I can do deffered lighting TROUGH portals by using some kind of cascaded depth-map rendering with them...
* - Light Renders: Render Scene, take Portals into account. Then in the lighting shader, just render all the lights from in front and behind the portal.
* - I can use Rhino to make scripting possible. Its easy to set up and its VERY fast. Just need to make sure multi-threading is set-up correctly.
* - MAYBE I can make a multi-dimensional physical simulation with Bullet?
* - I could try making a CSG Editor!
* -
* -
* -
* - [MC] I think I know how to do custom blocks!
* It works by sending the client (when he connects) a so called "Block Descriptor Table", that defines custom Blocks from the server.
* This BDT HAS to be deleted and cleared from memory as soon as the client disconnects, or the client will experience unexpected|undefined behavior.
* .
* Limitation 1: The custom blocks can ONLY be edited when the server is NOT running.
* Limitation 2: There can't be an infinite amount of blocks. Probably at max 100 of them.
* Limitation 3: The rendering of the custom blocks happens client-side, but it would be too much to send special rendering-data to the client.
* So I can NOT make custom block-models easily possible. But I COULD try to make an actual custom-model block.
* Limitation 4: The blocks can't have any real functionality, except server-side scripts for interactign with it.
* Limitation 5: The BDT is being limited by the maximum packet size of Minecraft: ~32700 Bytes.
* Limitation 6: ################################################################################## (IGNORE!)
*
* Things that DEFINETIVELY will work:
* - Custom scripts for block interaction, destruction, placement, explosion, movement, loading, unloading(?) and collision.
* - Custom textures (including animated textures) using the now corrected and fully working Resource-Pack system.
* - Custom sounds? Probably, thanks to Dinnerbone!
*
* - [MC] Custom GUI-System?
* It CAN work by sending the client so called "GUI Builder" packets, that just create a GUI as the packets come in. Will have to be concurrent!
* And then, with simple "ClientClicksButton->PacketGetsSendToServer->ServerCalculatesAndResponds" actions this will be pretty fancy. (Commands?)
*
* - [MC] Custom Commands?
* Yes, thats entirely possible. They could be made by using a special map-configuration file that adds new "Script-Commands" to the server.
* The funny thing is that Minecraft already allows for such things, so they will work INSTANTLY.
* A problem will be (as always) that the server needs to be restarted for them to work.
*
* - [MC] File-System Access?
* No, and there are reasons for that. Its a REALLY bad idea.
*
* - [MC] Custom Shaders?
* With MC 1.7... YES, I can do that!
*
* - [MC] #SECRET##############################################################################################?

Eat my blog talecraft:
Don't forget this thing was still inspired by adventurecraft, that's why I am letting myself be noticed here as well.
Edit: And sorry I didn't meant to take the first topic of this page
Thats pretty nice.
With what did you make that again?
A small list for programming awesomeness:
(ANY) Game Maker: not Impressed.
Java+LWJGL: Nice.
C/C++: Impressed.
Assembler: Master of Coding.
On another note, I am still trying to fit in into this school, and its pretty awesome until now already.
I have to wake up 6:10 and go to bed at 22:00 to meet all the shedules, which is not bad.
And I have 5 hours of free-time every day. (Weekends exluded, these are pure free-time)
Oh, and I only have 1 GB up/down-stream per Month, thats the bad thing.
Also, this is what I am coding on until I am head-clear enough to go back to TC again:
Its a deffered renderer with the Bullet-Physics engine included!
(No download, I dont have enough Bandwidth for that)

PS: I am quite happy that people are actually starting to make maps. When done with one, give me a link and it will be put in the main-post. (I still need to somehow get a free webhost (With unlimited traffic)...)
I am new to Talecraft and was wondering if there was a website like AdventureCraft to download other maps created by the community.

*Ahem* Meow.
TaleCraft requires Java 7 to run. Install Java 7 and try again.
Make that three(-ish).
It looks really good, keep up the good work!

Thats pretty nice.
With what did you make that again?
A small list for programming awesomeness:

No, as I can't update it right now.
My internet is too slow and I am still very stressed from moving to a new place.
