Currently, Minecraft is set up mostly as a single player game. Goals are based with the single player in mind, and end game is reached pretty quickly. Even in SMP, there can be cooperation, and we've all seen some truly epic builds, however, the pace of the game is still mostly set for the single player.
KingdomCraft will change the focus of the game to encourage teamwork, and allow players to work together to create kingdoms and progress through tech to make truly magnificent works.
Everyone on the team should go sign up, and if you would like to contribute, you should sign up too. Everyone will be able to post and help us brainstorm.
If you're on the team, that includes you: holderchris14, and kjellyo1, be sure to apply to that web site with your IGN, Skype name, (even if I already have it), and the role that you already have, or the one that you want.
At this point, direct membership to the team is closed, for now, (probably will reopen later, and almost certainly by phase 3), but as I said everyone is welcome to follow this forum post, and to sign up to the http://minecraftrese....freeforums.net forum to submit ideas, argue with us about what they'd like to see, or just read along with how we're doing.

Project Team
Project Manager (Filled):
dontremb
Presenter:(Filled): EvilBunnyRabbit - This role will assist the team members by making the forum posts look good, helping to present the information in an interesting, informative, and easy to navigate method. Web site creation might be something that is discussed down the line, but that skill set is certainly not required for this role.
Graphic Artist Lead(Filled): killwithkostja - This should be pretty self explanatory. We are looking for someone with good computer art skills to possibly make banners, sketches and/or drawings of concept art, and possibly work to create in game textures. This position is a 'lead' because it will probably be necessary to have more than one graphic artist before all phases of this mod are complete, and we need someone to coordinate everyone.
Specialized Graphic Artists(kjellyo1): - Want to contribute, but only have a specific skill? This is perfect. Banner makers, pencil artists, game texture specialists, etc.
Programming Lead(Will.Eze): - This is also self explanatory. There will be a need for several programmers, but we need a strong lead programmer to bring experience and knowledge to the project, and to help coordinate the efforts of all the other programmers.
Programmers(ModderWizardDude, RoboGMan, holderchris14, kurayami94, nabosueco98): - Practically any level of skill or specialization of programming for Minecraft will be useful.
Researcher(Will.Eze): - Are you the kind of person who is able to research nearly anything online? This will be an incredibly vital role in this project.
Brainstormers(Everyone): - I want direct input from the best minds in the world - Minecraft players. If you're the kind of person who enjoys talking about ways to improve, or just want your ideas heard, and maybe bounced around, this is the job for you.
Recording Organizer(dontremb (for now)): - Are you good at organization? Do you enjoy recording information and compiling it in a sensible way that's easy to understand and allows others to understand it too? This will be also be a critical role in this project.
KingdomCraft will be a trio of mods that gives the option to change Minecraft Multiplayer into a much more cooperation style game, requiring the efforts of your entire kingdom to be successful.
There will be three phases to this mod. Each phase will be playable as a standalone, though phase 2 will build off of phase 1, and phase 3 will build off of phase 2. They are being created and released in this method to facilitate the gradual development of the finished, phase 3 mod, though each phase will still be playable depending on how much of the mod you want.
Phase 1: Kingdoms Zones: Summary:Zoning creates a safe-ish zone where you and your kingdom can build without as much worry as building outside. Players of other kingdoms can't place blocks within your zone, and players attempting to destroy blocks in your zone do so at a severely reduced speed.
Method:The player can create a Deed Block and place it anywhere. This gives the player a 20x20x20 cube where his safe zone exists, centered on the Deed Block.
Expansion:Once a player had a Deed Block, he can create a Reception Block and place it anywhere in his zone. Another player can use this Reception Block to request to join the first player's kingdom. Then, the 'king' can use that reception block to allow the player to join the kingdom.
Every additional person that joins your kingdom gives an additional 20 blocks to every side of the safe zone cube. So, 2 people in your kingdom (1 player + you), would give you a 40x40x40 cube zone. 3 players would give you a 60x60x60 zone, and so on.
The distance at which you can place a Deed Block from another Deed Block starts at 10, but increases by 10 for every member of that kingdom.
Once a player joins a kingdom, his original Deed Block is destroyed, and all safe zones created by that block, are gone.
Minerals: All types of ore blocks will drop the actual ore block, like iron and gold. So diamond ore will drop diamond ore, lapis will drop ore blocks, etc, as if you used silk touch. These must then be brought back to the kingdom for various kinds of processing. In addition, ore blocks will not stack. This may sound horribly inconvenience, but it will encourage groups of people to go on mining expeditions, and work together to mine.
Additionally, minerals will no longer be spread throughout the land in tiny pockets. There will be actual vein deposits with huge amounts of the mineral. This, in combination with the fact that ore blocks do not stack, will encourage semi-permanent mining structures to be set up, possibly with rails and carts. This also gives rival kingdoms incentive to try to take over a good mine. And it gives your kingdom a reason to defend your claims.
Water: Water will work slightly differently, similar to Finite water. Also, ocean water will be salty, and not allow plants to grow. This will encourage towns and kingdoms to organically grow around inland sources of water, like lakes and rivers.
Siege Weapons: These will facilitate attacking and defending kingdoms that would normally be very difficult to damage.
Upgraded Ore Processing: In an attempt to encourage multiple types of players to work together with different jobs, there will be a few new machines created to process ore blocks. Jewel cutting for diamond and lapis, forge and bellows to process metals, etc.
Phase 2: Technology This phase will drastically change and add to the world generation, and introduce many changes to how resources are gathered, and how items are crafted.
The goal here is to allow a single player to go off on her own and have fun being a hermit, if desired, but also allow kingdoms to have to work together to make higher tiered technology and buildings while ensuring that each player has fun performing these tasks, and that it doesn't become boring and tedious. (Example: Work up through several types of tools and buildings to reach kiln technology, to make bricks before you can make a brick house, or a forge, for example, might be a good idea to encourage teamwork. Gathering ten thousand bricks to unlock metal working is a BAD example, and will not be the focus.)
Overall, the point of this phase is to bring world gen and tech and crafting closer to real life, while streamlining the boring things and still allowing players to have fun even while having to put in the time and 'work' to raise their kingdom.
Phase 3: Skills This phase will introduce skills, but not generic, pure number skills. (Though there might be SOME of those.) These will be skills like, Jewelcrafting, which might unlock different things you can do with an ore block, and different things you can craft with a diamond, ruby, etc.
Unique skills and special abilities will also be able to be discovered or unlocked. These will be researched by players, or found in lost dungeons, hidden relics pieced together, etc. This is a system that will eventually cause nearly every player to have a unique skill set, either allowing them to excel on their own, or provide incredible power to the kingdom they are a part of.
Background about me, Project Manager, dontremb I am in my 30s, I was in the Army for over 10 years. I have been leading and managing project teams for a good portion of my adult life and career. I believe in this project, and I want to make it as amazing as inhumanly possible so that not only I, but a huge portion of the Minecraft community can get enjoyment out of it.
I make this promise to anyone considering joining the team: This will be a fun project, and it will change the way a lot of people play Minecraft. This is a mod with a very large scope, broken up into phases that make it more manageable. If you are interested, you do not have to commit to any length of time. I'm aware that there will probably be many people in this team as time goes on, but everyone who contributes will get the recognition from helping.
Credits: Every single person who contributes to this project will receive credit. Possibly in game credit, and maybe even as easter eggs. Every poster in this forum will also be credited by name for their contributions, no matter how small. Examples include:
First poster, Made a Helpful Suggestion, Made a Helpful Cricisim, Highest Number of Posts (with actual content. spamming a letter over and over again might only get you the "most annoying poster" credit.), meanest poster, nicest poster, etc.
Everyone who posts for nearly any reason is contributing to this project, and I welcome all of it.
Thanks for reading. If you have any suggestions or criticisms at all, please post. If you'd like to join the team, just let me know.
Very amazing idea! I would love to be apart of this.

first of all this is a amazing idea!
I hope you can realize this great project.
IGN : killwithkostja
Interested Role : Graphic Artist Lead or Specialized Graphic Artists !
Why i want to join the team: Beacause this sounds like a amazing project and i wish you can realize this like planned!i would love to see this idea becoming real and "alive".
strengthen and information about me: i consider myself a artist! i love to draw and give a white piece of paper some life. i'm interested in many forms of art! i made banners and similar stuff, i draw portraits, i tried to make some pixelart (for example minecraft textures). i have experiencewith photoshop and other programs.i'm very ambitiously
What makes me the best : probably i'm not the best but i will give my best to realize your vision the way you want it even if i have to draw things 100 times.
Ok, killwithkostja is our Lead Graphic Artist for now, and EvilBunnyRabbit is our Presenter, and a brainstormer!
It's starting to pick up momentum guys, In fact, everyone is already working on projects as we speak!
I hope to hear from more members of the community if they are interested in taking part.

Well, there will almost certainly be some Anthros when Phase 3 is released, that is a long, long way off, and probably will only cover a small portion of the player base. I'm not sure that name fits in with the design as it stands now.
But I certainly thank you for your idea! (You have made it into the credits of the mod.

Anthros means human, since what you did is related with humans' technology, living form and such.
And swap, well, because you do a revolutionary change in Minecraft.
Hrm. That is a good point. I'm kind of wanting it to be a bit more descriptive of what I'm trying to do with by the end of the mod though. Any other ideas you might have? What about MMOCraft?
That seems like it covers exactly what I want to portray. It's set up to sort of be like an MMO, in minecraft, and the players themselves craft the very rules and laws of MMO themselves, in game.
Variations:
MassiveCraft
MultiCraft (MultiCraft was actually my original idea for the name)
PlayerCraft
KingdomCraft
Please let us know if there's anything you think should be added to this post in terms of information, or questions you may have, or even suggestions you would like to see in this mod. (For Phase 1, primarily, but feel free to add suggestions of things you'd like to see in any phase.)

If you still need any more people for brainstorming i would like to help with that. I want to help with the mod because it seems like a nice mod that would add alot to minecraft and help to add more of a point to a multiplayer game. Im also working to become a modder so this could help with both making mods myself and helping to improve kingdom craft. At a later point i might be able to also help with coding, as im currently learning java (that could be a long time off before im good enough to do anything significant for the coding however).

Looks very good. We have a banner for now, though I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having more. In fact, that would probably be a good thing.
However, primarily, right now, we need some coders. I'll send you a PM in a minute.
Thanks for posting!

Why do I want to join the team?:because I see great potential in this mod and you guys seem needing some coders
bringing to the virtual table: if you have been playing Minecraft for a long while you may know me, i'm the creator of Titans, Golem War, CubeBots and best of all, Minegicka, which i'm remaking for 1.5.2, I solo coded all of them and mostly the textures are done by me. Actually i can also be the researcher, or brainstormer, you know that people have to do a lot when they solo code their mods
Either i'm chosen or not, i hope this mod will go big and surpass Aether to become the next huge mod
Wonderful. Just wonderful. I'm sending you a PM now.
