This is amazing. I'm going to download it and use it and love it as soon as I'm done bringing someone both to and back from the Mun. Now, how hard would it be to make my own models of traffic light and streetlight? I have many ideas.
Modelling isn't hard at all. You need to download a program called Techne (google it). Then you're pretty much just "building" it with tiny little blocks, except you can also fully rotate them.
It's not hard to make something simple like a street lamp at all. Anything you do make, show me- if it's something that's nice and different I might include it, if not I'll show you how to modify the code so it uses your models instead of mine

Would that special someone happen to be Jebidiah Kerman?

Not exactly, but one of his many brothers. Problem is, I had a lander and an orbiter. I landed the lander (first time for this model), but when I switched back to the orbiter, the game crashed and I lost that whole flight.

Now THAT would be awesome. Think parhaps you could have part packs sorta like Flan's gun mod? Then people can make their own packs for your mod without you needing to moderate and include them yourself. Also, traffic lights are weird. How are they gunna work with redstone? I think there should just be a Signal A and Signal B and they always work in unison, like the pedestrian signals in Vodhin's traffic light set for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (like, you'd always place A for north/south and B for east/west). Speaking of which, pedestrian signals? ...nah, too small. But yeah, I wanna make streetlights and trafficlights in three flavors - Ones local to me, ones from Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas, and the ones from Radical Highway in Sonic Adventure 2.
EDIT I just tried the modeler you mentioned. It hates me and I hate it. The camera and only being able to change stuff with arrowed number boxes.... it murders me. Can I just send you drawings?

Redstone-wise, traffic lights will be off by default. Triggering redstone will turn it to a red-amber state, which always turns itself to green after 2 seconds. Removing redstone will turn green into an amber state, which always turns itself to red after 2.5 seconds.
The poles which you use for traffic light mounting will be improved when I work on redstone. They will be able to pass a current, and also you will be able to make them go horizontally, they will connect a little like IC2 cables.
Feel free to send over examples, but I can't promise I'll add them any time soon. I already have a stack of models I need to add

Mmh, that might get kind of annoying, having to make a redstone signal box at each and every interchange. I still think there should be an extra set that automatically work and sync.

Keeping them in sync would both be more resource-intensive, and also restrict people quite a lot too. What abouit a 4-way junction, where they only want green on one side at a time? Not sure about other countries but those are very common in the UK.
Well, in special cases, sure, but for just a standard intersection those should be there to save time and allow laziness. They wouldn't have to sync to each other automatically, but simply follow the time of day clock. That's why there'd be an A and B. Also, I think I'm gunna go around in the games I mentioned and take pictures of the streetlights and traffic lights I was referring to and parhaps I can e-mail you a .zip of 'em?
Hey, zapper990 guy. If you have something to add, but you were the most recent one to post, just edit your last post rather than post again and again. In relation to the mod, would it be possible to make the textures of the lights glow the same way spider eyes do (the mob not the item)? They look rather dull at night.

I have to admit, this is genius
EDIT: Yay, 200 posts....... I don't think anybody cares

Sure, email away. I don't plan to use an extra ID simply for laziness though I'm afraid.
Oh? Tell your friends over at minecraft-mods.ru that if they don't remove this from the site I'll be taking legal action on 1st Sept 2013. If you could do that it'd be mighty nice

Yeah, I'll give it a shot. I plan to do that on street lights, traffic lights, and the cats eyes too.

really got no idea what youre talking about with minecraft mods stuf but sines its ovies you dont want it posted i edited my post so that it dosent say that so if you want no trace of it inyoure post just edit youre quote of my post out and it will be like it never existed
allso when a road crosise over a rail way line sometimes they pour asfalr around the tracks makign this:
best picture of it i could find
so could you mkae something like this but so that minecarts could still go on it?
Ok, email sent. Now I still wonder about the redstone controlled traffic lights. 'Cause unless you use other mods, the system would prolly have to be quite large to get the kind of delay you'd want. And that'd be hard to do if you have buildings right next to the road with basements. I'd like to get this mod incorporated into a map I've been working on here - http://www.minecraftworldmap.com/worlds/e333i Having to set up traffic controllers at each urban intersection would take forever, on top of how I'd need to almost manually replace each and every non-highway streetlight.
For the simple thing you want, this is how the redstone would look. You would put it under the road instead, but it's still incredibly simple...
It takes 2 levels because I put 0 thought into it, but I'm sure it could easily be done on one level. I've not really done anything with redstone in the "redstone update" so no idea what the comparitor does etc.
I do plan to add a sort of "clock" when I do the redstone support properly, which would tick a current on or off every X seconds.
Thinking about it, you could actually just put one of those clocks under each light, and just invert the current for the lights you want to turn off. That would take up about 4 blocks (Pretend the redstone block is my "clock")
To put it shortly, the redstone way is the way I'm gonna do it. I'm not gonna restrict the players who want more advanced systems to make life easier for the people who only want simple ones, it's not fair on the advanced players.
I did mean that it would be included alongside the Redstone controlled ones. But if such a box can be so small, maybe MC Edit can make it easy to copy/paste. Anyway, did you get my e-mail?
Also, the comparator prolly wouldn't help for this, unless you wanted to get crazy and have some sort of sensor change things. Maybe make the lights change slower at night?

That would use more IDs and also cause confusion. The clock is probably your best bet.
Copy and Paste works too. You could always set up a local MCPC+ server for your map and use WorldEdit - That's what we are doing on the official server for most of the roads.
Server? I might want to check that out. But my primary concern is what do you think of the lamp posts I sent you? I don't mean to nag, but each of the times I posted about it and another thing, you only replied about the other thing.

It's fixed in the pre-release, available on my facebook/twitter pages
