I like them all, especially the train reflected in the water.
Naiten, I, too, know that feeling. Once in my life I have stood by the track and watched a steamer pull into a station on a private museum. It was amazing. I wish that it was a mainline excursion so I could watch it thunder by under full throttle. *sigh* I was born in the wrong era.
The water cooled .50 cal will be awesome!
Geared locomotives (for my maps which I'm creating) are what, if allowed, I will be what I'll be using most of the time because they're amazing. Hurrah!
So a while back I posted a bunch of photos of what I was doing with Rails or War. Glimpses of a railways twisting and moving with the landscape. Since then I threw in the GLSL Shaders Mod, using the Slidurs Pre 1.7 shader, I created the below photos of the progress as well as just a few photos showing off the mods.
The next few are actually from the 1.6.4 snapshot, and don't include any mods other than just Rails of War.
Next up in my builds is a bridge crossing an ocean at one end of the line, at the other I'm planning to connect it to a "main line" and start building with two tracks rather than just one. I'm excited to see where I go next with my railway.
These pictures are amazing.I wish I could get the shader to work. Hey Naiten I thought of something that as far as I can remember shouldn't take for ever to do.The thing that I think is missing is a realistic sound when you lay track(like driving a spike into the ground).
I'm not dead, I'm here and still do my part for the mod.
Here's some non-railroad upcoming for you - a water-cooled fifty caliber machine gun:
Will be there soon!
I love what I see with this mod. I have been following the progress eagerly waiting any new information. I am impressed by the stated intent and the tech vidios released.
What I nave to say now is a small thing. Yet it will mean a lot to the mods realistic feel and intent.
The gun shown above was manufactured by many nations durring the first part of the 20th century. each nation made it to chamber their natinal cartridge. Yet none were as big as .50 caliber. The water cooled machine gun above was a .30 caliber weapon.
I am looking forward to more info when it is posted.

It is the cover art for a book by Edger Rice Burroughs called 'The Mad King.'
This is my small tribute to a great artist.

Well, that's a bit of an improvisation here. There were such things as Vickers .50 and Browning .50 water-cooled for sure, though they looked a bit different. My model is based off the Vickers .303 and Browning M2 .50. Also it is .50 just to remain mounted and to justify the enourmous size. It will have a little bit slow rate of fire, but, as I may assume, about 8-9 hearts damage by one shot and a hard knockback.

I see, I was unsure the what gun you were modeling. My statement about the .30 caliber size is based on the water jacket shroud around the barrel. All the Maxim style water cooled guns, that I am aware of, chambered .30 cal. The browning .50 is not water cooled. Nor is the Russian 12.7mm.
Also .30 cal. is a large round. The british mounted the .303 in the Spitfire. The size of the round and the weight of the water jacket ment this type of gun was mounted almost exclusivly on a tripod or a wheeled carriage.
The damage sounds right for .30 cal.
The .50 cal. is a bigger gun. the round was developed as an anti-tank round. The damage ought to be about twice as much.
I like the screen shot. I could tell right away what it was represented.
Edit: I was wrong. There were water cooled .50 cal. Yet the barrel was longer and the mount was heavier.
I do not mean to dictate to you. Call it a .50 cal. I intend to enjoy this mod regardless.
I voted for more early stock. The early stock is what really drew me to this mod. I am more a tallship fan than a train guy. But I do love the early days of steam power.

In other words, besides DAYdiecast (should he ever show up again) this is a one man operation. I truly wounder how you'll pull most of the stuff you promised off by doing it all by your self. But from what i have seen, give you the time to do and you can pull it off. Good luck.
I'm not even sure how big is amount of modders who can pull such kind of stuff.
I thought I'd post some images here again, from a new map I am making, in hope that more others will do the same.
A small town in the end of my fjord. The railway is made to follow the terrain in a fjord map I made, to make it look like an old railway, simmilar to the railway where I live. The harbour area lacks a bit of details yet, but it will all come in the end.
The train needs destinations, so some factories is good to have. (The cars is from Flans Mod, Manus DayZ package. I know they might not fit in with the old trains).
The railway goes past some abandoned houses, on its way to the next town.
My favorite picture. Transport with iron rails vs. the traditional transport with ships, in this case a ferry. I try to make the fjord detailed, and therefore builds telegraphpost along the railway, ships in the water, buildings, waterfalls and so on. It is not so detailed yet, but the map is quite new.
It bends and curves along with the landscape.
It is always a good idea to keep the water away from the railwayline, by leading it under the tracks, or like in my case: Over it.
There comes a time where every railroad meets an obsticle. So it is best to build a bridge or two to cross the rivers.

Vere nice Doffen if I could build like you I would make endless maps with RoW. I hope this map doesn't get deleted like you'r last one. I would think that when you finish and if you want you'r work posted here for other's to enjoy I think Naiten wouldn't mind at all.

I don't know about you Doffen, but i thing your map just won my vote for the official RoW map!

Kind of like two s curve switches but condensed so double lines can be two blocks apart and have this in between to switch tracks.

Awesome! Since a lot of my rail way designs run double track it would be nice to have.
