Interesting concept. I never had a problem whacking karate zombies, and I like the "oops" mechanic involved with fighting them if you're not careful.
I've never been one for fighting mobs due to being more materialistic. I rarely leave my home area or the tunnels I'm in, so I never see mobs much. While I think that I also am fine dealing with fighting mobs that are added by mods. I'd much rather spend time finding materials to create the needed objects. I like the idea of being forced to fight mobs in the beginning but once you've created like in JW&A a soaking machine per say after you've done something like soak tea leaves it would be nice to gain a spirit. But in order to actually get the spirit you would need a bottle in your inventory at the time of it finishing otherwise it is very unforgiving. I think it would balance out. Though it isn't my mod so it's a suggestion I look forward to seeing an opinion on
I do hear what you're saying, but it'd have to be something quite high up. Perhaps higher-tech versions of (for lack of a better word) machines have a small chance to gather spirit when used, with the risk of, as you put it, something "very unforgiving" if it isn't set up for collection. I'll put it in the mixing pot. The upside of not being able to code is plenty of planning time!
Yup, it's purely a visual thing, and entirely subjective. I think Jack o' Lanterns in general in Minecraft look ridiculous.
You elaborated very well how you thought it fit within the spirit of Minecraft though, so I can see where your thought process was going. And yup, those were the pics I was thinking of, although I thought you also had tested out some cube-like blocks that you REALLY didn't like. It's been too long to remember accurately though.
Trust me, you're not the only one that thinks they look ridiculous. But I can't just reskin the vanilla pumpkins, I mean I ... wait ... I've had an idea. (yes, I decided to actually type the words that went through my mind.) How about pumpkin seeds crafted with netherwart give netherpumpkin seeds, which grow on soulsand, which are used for the soul storage? Then I can skin them myself ... Hmmm ... thoughts?
Ahh, you're referring to the summoning blocks that looked like multicolored Endportals ... They were one of the many failures I've made, they were just wrong for so many reasons.

I like that- more stuff that only grows in the nether would be pretty cool.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Netherwart grows in the overworld these days.
*pours one on the curb for the days when dimensions had different properties*
Unless you are referring to Nether tea, in which case ...
Also ... In a sticky situation ... Decided that something I've had planned for high end play should be moved to much earlier in the mod's progression ... The idea is something which limits resources available somewhat for periods of time ... Don't want to give too much away unless I decide to keep it as late game but yeah, trying to think ...
EDIT: Also also me notice last bit no good sentences is sorry for that must be. </Derp>

Wow, I had to go to the wiki to look that up and didn't realize that happened waaay back in 1.3.1. I disagree with that mechanic and will simply continue to grow my netherwart in the Nether.
Nether tea is better anyways.
I imagine your netherpumpkins will be coded to only grow in the Nether!
Sorry for being alittle dead but I was wondering: Eriottosan, in JW&A are there certain requirements Bamboo needs to grow? Because I can't, for the life of me, get my ONE piece of bamboo to grow. I put it underground with only dirt and torches + glowstone. I then put it by the ocean and surrounded a small-medium size area with cobblestone so it wouldn't spread too far but it hasn't move horizontally or vertically the entire time.

Yeah, I think the only time I've grown in the overworld was for aesthetic reasons - all my usable netherwart is grown in the Nether.
Nether tea has an overhaul planned. Well, tea in general. And it will be easier and harder to get (:.
But yes, Netherpumpkins will be netherspecific. Now, if only there was a way to stop people using chunkloaders so that they actually had to go to the damn place ...
EDIT: Could you (or anyone) do me a big favour? As I can't run MC atm, if I shot some textures your way, could you replace the pumpkin and enchantment table textures with them and send some screens so I could get a feel for them in game? (obviously, the enchantment table will have a book when the Infuser won't, but yeah).

Heh it needs shed loads of light (level 10+, IIRC?) to grow, and grows similarly to Sugarcane, but a little more slowly (needs two more updates code wise). So the underground one, unless it's spammed with torches, probably won't work. As for the one in the ocean, that should work, but it won't grow at night unless lit up enough (whereas sugarcane would). But it's a rather fun one, 'cos if you've just placed one then you have to wait quite a while for it to grow. But then you have two, and both will be able to spawn a new one and so on, so it's almost exponential in its growth rate.
Also, for the record, the bamboo I coded for CC is a little more ... invasive.
Ah! okay that helps! I double checked your information and when you said it grew similar to sugarcane I didn't think one bit and so I threw it in a dark box of dirt. I'll make some more and place it by the ocean. Maybe torches all along the cobblestone wall might help.
Thanks Eriottosan!

Outdated old info on that mahoosive splurge of text I called a post ... I definitely need a simpler way for communicating mod design intentions.
The request in the edited part of my response to Pelirow applies to anyone btw, hint hint

While visulisation of textures is easy enough, doing it for blocks in high quantities (i.e. what will be the netherpumpkins) ain't easy.
EDIT: Scrap that, realised you meant the JW&A post. I'm realllllllly not with it today xD. But yeah, if anyone feels like they can do the above favour let me know.
Hello,Mr.恵里夫さん
Development of this MOD Do you still continuing?
"Japanese Weapons and Architecture" MOD was a sophistication to the extent that we Japanese people surprised
I'm really looking forward to it the completion of this MOD!

Yes, this mod is still going ahead, but - as I've said - I don't have a computer on which I can code atm, so it is on hold until then.
ありがとう。
Thanks Reaver. For some reason, the fronts of the Jacks aren't displaying the custom texture, and the tables aren't mine at all xD. But no worries, Pelirow has already mailed me a bunch of screenshots.
To all: It's worth noting that the planning for CC has taken a few twists and turns, and so the OP is rather outdated and generally wrong. I will update it at some point. It should also be noted that despite the fact I bought a computer, it was broken and had to be returned. I am currently reassessing my current financial standing to see when is the best point for me to spend such a ridiculous amount of money.
As I am still without a working computer, then, development is still on hold.
Which is a lie. Development is NOT on hold. I have been planning and scheming like a mad man. To be more correct, the coding is on hold.
Eriottosan dont u think u are kind of copying our mod WarriorCultures ? not accusing you, just wondering.
No I don't. I am not copying (or even "kind of" copying) anything. Are the similarities between the two? Probably, as they are both focused on historic cultures. However, the content is vastly different. My mod is not an imitation, copy, or even inspired by your mod.

It's no big thing, I just need a screenshot of a whole load of jackolanterns together, using the two following 'texture packs':
http://www.mediafire.com/?42v51kz8mkk4jd1
http://www.mediafire.com/?q7rfrp37pgpemee
Hopefully won't take more than a few minutes. It's just a hard thing to imagine a block in multiple numbers.
