As of 11:15 PM PDT on 8/16/2013, I feel that enough time has passed after the release of 1.6 for updating to start for hunting traps mod, now, I understand that 1.7 shall be looming over when this is released, but I can assure you that full effort will be put into development till fully updated. Hello, I am updating and maintaining this mod under request. Permission has been granted to myself by the original author, QuinceScott.
As repeated and slightly updated from the original post: This mod adds traps for hunting into the game that can be used to capture any mob! To set most of the traps, a pressure plate must be placed on top of them. 1) The "Cage Hunting Trap" will spawn a cage around any mob that dare walk over the pressure plate! 2) The "Fire Hunting Trap" will spark, and set any nearby mob on fire! 3) The "Pitfall Hunting Trap" will make the ground below disappear and send any mob in a 3x3 box falling! 4) The "Incinerating Fire Trap" will disintegrate any block that is placed on it, and can only be turned on and off by a distance. 5) "Spikes" are deadly little things that capture the mob, and slowly kill them, watch out. 6) "Grass & Sand Coverings" are based off an older mod, these are thin grass blocks that you can fall through, and here is the cool thing, it incorporates a self built engine that makes the blocks, match your biome grass color and the texture of any users texture pack. 7) "Invisible Pressure Plates" are pressure plates that act like normal pressure plates but are nearly invisible. 8) "Grass Pressure Plates" are like the Invisible ones but look like your texture pack/biome. I am starting to accept applications for mod developers for the expansion of Hunting Traps Mod. These users will have a developer status and will receive access to closed source for this mod. Applicants need to either provide previous modding/java experience or present working code for an original trap idea (No "cage trap with lava instead of bars" ideas). In its current state, I think the cage should cover up both top and bottom too enclosing the inside player/mob for sure. A player on a pvp map can easily dig the bottom and escape, or if they're using the SMART MOVING mod, they can just climb over it. Also, please increase the recipe for the ironcage mod. Right now you only need 8 iron bars, but you get around 17 iron bars- its input is way less than its output. I find that players on my server are abusing this as we also have the UNCRAFTING mod installed along side. With that mod, you can uncraft the iron bars back into ingot, thus increasing/abusing the quantity. Even without the UNCRAFTING mod installed, players can still build a stronger defense by using the extra outputs of iron bars, defeating the purpose of a fair pvp match.
1.6.2 mods should be compatible with 1.6.4. Major versions have the code changes that break mods, but minor versions usually don't.

Sorry, I have been away from minecraft modding for a bit. As an update, before my computer upgrade (going from 2.5ghz dual core to an amd a10-7850K, win7 to win8),I had started work on the 1.7.2 version, I still have all the source for it, I just need to grab a 1.7.2/1.7.10 version of forge and a new copy of eclipse. As for anyone wishing to use this in a series/ modpack, you are free to do so, just make sure you link it here so myself and others can see it.
