I love how most of the comments dropped off the face of the Earth after my last post. I'm sorry it killed the thread, because I would like a Star Trek mod, but I don't want to see Star Trek disgraced.
On another note, I am more than willing to provide lore and technical experience for the Star Trek Universe. I spend many an hour each week encompassed in Reference books, writing plot lines and making connections in those stories to past Star Trek endeavors.
I made this skin on skin craft. How does it look?
I think I should tweak it a bit. I you want more skins or the file, just holler.
I'll try texturing the transporter.
It's not bad! It could use a bit of tweaking like you said, but it's definitely pretty good! As for why the thread's off topic, it might be due to the fact that no one's heard from the "Captain" in some time. I don't know though...

I think this mod could have some crazy potential. It would be really cool even if it just added phasers and a replicator. It would be even better if it added its own dimension, complete with ships and "Planets" to visit. To go to this dimension, you could build a portal out of world-gen material in the overworld. You then spawn on a ship, and you have traveled into a time after the last Star Trek series (2430 or so) After getting your starter ship after spawning, you could get the chance to upgrade your ship using ores mined from planets. To visit planets, you must warp to a sector using the helm on your ship. A simple GUI with options would do. You could get basic information from your sensors about the planet, depending on your sensor level. Then, you visit your transporter room and then beam to the surface. It loads a new dimension, and you are free to mine and explore. To return you could hit a key that opens your comm badge GUI, from which you can be beamed up. If by chance you do die, you re-spawn in your sickbay. Ores collected could be used to power your ship, upgrade, or fix damage. (dilithum, tritanium, duranium, etc) If anyone knows what Faster Than Light is, I think the mod could be really cool like that, at least for ship battles. Nothing too fancy, just clicking "torpedo" or "phaser" on your tactical console, and then waiting for the return fire. You could upgrade and train your crew (NPCs that just wander around or help you on away missions) Upgrading could increase efficiency of your ship, and decrease upgrading cost. To buy a new ship you could go to a Starfleet station and buy it using ores. This is just a summary of some of my ideas, and I could elaborate more if anyone has any questions, and I could help with music/ sound effects and ship building.

Absolutely gorgeous.
To craft a portal, one could build a large Star Trek symbol out of Iron Blocks and Diamond, like this:
You would also ignite it like a Nether portal.
What do you think?

You both see what I was trying to say in my post a while back, and I think you both have the perfectly right idea! This mod should celebrate what Star Trek is, and what you suggest would do that! I thank you both sincerely

I like it! That, or jumping into the void of the end sends you to the ST universe. The void being a spacial/temporal rift that has opened in an already existing alternate dimension (The End). This ensures that the player has decent progression in the game, is decently lore friendly, and would do better in pre-existing worlds as a alternative to world generation ores making the portal.
The thing is though, the void in the end would be part of minecraft and then to get to star trek, you would have to complete (in the loosest sense) minecraft and face the perils of the end, it wouldn't tie in too well, and it would be very hard to get to, maybe make it so that you research the energy potential of redstone in the game, and make a thingy with redstone that makes a massive rift in space-time, or you accidentally make a warp/impulse engine in minecraft that takes you to star trek.
could it have a mob called red shirt that will keep dying when your ship is attacked, or will do something stupid on an away mission such as jump into lava, it would tie in nicely to the tv series.
the speed of light is 299 792 458 m / s
or if you like rounding, and standard form 3X10 to the 8th
also, it needs antimatter to power the ship, how would that be obtained?
and would you be able to chose your faction E.G klingon empire, vulcan high command, borg, starfleet ect...
Sorry, should of clarified, Faster Than Light is an indie game with a space sim feel. http://www.ftlgame.com/
Are you going to add a space dimension with planets? that would be boss! I would be cool if it was kind of like a minecraft world,(which is infinite) but spacey.
We can start texturing that.
its TREKKIE not trekker
Actually, I beg to differ. Trekkie is a term that the media has used to define the fans of Star Trek. True fans call themselves Trekkers.
True fans don't debate Trekker vs Trekkie. True fans sit down and enjoy the show
