From what I've read, both "new" versions of Archimedes' Ships are forks of the original, because Balkon has gone mia for so long. It'd be nice if someone could do the same for this mod...hint hint! The main issue is this mod never had a wide audience. If more people knew about it, it'd be more likely to be picked up by someone else. Maybe poke GotoLink about it? He seems to be into taking up abandoned mods and bringing them up to date. I think it was gotolink....hmm...
So I will confirm that the logging is "fixable" in that you can use a bytecode editor to NOP the logging calls. That done, you won't have any logspam... or logging in general.
The class file in question is AwgerLogger.class, and dirtyJOE is reasonably easy to use here. I simply just swapped everything that wasn't 'aload' or 'return' with NOP. If I knew better I would make a meta-mod to just live patch it.

Okay, well, maybe not dead. But certainly not showing much life around here lately. It's been so long that I had to create a Twitch account to login.
My absence is easily explained by Real Life (tm), which tends to take priority over recreational pursuits. And that's what this mod was, strictly recreation. I never monetized it in any way, so, I still needed a "real job" to pay the mortgage.
Also... the internal changes in MC and Forge, and the staggered and delayed update cycles made keeping up (and keeping the mod working) much more difficult and time consuming.
And, when MC was taken over by The Evil Empire, it really put a damper on my enthusiasm.
I expected base MC to have better boats by now, and that other mods would have done it better -- but I'll have to confess ignorance on that, because I haven't even launched MC in over a year, maybe even two.
Not sure if there's any point in trying to update this mod to the current version. I still have all the code, but I can only guess at was alteration would be necessary to update to the latest Forge... and I'd have to rebuild my dev environment from scratch.
I'm still interested in the Mod, good sir!
And i am still using to this day 1.7.10 a lot. I would be using this Mod for sure more often, but the issues with the Bugs and the Hitbox of these Boats make it a bit hard for me using the Mod for sure. But if it was being updated again for what ever Minecraft Version you would intend to do, including fixes etc, i would sure enjoy putting that Mod into my Gameplay ^-^
I mean, sure, the newest Minecraft Builds have now better Boats, but they still look the same. I want more varriaty! I want actuall real looking Boats/Ships 8P It's just such a shame that there are barely any such mods out there. 2 other Mods are all about building your own Boat/Ship. So in any means, i would damn enjoy seeing this Mod back and running!
Sadly, i'm not a coder or anything in any ways, but still if there is anything like bugtesting, i'll gladly lend a hand in my spare time.

But I have one little problem with it: I have Pam's harvestcraft mod, so seaweed spawns on the surface of large water areas. The boats somehow can't destroy them and get "stuck" as if they are solid blocks.
Also (this is just a hope I have), I have custom npc and have these characters that I created, go on adventures with me. If there is a way to use the Whitehall and have npc's sit inside them, that would be amazing!
Anyways I play on 1.7.10, so I am hoping it will be for that version.

Well this is honestly the absolutely best seaborne transportation mod I have ever used. I used to use the mod to transport everything when planes couldn't land on an island and trains were too far off, and that's just where my issue lies. I'm playing on 1.12.2 and on my world there are a series of archipelagos on which ive built my empire, however the islands are far too small to land most aircraft, and aircraft are expensive, I would love to see this mod updated so that I may effectively move material around the ocean.
P.S. I hope that some day you do build a ships mod like how you described, and face it, the evil empire will never improve the naval capacity on this glorious game.
I know me and a group of friends would, as would many others. This is probably my favorite ship mod ever, as the one where its an amalgamation of all the blocks you collect to build it is really only a glorified hovercraft half the time and is awful to get to work with anything.
yes! a 1.12.2 port off this would be amazing recently started a survival world set in a map full off islands with the idea off using davincis vessels for the larger ship after crash after crash i wish this mod was for 1.12.2 has made me think about starting th 1.7.10 modpack just to use it
I'm really surprised no one's come up with another boat mod of their own. You gotta take credit for coming up with an original idea that's not been tread to death by dozens of other mods!
I really hope you pick this mod up again. I love travelling by sea and your mod's the only game in town. Yes, there's DaVinci's, but it's very ambitious and does not roll well with busy modpacks afaik. I just want a decent boat to explore the seas on!
I also feel like even when 1.5/1.6/1.7.10 were current, this mod passed under most people's radar. If you do restart work on it, please try and get in touch with modpack makers/letsplayers/etc. SevTech, for example. Public approbation is a great motivator!
I'm running Ancient Warfare 2 in my world so there are lots of ships in the oceans with hostile npcs on them (some even have cannons), it would be great to sail the Hoy past and blast their ships to smithereens.
This is the best boat mod I have ever found and is sadly missed since 1.7.10.
