There will be no weapons added to the mod. Even the "new items" added to the soldiers will not be avaliable to players as they are not true items. I have created my own rendering routine to render items in the soldiers hands without making them propper minecraft items.
This makes me very happy. I use the soldiers primarily as accessories in my castles (Which I need to see if I still have), and I think it was the added weapons that eventually killed that. So, yay!
As for the pitchfork, I think it looks kinda strange. Back in Battlecraft, you made several of the weapons (club, pitchfork) have 3-D models, and I think that worked very well. If I remember right, the problem there was that when the soldiers attacked, they struck with the handle of the pitchfork instead of the tines. That seems like a minor issue, though. The model looked a lot better than the current oversized-item method.

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.

I agree that the old one looked much better, however I don't know if I can still do that with the new customization options. I might try again another way later though, but it really isn't 1st priority.
Looking like a release could be quite soon, however in the 1st release I may have to have a single base class edit (EntityLiving) this however will change once I work out how to get Forge's ASM functions working. This will mean there will be 1 extra step in the installation (will have to move something to coremods folder)
Scratch that, It is only required to make mobs target the soldiers without being hit first. I will add this feature in later if people really want it, but for right now I would rather keep the installation simple
Hey nerd-boy I have an idea for the archer branch if you can get the horses from Simply Horses. What would your take of having horse archers also instead of just mounted melee? Example would be like for the upgrade past archer:

Mounted archers have been suggested before in the previous iteration of the mod, the problem with them is the AI would be quite difficult as i would want them to do "hit and run" attacks. So if they do make it it would be quite a while down the track.
I know it would take longer to be able to train soldiers, but it would be easier than coins which might would conflict with other mods like Millinaire for an example that uses coins as well. His mod was where I found out about Battlecraft. By the time you find gold veins anyhow, you should have a base of some speak-able size that soldiers can defend.

I am leaning towards that also, I actually see the "it takes a while" as pro, but i know many people won't like it. As for the incompatibility issue, it's not that they won't work together, its just that you will not be able to use millinaire coins for M&B:C or visa versa.

Ah okay, I see. If you did coins though, wouldn't it end up being a drop from a slain mob or something along those lines? You could have people farming at night time the mobs instead to get a mass amount of them unless the coins are rare drops.
Re-worked the post to get ready for the 1st alpha release. Should be out by tonight. I was going to upload a second video (I made a little stadium) but I might leave that until tomorrow.
UPDATE:
Ok released the 1st alpha, please be warned that this is still VERY early in development. Let me know what you think.
cant install : forge mod loader has found a problem with your minecraft installation
you have mod sources that are duplicate within your system
Mod id: file name
MaB-Commander : MaB-Commander
MaB-Commander : minecraft
it says forge mod loader has found a problem with your minecraft installation

As I said in the FAQ, I need the actual crash log
EDIT:
The only way there would be duplicates of the mod is if you didn't follow the instructions and placed it in the jar and in the mods folder.
Never mind got it working,
I think the militia has too little health
2 militia fought a witch and all died then the witch drank a health pot
LOL
The Militia are suppose to be the base unit. The other upgraded units will be stronger. You expect the base unit to come out on top against a higher tier mob? I don't think so mate.
As it stands 1 militia will go toe to toe with a zombie (without weapons/armour) and come out on top. I do not want to make them any stronger.
Hey nerdboy i have loved all your mods but for some reason i cant download M&B:C from this website because my computer thinks its dangerous and thinks it has virus or such on it. Any way you could put it on another website for download (does not have to be soon i can wait, take your time please)
Please dont implement coins,
this nugget thing is nice and it just feels good paying people peices of gold.
Also, a point to consider. I can see this being imbalanced in the future due to the presence of the invis potion mod. Perhaps have an alternate potion thats easy to brew which you can counter that with because having an entire army invisible is game over man...Game over.

Go back and reread the first post carefully.

It is not ready yet. Although if all my testing works out I might have a very early alpha (which means may be buggy) within the next 24-48 hours.

Other units will come later, be patient. I coded most of this this weekend
