Hey, thanks for all the replies so far. With regards to peoples suggestions for other mods to be added to the pack , I am not opposed to adding more mods however they will have to be mods of a certain standard for this to happen. This doesnt mean only the most famous, it more a question of a) does it fit in with the other mods and Is it sufficiently stable in both a single player and multi player environment and finally c) can we get permission to distribute it. For instance a lot of the mods listed have stability issues on server, whilst others even though they are good mods, dont really belong in this mod pack.
This isnt to say they wont be added in over time though if and when they do meet the requirements. It just means that I have no intentions of overloading the pack with mods just for the sake of adding mods. The pack however will HOPEFULLY be set up to allow you to add in your own mods on top of our pack.
NEI Plugins however are a different story, they absolutely will be in the pack from day 1.
i am SUPER excited for this love the FTB teams work..... religiously watch DW20 and slowpokes stream, i will admit i TRIED tekkit..... and didnt like it..... but i was doing things the legit way before i even tried it...... learnt about tekkit from watching slowpoke get angry about it in his stream =D lol...... will be SUPER SUPER SUPER great to see a mod pack worth downloading..... and if i could pay for it i would =D

i would say that a short answer to this is no.....
and a long answer is hell no....
slow and the ftb team are forever against technic/tekkit and so are many of the mod developers...
if your just trolling however just leave there is no room for trolls here

Long ago, Notch made Minecraft, and everything was good. It was fun, and everyone was happy.
Then, people started making mods. The great titans of the mods rose in that era, the staples of the automation experience. Buildcraft, IndustrialCraft, and Redpower. Slowly others followed: Forestry, Thaumcraft, Portal Gun, and many more.
However, the people complained. Installing mods themselves was too hard, they said. And so, a group of people released the mods they had been compiling and making compatible. And the people were satisfied, for a while.
But then, the titans of the mods notices, and were angry. They were losing traffic and revenue to their sites, losing attention and recognition. They first made a polite request for their mods to be removed. The Technic Pakkers consented, but alas, they lied.
This war of begging went on for a long time...
Until, the conflict came to a head.
Sengir, developer of Forestry, added EXPLOSIVE BEES to his mod, which awakened from their slumber when the presence of the vile Technic launcher was present. And so, his mod was removed.
Now there is peace for SirSengir. But alas, the people still complain about Forestry's removal, and raise a din in the night, giving him no peace.
But a day shall come when the reign of Technic is ended-forever.
How'd I do? Is that about an accurate history?

While I do think it's great to release this, having "Thaumcraft 3" in it makes me think this wont be released for a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Azanor has not yet posted any information when it's going to be released.

From what was said, they don't want to force Optifine on users. So they won't be bundling Optifine, it's still an individual mod right now.
Azanor stated himself that he's pretty sure he's going to call the next version Thaumcraft 3. Search in the thaumcraft 2 thread for the actual post.
I believe his plans where to rename it to TC3 on release, and keep it under a "code name" of Arcanacraft during development.
He probably just decided he preferred TC3 better after thinking about the name change for awhile.
