Hello, hopefully someone who knows the mod pretty well is still checking on this.
I've got a highly customized pack that's nearly done, one of the last things to do is completely overhaul ancient warfare. We're making custom skins and structures for eight fantasy themed factions (using all the available factions in the mod)
Here's my current problem. I can get the skins working and I can place npcs from MOST of the factions in a structure and they will spawn in with the structure when it generates. All I have to do is rename them and add gear, seems to work fine (I'd rather have spawners but from what I've read those are broken).
The main trouble is that the custom_1 faction npcs don't seem to spawn in with the structure they were saved with. I just get an empty building.
What am I doing wrong with this? Should I try spawners? Also is there a way to change the default names of all the npcs so I don't have to rename them all when I'm placing them?
you can change the language file to change the names and just swap out the skins in default pack for the ones you're using - what I ended up having to do for the pack Im building anyway
I am a 46 y/o retired veteran. I love this mod, and I very much want to help in its development. But while I have plenty of time to devote, I know nothing about modding. (Last time I did any programming, it was in Basic on my old C-64.)
So, are there any menial non-modding tasks that I can help with now? (I love boring and repetitive tasks...they relax me.)
I am also interesting in learning to mod. Any suggestions regarding modding subjects I should focus on that would eventually give me the tools to help develop this mod?
I've had a similar bug, where it changes the required planks like that. Weird.
Solution turned out to be that whatever random planks the recipe chose was required, so I got a ton of random planks on me and kept resetting the recipe until the planks I had was right... x.x;

It really should rely on oredictionary so that whatever planks you put in would work.

Is this compatible with factions? like not that the mod works per say, but that it is playable and isnt just a wild mess with NPCs not knowing who they are against

I'm building a modpack with this. Are there any config changes I should make with food (I have Harvestcraft too) or accepted blocks with structures?

Ok, what's actually wrong with the spawners, after some testing it seems like it works ok.
Yes, most of us want to see some siege engines in the game!

Hey so it seems that something is seriously broken... soldiers from the npc factions hit me but the hit doesn't register at all, in survival.
What's up with this? :/
You might be in Peaceful mode?
no my server is set to hard mode, they try to attack but do not even land hits

Oredictionary was somehow broken in the world, I reported it to the server admin.

also, I got the 1.6.4 version and I was trying to spawn in some fortresses to take a look at yet none came up on the list?
Can I get some help and some pointers as to what I should do?
How do i use the tools upgrade items?
My fave TF is Trepan.
