Message for Soaryn
I'm sorry for your loss, Soaryn. I've been through that more times than I care to remember, and I hope that you and your family will be okay.
OMG U Answered me lol but seriously can't u just release a version that goves me the shiny blocks and the tanks for 1.7.10
Can you do like TE and show a few teasers?
Femtocraft! A new awesome tech mod with a focus on balanced exchange.
If you are a mod/modpack developer and need a banner/logo, contact me and I might be able to make you one (yes for free if I'm inspired). You can see my work here.
Wikispaces (the place the wiki was being hosted on) stopped providing free wikis to non educational wikis. In other words... It is gone.
AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!
how...considerate
Awww, i wish i could get this for my "modpack".. its 1.7.10 and no downloads
(its private, just me and like 2-3 friends dont worry )
Ey
He has put a hold on developing so he can focus on college is what i have been hearing, but the question is why can't he release unstable versions for us that are so impatient? I understand the community told him to take his time, but he could release an update here and there once he gets each feature done. I dont know who will agree with me but it seems like it would have been pretty reasonable because he hasnt publicly worked on xycraft in months, maybe a year.
EDIT:
Or even if he found someone willing to help him finish xycraft if he is too busy to do it by himself.
Yeah...makes sense
I'll not comment on the first two paragraphs, but... yah...
the new features need to stop for a bit...
He keeps doing that, it's almost inevitable Xycraft will follow down the same path as Redpower, and all the other lost/failed/failing mods and games.
I specifically mention Redpower, though, because in my opinion, it was questionable decisions with development protocol that killed it.
When making software of any kind, there are rules to be followed if you expect a stable release, or to not be overwhelmed, etc...
One of the biggest rules being broken here is "focus on bugfixing and updating the current features, THEN add new stuff"
I am one of the coders for a fan project to mod an old flash game.
The lead developer and I both have had to constantly remind people that we are not going to throw 20 new features in all at once, and that
we are developing things more gradually, so as to avoid buggy releases, and to not create such a big mess it couldn't ever be cleaned-up.
Let me just say it's taking us time, and this project has been in development now for many years, and I've only recently joined in relation to that timeline, but... We are not in great jeopardy of having the whole thing fall-apart from resources being spread too thin, or bad development practices, with one exception being we've chosen to specialize our roles (so loss of one developer could wreck/stall the project). No, we're actually probably very close to our first major release!
It saddens me to watch games and mods die-off because of completely preventable issues, such as having resources spread too thin.
I really hope this isn't the fate of Xycraft, but it seems this is the case...
if only Mojang/Microsoft would follow this with boats in Minecraft.
lol...
maybe someday we'll see boats that actually...WORK
