Here's the ship tossing and rolling in a storm (This was created moving around while it was raining):
And here's some "plants" that still wont grow:
and heres some plants that i grew with some bone-meal:
The Boat's sail had to be crafted with cobwebs because of weight issues with the wool. Also this boat is extremely stable and if it does get tipped over it'll right it self in a few seconds (i tested it with gold blocks and tipped it completly over and it still righted itself when i removed the gold blocks).
Also i think that any blocks severed from the ship should become there own entity.EDIT: torches work on the boats but don't actually raise the global light level
EDIT2: The Boat was actually almost to big for your render code, cause when i was finishing it i noticed that it started to update slow enough that i could see through it for a second or two.
imacooldude: check my post before yours. I think it'll answer your question.
Firefright11: Instructions are in the download. You should see a few .txt files in the download.
coderorigin: Great pics! I'm glad it actually worked out, never really tested a big sail ship, lol, but that was the idea. I'd even post the pics up top, if the main post wasn't so dense as it is.
Not surprised about the cotton issue. If you look up cotton densities, you'll find that a real 1 cubic meter of cotton is pretty heavy. What I need to do is work on a cloth mod (cloth, which obviously takes up less volume than blocks of cotton a meter thick, would obviously be a lot lighter per area.) Then you could use ropes to raise sails made of cloth, that also behave according to physics algorithms. My efforts are split in a lot of directions right now. Wish me luck.
EDIT: codeorigin: The see-through issue isn't a heavy load on the rendering. It's a bug. It's actually cropped up several times during my testing, and I've fixed various forms of the issue many times. Found a new instance of it. I'll be trying to debug that soon.
Oh, as for you name.....Ummm........engineer-craft comes to mind.....but that name is already taken as well........umm......how about
"The Inventors Toolbox" (nothing relating to minecraft came up when googling)

I do stuff like that, forget to check the folder...Thanks!
Ahw! Too bad this mod makes my minecraft.jar messed up (Wich is already modded) and when i have some mods on it.It is just liike "No sh*t you don't install those mods with my mod".By that i mean like the mod i have:Powercraft. It removes it completely. What the hell is this?
I actually say this is a good mod! I love physics.Too bad there are some incombabilities, mind to fix it? Thanks!

I'm new to this mod
...Not sure. Do you have any other mods installed? Might need a clean build of Minecraft 1.2.5. It's basically saying there's something not in the code that should be in the code, but it's nothing related to any of MY edits (I never messed with fire.)

In any case, I'm pretty sure "The Inventors Toolbox" is an un-trademarkable name. So I'd be in the clear, lol.
How many people have successfully made a trebuchet with this mod? I made a fast dangerous crawling thing by firing my not trebuchet...
I must see this fast-crawling-not-trebuchet-death-ray-amajig...
You could put something in between two REALLY taut ropes, then cut one of them --> uber-slingshot.

I'm trying to look into all-encompassing solutions to incompability issues. If I make it a forge mod, then I wouldn't know if it was compatible with non-forge mods. If I make it compatible with forge but NOT forge-dependant, it may work with a forge build, but as soon as you start loading mods, strange things may happen, I don't know. Same thing applies for Modloader.
I'm hoping I can get help with creating a patch installer: something that adds all my edits to core Minecraft files, without just overwriting those files (overwriting them means overwriting other mod edits. Which you're obviously experiencing.) I'll post if I come up with anything.
Heres something you should consider... SPACE SHIPS, I noticed that the block entities can go above the sky limit (possably forever?) so space ships would be awesome, just needs to be a way to fly them
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiftttteeeeeeey. Although I really I hope I can get to the point where ropes serve practical mechanical purposes (the stretchiness inhibits that.) Looking into more rigid rope algorithms at the moment, I may implement one as part of a chain mod (or just have two rope types, bungee rope and rigid rope.) These videos make want to move onto cloth physics quickly. I'd definitely like to see how people mix ropes and cloths together for sails.

I've actually brought something more advanced than that up in a previous post. I've also been talking to a few futurecraft team members lately. I hope I can eventually work out a rocket mod as a mixture of my hot air mod and a modified controlled explosives mod. Than add an extra Space dimension to the game. After that, possibly provide other worlds to travel to (alien dimensions.) The futurecraft team had already thought of something along this line about a year ago, only they were think of space travel as a means to travel between different server worlds for communication and trade (AND WAR!) You should check out their site.
My list of bugs I've found or suggestions since i've been playing around with this and i'm just going to compile a list.
this is all in creative mode
1. You often phase through blocks that are underwater or are going really fast, also you walk through blocks on land.
2 .blocks float at certain heights even when gravity is off, has only happened in one world. all other worlds they remain stationary EDIT. i know blocks float but this was after pressing the "p" key
3. placing a block close to you, like ending up inside of it will freeze the game sometimes, no crash reports and it's running but i can't move, happened to me twice and once it corrupted the world, when i loaded all i got was an inventory bar and a black screen, EDIT. I think i know why this happens, i did this once again on accident and i flew away really far and fast and lagged a lot so i could be an extreame case of your collision making things go super fast and causing too much ram needed to run the game, if i run into it again i'll mc edit me out of the blocks and see what happens
4. going through a block at high speeds causes soo much lag that the game freezes and goes to the out of memory screen, not even 4 gigs is enough to get through it. this causes the world to freeze in opening and it can't be played, happened to me quite a bit. EDIT. (same thing as above ^) I think i know why this happens, i did this once again on accident and i flew away really far and fast and lagged a lot so i could be an extreame case of your collision making things go super fast and causing too much ram needed to run the game, if i run into it again i'll mc edit me out of the blocks and see what happens
5, looking up or down in one of these crafts your camera will freak out.EDIT i found out this is because for some reason you start spinning around a lot
6 I can''t seem to make anything aerodynamic? is it possible? i went up to like 3000y and it turned around and started back toward ground. I was making space ships btw...it seems as tho they can go forever and you can still build on them.
7. i recommend putting a speed cap on, you can get these blocks going insanely fast
8. little thing but the numbering in the mod instructions file says 1 2 3 3 4 5 6
So there are two 3s
9. a buttons to reset the orientation of what you build to the world grid
10. your ropes attach above 121 blocks but i couldn't build a structure that was more then from 4 - 121 or 125 blocks high. also i build a structure above block height 300 and it could only be 125 blocks high, you can have whatever length it seems. you can also build in the void but it's a bit glitchy.
11. I used a rope at height 255 on a block and jumped i started speeding up and bounced a few times then went so fast i froze, i ended the game with task manager and came back into the world and the rope was gone and i was just falling out of the sky.
12. Render bug info
As for your render bug I build something about 3x your building and i fixed it easily by just moving it around and loading the chunks so I'm amusing it has something to do with the chunks it's in or your loading system? I did notice tho anything with physics can be in an unloaded block and When i did get the render bug they started updating in 16x16 chunks as well. I did get it so big tho that every time i placed a block it would blink out for a like 0.1 seconds then start rendering again but it did render unlike in your video. also it only happens making it wider not longer.
every time I placed a block I got these in the log
root.render.gameMode.level.terrain 287634828
root.render.gameMode.level 290357758
root.render.gameMode 435158652
root.render 436433789
root 465100093
and I also fell off from like 5000y something and fell through the ground all the way to the void and I died
