First, I throw my hat in as one of those who enjoy's Az's teasers. I don't really watch all those live streams and youtube thingies; having to watch something that long just to see 1-2 minutes total of teasers can be a drag. Even moreso if Az enjoys making the teasers- I wouldn't want that fun to be abandoned! If they're more a chore than enjoyable for Az, then that's different.
Second, I am guardedly optimistic people will try to take advantage of the TC3 API (assuming there indeed will be one) to make add-on goodies. There have been an enormous amount of great suggestions in this thread and Az can't do them all. Hopefully coders who enjoy TC3 and want to expand it even more can really run with it (advanced golems, anyone?!). Has anyone been thinking about potential add-ons they might want to do/see? I'd love to see Vis Bees back in some form, and I just hinted that more advanced golems would be nice (since it seems in TC3 they're mostly for transportation rather than "pets").
Yup, if you know Extrabees, it's basically the same execpt it adds in TC2 bees that can eventually produce vis shards that can be combined into crystals. Very neat add-on! Came out late in 1.2.5's life and it obviously won't update until TC3 is released, if at all. I believe the creator of that add-on said he/she was going to wait to see how TC3 is set up before deciding to update or not.
You can find it in the Content Packs section. There were a few other TC2-related add-ons created, but mostly for small stuff. I'd love to see more add-ons for TC3.
wait so there is an alpha version of thaumcraft 3? can anyone download this or is it closed to a certain amount of people? if its an open alpha can i please have a download link?
Pre-alpha code, Azanor stated that he's only released it on the Forgecraft server he plays on, so that other players there can test out the core mechanics and improve stability. There's currently no plans for him to release the mod in any way, shape, or form. So no, it's still not publically available right now.
Even with just EE on its own, an array of collectors/relays can produce material at a staggering rate, without any input from the player at all. That's the first major problem.
The second is the items. Gem armour tops the silly list, with its spammable free, zero cooldown explosions and lightning bolts. Sure it's hilarious for five minutes, on your own... but you're meant to play it on a server with other people?
EE is just not server material at all if you ask me. It's great if you play on your own and want to be nigh invincible, but the second you put it on the server you jeopardise any economies, trading, or PvP opportunities on it. It's unbelieveable how many people want EE just for the condensers so they can turn anything they drudge up into diamonds, it robs the core game of any real challenge (given that there are absolutely no powerful creatures to take advantage of the equipment or pose anything of a danger to you to balance it all out,) especially if later on you can just literally create stuff from nothing.
By the way, this is something I've been meaning to ask for a while but I keep forgetting to do so. Is there any chance at some point in the future we can craft the eldritch stone which has the starry animations in them? I'd love to make an observatory (or ceiling for a house) which uses the animated blocks to make a night sky on the inside. Even a version of the block which doesn't have the eldritch borders and just had the animated texture would be awesome.
EE is just not server material at all if you ask me. -snip-
I agree with this, but I still hold out hope. EE3 is going through a major balancing overhaul and from my understanding Pah is also making it so pretty much every single thing is configurable for servers. I do see potential for a heavily balanced EE3 having nice snyergy with TC3, but it's a guardedly optimistic thought. I'll reserve judgment until we see EE3 unleashed. I do know it was one of the original inspirations for TC because Az loved it but felt it was woefully imbalanced. I think we all did until the imbalance just because mindless. Which brings me to my reason for commenting: can y'all imagine the awesomeness that we could have with a well-balanced EE3 paired with TC3?!
What about Industrialcraft and buildcraft? When those are thrown in the mix, (meaning they are compatible with EE and TC) then $#!% will hit the fan and spew messy imbalance all over the place. I hope that their balance is based on use with other mods.
I'm sorry to say, but my mod isn't anywhere close to a release. I probably have more than 75% left of it to do. Luckily the hard part is done now, and what is left is mostly porting stuff from TC2 or modeling/texture work.
I also doubt I will put any Tier 3 and Eldritch type stuff in for the initial release.
As I've mentioned before - the only reason there is an alpha version on the Forgecraft server is to test all the backend stuff like the aura and research - content is still lacking.
A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask, what do you use to do the modelling of items? I ask because I'm going to have a crack at learning how to mod and making the Indices I suggested a while back, I know I'm not likely to get very far but I want to try either ways.
hey Azanor what about the tree farming? greatwood and silverwood? do graetwood still have a sapling? and will silverwood be farm able? or did you abandon the TC agriculture project? also what do you think about my "farming golem" suggestion?
edit: and yes those are a lot o questions sorry I'm really curious feel free to answer with several no comment
I guess you guys at forgecraft can get turtles to farm for you, though . . .
well yes but... not everyone is a programmer... and Azanor have to make his own mod that works and is balanced by itself... starting from this assumption even the golems are no use... you could use RP tubes and BC pipes instead...
