Welcome to this forumpage of Atmosmobs, the mod that adds mobs that add atmosphere to your game. I just started modding recently and Im proud to present this mob pack! You may think that I already modded the Butterfly mod, however I was only the artist there...Now I did all the coding myself! The mobs have seperate downloads untill I get to version 1.0 Let's see what I've managed to create so far:
MOB: Chameleon
My first mod and mob! Dont be to harsh on this little guy and remember: it's a WIP.
Where does it spawn?
I made it so it spawns in Swamps, Forests and Jungles.
However it's not a very common spawn...at least not in my game. If you guys get an overload of Chameleonsm, please tell me.
When does it spawn?
It spawns in daytime on grass blocks...just as farm animals actually.
Is it hostile?
No
Is it breedable?
Not anymore. You might get a baby by throwing the Chameleon Egg though.
Does it do anything special besides being there?
It changes color depending on which block it stands! If it doesn't recognise the block as a generated (natural) material then it will change to it's original color. You can make a Chameleon follow you by holding a Spider Eye!
What does it drop?
It should drop Slimeballs on death but it actually lays Chameleon eggs like chicken when alive! Although they do it more often than chickens.
Is there a new drop involved?
As I said: it lays Chameleon eggs...so yes there is a new item! It's throwable like a normall egg and has a small chance of spawning a baby Chameleon! (Just as a normall egg with a baby chicken).
What does the baby Chameleon do?
First of all: It won't despawn, so you can keep it in a cage or house! However it doesn't follow with a right-click, it still needs the Spider Eye to follow you! The baby will be grown in about 20 min. Also, it has a greater variety of colors it can change to! This is because it's environment is actually in-home! So it can change to Wooden Plank color for example! It doesn't really have a use yet though...
Exactly what blocks make the tamed chameleon change it's color?
Well, for most building materials they change color, but I won't spoil all the blocks :3 You should try Glass
Bugs:
- Giving it wheat will still cause hearts to appear but will not cause mating behaviour. ( I might re-add it to get rid of this. It's not that bad that they can mate and give instant birth...just not what a Cameleon does...)
Item IDs used: Chameleon Egg = ID 900 (dont know if this one interferes with any other mod)

MOB: Piranha
Second mob! Large groups nibble your feet!
Where does it spawn?
I made it so it spawns in Jungles and Rivers only in the water! So it won't anoy you when sailing the seas!
When does it spawn?
Any time of day, I think.
Is it hostile?
Yes, when the player enters the water it attacks.
Is it breedable?
Well, no.
Does it do anything special besides being there?
It swims and attacks players. It wiggles it's fin and noms around as he moves xD They 'drown' on land.
What does it drop?
Raw Fish
Is there a new drop involved?
No

- Make it so they also HIT other mobs. They do attack them but seem to have the not-hit-while-in-shallow-water problemm.
MOB: Crab
Third Mob! The long-requested crab! I finally was able to make my own crab
Where does it spawn?
On beaches and around rivers.
When does it spawn?
Daytime only on grass and sand blocks.
Is it hostile?
No, but it uses it's hurts you when you touch it .
Is it breedable?
No
Does it do anything special besides being there?
It flees from the player just like ocelots. No way to tame it YET. They won't drown in water.
What does it drop?
Raw Fish
Is there a new drop involved?
Not yet.
Bugs:
- They act all weird when in the water.

Future Ideas:
- Make them drop a unique item so chasing them is worth it.
MOB: Dragonfly
Fourth Mob! A fast mob that flies around randomly in the swamps!
Where does it spawn?
In swamps!
When does it spawn?
Daytime only and on grass.
Is it hostile?
No
Is it breedable?
No
Does it do anything special besides being there?
Nothing really, it flies very weird and sometimes goes very high up :/ They shouldnt be able to fly in the water but I haven't checked it yet. Their wings are fast like the real thing but sometimes too fast
What does it drop?
Netherwart
Is there a new drop involved?
No

- When around water they fly up to prevent them from going underwater but they still occasionally go in. However they are then forced to go out very quickly.

Fifth mob. The desert version of the chameleon without the color changing :3

In deserts!
When does it spawn?
Daytime only and on sand.
Is it hostile?
No

Yes
Does it do anything special besides being there?
They wiggle their tail!
What does it drop?
Slimeballs I think, need to chang that.

Sixth mob! It took me my entire sunday to make but it's finally there! Enjoy!
Where does it spawn?
Everwhere on lit grass.
When does it spawn?
Always

No
Is it breedable?

Does it do anything special besides being there?
They fly around and are attracted to torches when they are near them.
What does it drop?
Nothing yet.

I finally combined the mobs into one mod! Version 0.4 of Atmosmobs is available for Mc 1.2.4.
why dont you make a tank/habitat block, craft from glass and store your chameleon in there by right clicking the chameleon (picking it up) and then right clicking the tank (place in tank) with the chameleon in hand. make the tank/habitat 2x2 blocks big. what u think?then u can catch any chameleon tame or not and they wont despawn in fact u can keep them in your inventory if u want hahaha
not to mention ALL the FUN u can have chasing chameleons around make most of them run away from you like the ocelots does

They look great! I concur with your statement that they are cute.
Moving on to obsidianCore's Idea, if they ran like ocelots, they would either have to be slower, so that you could actually catch them, or be too tempted by the thought of a spider eye to run away. Or both! Having the option not to bait the little guy could be quite a bit of fun as you chased him back and forth.
Wow, excellent progress on this mod so far! I think this can turn out to be very, very popular. (Especially because unlike many of the other animal mods, this one has awesome models, textures, and animations...)
Here's my ideas.
1. After the Small Atmospheric Animals are done, create a slightly separate branch of the mod that is more mythical creatures, which may or may not be hostile. I'm talking about those other creatures in your dropbox folder
2. More Animal Ideas-
-implement the crickets and centipedes from the other mod
-implement lizards and frogs from your old suggestion
-implement the flying birds, perhaps some of them can use Firehazurd's model (if he gives you permission, of course, which probably won't happen since he hasn't been online)
-implement one kind of butterfly and a moth
its awesome dude, haven't downloaded but from the vids i see this is great please make crab breath under water and dont make them bob around on the surface but walk on the bottom if they go into water

Why do you have models of these mobs if this is a IDEA? Were you planing on making a mod with these mobs?
Im making a lizard atm and I might add the moth if I know how to make him go to the torch >.<
