I dun goofed. 8D!! Lmao at the stallion running away from the foal flood. Yes, I derped-up a loop in the code. No, my computer is not doing well at the moment. Yes, I've probably lost several followers by posting this image! xD
Oh, I fixed the issue a few minutes after posting that picture. It seems it wasn't (directly) a looping problem at all; I'd programmed the stallions to find and mate with a certain amount of mares (depending on how many extra horses the herd could afford without going over a total count of 10 including the stallion), but the check to make sure the mare didn't have a delay (aka hadn't already mated once), wasn't working. Every foal up there (in each group) is the product of one stallion and one mare mating over and over again.

The code to count mares and foals worked fine, actually. The error just kind of broke it!
(In my defense, I never said this code was finished. 8P I said the Wild Horses code was finished except for the automatic mating code, which had to wait until the foals were finished! *Shifty eyes*)
The stallions would fight and winner takes both herds. The loser loses his stallionship, and all his "mares" place the winner as their stallion.
And if the two herds somehow get close enough where the "mares" mix up and the stallions don't fight (for instance, the "mares" mingle but the stallions never get close enough to initiate a duel), when the stallions move away, the same horses will follow the stallion they'd been following |D.
Pretty much, mares follow the stallion they've been assigned until that stallion dies, is tamed, or loses a fight.
hi there is a mod called the cart mod and the creator of it encourages other modders to to make items that interact with it, so ask them if u can use their cart for the horses
Obsidian, heh, I've seen the Cart Mod, but I didn't know they encouraged add-ons/patches and what-not. If that's true, I would -love- to make the two compatible, probably as another Complexly Horses add-on

Commander K, =P Mustangs are the "war horse" breed of the mod. They do most of this (and have a health bonus). They won't have armor in Simply Horses, though I may do a Complexly Horses add-on for it :3.
Rokudaim, this mod is so small and I'm working so fast (relatively), I can't find a good point to break it off into a prerelease. Right now, I'm thinking the prerelease will be once I finish the Mustang and Arabian. There will be a beta release once I finish the Clydesdale and vehicles (which will finish the mod). Once the bugs are ironed out, I'll release Simply Horses SSP as complete and get to work on SMP. Once that's released, I'll get to work on Complexly Horses add-ons.
And this is all assuming this all happens before the official mod API comes out. But that's all rambling. The first prerelease should be out by next friday at the latest.
DwProd, hahah, I'm working on the riding code now, and having some issues with it. Once I get it working, I'll totally post here or PM you about it ^^ <3.
Sorry for the lack of replies or updates guys. I've been working on the mod whenever I had freetime since.... forever. So I took a weekend-long break to chill and visit a couple conventions around Atlanta, so I haven't even looked at the code since.. hmmm.. Thursday. I'm back on it, now.
On the plus side, I got a foam pickaxe and a cardboard Steve head! Productive!

Thats good to here! I have seen modders ditch a mod because they don't take a break just checking in to see the EPICNESS of this mod one more time and how I want to make an SMP server when this mod comes out!

Actually guys, I plan on releasing the unobfuscated code to mod developers to use in mods of their own (with some restrictions), so maybe somebody will make an RPG using Simply Horses one day :3.

Also, I realize its been a few days with no update, so here is a small update: I'm currently trudging along on the riding code, and it's been slow (a bit of burn out + frustrating code + more important college work + discombobulation from the conventions + hot days = blahvidavi), but I just made some progress just now, and wanted to let you guys know I haven't abandoned this mod and that it is progressing.

Decided: Mount and dismount while sneaking and right-click. Otherwise with right-click you remove/add the saddle or use the lasso.
Thinking about: Color-changing halters. Because naming your horse is too mainstream? Big maybe. May not happen.
