I think you should. It would allow the mass to see how's your progress on this mod's doing, and what you can change here and there to make it better. You need the opinion of many people so you can know how you've been doing on this mod. It's OK to me if it's just weapons and equipment. In truth, it would be amazing. It sounds like it could be the greatest Weapons and Armor mod with different ideas for different cultures :). So, go for it, release this mod and take in the feedback. But it's YOUR decision, i'm just stating my opinion.
This mod looks freaking amazing. Please release a test build, even if it's just weapons and armour.
I don't know if OP uses a language besides English as their first language, but I think the main post should have spelling errors corrected. I don't mean to be offensive but sometimes it can be all in the presentation.
I like to build, and I would be open to the idea of building structures for this mod if given direction as to what needs to be built. I would love to help in any way I can.
The team for this mod have obviously put in an astounding amount of effort, I love all the textures for the armour and weapons and I just love the concept and thought that seems to have been put in.
Looking at the gladiator aspect though, will the gladiator arena be a structure that spawns with NPCs to run it that you apply to fight in, or will it be a player built arena, or something that relies on multiplayer?
Also, will there be SMP compatibility for the mod?
Will the specifically-named mobs (ie Alexander the Great, Robin Hood, etc) be enemies that spawn in unique dungeons that suit there culture (as in will there be only one of them per world) that drop their specific armour set, or will it be a random spawn?
Will the different cultures be located in biomes that suit their real life locations ie Plains/Desert for the African civilisation structures?
Will there be biomes added to supply for the needs of different civilisations if the previous question is a yes?
Sorry for all the questions, but a million ideas ran through my head at once and if any of the answers to these are no, I think that they should be considered before being written off.
Good luck with progress, I hope this mod gets far!
Well, since you can't contact the OP or skype him or whatever, then the best possible choice is to put a download link here in the responses. Please, we really need to see your progress on this mod, and since Obsidiancore isn't responding to this forum and busy with his job, then I guess you have to post the link here, and re-post it alongside a change-log every time you update, ok ;).
P.S. The models are coming along, i'm just having some problems with the jade worrier since the model needs to be very detailed.
P.P.S. If you want, to make the throwable weapons, maybe you can use the same code as the snowball, but it HURTS when it hits a mob :).
That's all I got, please show us a test build, especially with Obsidiancore's mysterious disappearance, can you contact him via skype?

I do not know all of what obsidianCore had planned, but I know he had alot of ideas; So I will not be unable to adequately answer most of your questions.
The weapons and armor has not been started, yet. I was the coder doing all the plants, blocks, and other small stuff, so I do not know exactly how obsidianCore wanted them. We had a coder, I believe, working on the weapons and armor, but he stopped getting on Skype about two months ago.
I agree, presentation goes a long way towards getting people interested in a mod.
ObsidianCore made all the textures, and has all the ideas.
SMP compatibility isn't something we plan on adding soon. We planned on only adding it once the mod was finished.
Yes, the cultures will be located in biomes that suit their real life location. If no current biome is suitable for a specific culture we will add new biomes.

I would like to get some weapons and armor done before releasing a test build. Unfortunately, I do not know most of the item's or block's names, nor do I know what obsidianCore had exactly in mind.
The throwable weapons using the code for the snowball is a good idea, I'll look into it.
I haven't been able to contact obsidianCore on Skype.
If worst comes to worst I suppose we could somehow obtain all of Core's material for this mod (or take his idea and attempt to recreate it) in the event he does not return. It could be possible that he's lost access to a computer ie it's broken, or, like so many other amazing modders, work or school or university has collided with their only free time. I guess we can only hope, although it seems we'll be hoping for a long time! I guess I can just practise my building skills in the event my assistance is needed!
Are there any other mediums through which you can contact Core or is Skype the only communication you had with him?

I sent him an email yesterday, so far, no reply.
I have all his weapons, armor, and a few items and blocks textures. Add that to the splendidly designed buildings that our builders have built, and we still, yet, have an excellent mod!
I'll be working on the new playerGUI, once I have that finished, I'll work on getting the armor in the right slots.
If anyone has an idea of how to change the armor rendering on a player, please let me know, I have no idea how it works.
Also, if anyone is good at ore, tree, or building generating, we could really use the help!
Started building an amphitheatre loosely based on the Arles Amphitheatre last nighjt - unfortunately I feel it may be too big to use as a randomly generate structure (136*109) but still I like building xD I am gonna build around it however so when I am further towards finished I will upload some screenshots/a video of the whole thing
Well, I know someone who worked on rendering accessories such as gloves, capes, necklaces, even shields! If you want, I can talk to him, try to convince him, if that's ok with you?
Actually, looking at what you said DragonSpitter, the creator of Realms of Argoth MAY (although quite unlikely due to how much time he spends on both his mod and his life) be able to shed some light to help with rendering of armour and weapons, although he completely recreated the rendering to allow for smooth, more 3D models (as in less blocky [much less blocky]) so unless they are the plans (which I don't recommend due to the taxing effect on older systems) it may not be so easy as that.
wait, wait WAIT! VelouriumCamper, I wasn't going to recommend Realms of Argoth at ALL. That mod is a game by itself, it can't merge or be used with other mods. I have another mod that does that, and I want to work on trying to get the rendering idea and different equipment slots all together into this mod. I still need permission from Scoped and the Shield modder before we can make the transition.
P.S. The mod I was recommending is the RPG Inventory mod.

Thanks! I'll pm him to see if he is willing to tell how he rendered the items on the player.

Thanks, but, I don't want to use his mod in ours (if that's what your suggesting). I would just like to know how they rendered such items so that I have a good idea as of what needs to be done.

I would like to have some armor, weapons, and villages in the mod, before releasing it.
I don't know, right now alot of mods would work with ours, but as our mod grows, alot of mods wont be compatible. We will be adding alot of new things and anything that changes the player's movements (like smart moving) or anything like that will most likely not be compatible.
Which ever is easier for you.
I might release what we have done so far, so that we might get some feedback, but I am not sure at the moment.
Sure, add me on Skype: craftedscorpio, and we'll see.
Not yet. I'm not sure how to go about it, yet. Either ask a moderator to add the download link to the main post, or just post the link here.
Anyone of any suggestions?
