You could make it that the onion gives you the seeds, and then you plant them like a regular crop. When they grow big enough, you destroy the crop and it spawns a pikmin (similar to silverfish when you destroy their blocks)
thats a pretty awesome idea- Id do it just the time it would take to build a sizeable army is a bit too long :/Also- UPDATE V0.2!!!!
Added 5 new enities (1 monster- 2 pikmin and 2 onions) unfortunately im still working on the pathing adn interactions- once thats done itll be about player interactions :biggrin.gif:
What you can do is have some item to call that when you right click will call all surrounding pikmin and turn them into items in your inventory. Then the player can throw these items and where they collide they will create a pikmin (similar to an egg with chickens). Then have an item that can be used to "dismiss" pikmin in your inventory and cause them to just disperse near the player out of the inventory. This way you should be able to easily code this (loop to check surrounding blocks for entities of the pikmin type on them and easy item for each type of pikmin, and loop to release pikmin. If you are thinking you would need help with this idea, I might be able to give some guidance / help make it work. I haven't yet coded custom entities, but I've worked a little with spawning entities and custom items etc.)

Those are some good ideas haha- i like the projectile entity idea- i was hoping to do it with key bindings or something of the sort- the more integrated the better- or at least in my mind- but if thats a bit to complex those will definitely work :biggrin.gif:

Yea, Well, I would check out the keybindings idea of yours to see how difficult that is. Was offering an idea that would probably just make your life easily is all. You should also be able to like, left click on the actual pikmin entities in order to pick them up into your inventory (check to see if the entity hitting the pikmin is of type EntityPlayer, and if so drop the pikmin item and destroy itself). You could also do this idea to pick pikmin from the ground ( create the entity of the normal pikmin when left clicked by the player).
well i was thinking of binding the pikmin throwing to the mouse as well- doing a check to see if your hands are empty and then a check of which pikmin entity is the closest- which is then killd and the projectile entity is spawned infront of the player

hmm, sounds like a good idea to me. I'm still thinking about the finding closest thing and how that will be done, but you should be able to figure it out rather well.
I nerdgasmed when I seen this mod. Pikmin was the best game ever. And I can't wait until you add all of the other things and expect another comment from me tommorow. I'm going to let me friend tell you all of his ideas (And he has a crazy amount of them XD). And 5/5 Awesome mod!
Well I said I would post again so here he is with his ideas i told him not to think of too many though... :tongue.gif:
1. Bulbmin (Bulbear babies the ones you find
2. Queen/King Bulbear found in the ravines and stronghold
3. New Colored Pikmin (like pink and brown)with new abilities
4. (maybe) breeding pikmin to make different colored pikmin (like red and white make a pink)
5. ability suits for your character (regular suit= breath under water. Fire proof suit.) Basically the upgrades you can get in the 2nd game to your suit
6. maybe build the helmet like this
When the monsters die, you can have them drop 5-Pellets or 10-Pellets depending on how strong the monster is. I was planning on making a mod like this, so I've got a couple of ideas if you need any...
I LOVE YOU! and i love this mod, thankyou, i expect good things from this mod, i hope this mod goes far, smp mode and the onions for the pikmin to be stored and maybe even boss mobs, also if you need any ideas just message me, i used to play pikmin 24/7
I just tried it out. It would probably be good though if you made them a bit stronger so you don't accidently kill them. Otherwise this is great so far.
I think that pikmin should not take damage from players (you cannot hit pikmin, even your enemy's, in the pikmin games). That way you can avoid killing them and maybe left clicking can instead start the throwing process for them?
