Earth dimension update! *Prototype* terrain generation is done for the earth dimension. This is what it will generally look like but I'll likely make it far higher and use biomes to switch between open caverns and rocky walls.
This mod has changed dramatically since I first drafted this post so most of it isn't accurate anymore. It is now going to feature a full dimension for each elemental (earth, air, etc.).
I'm going to be terrible at actually updating this post for the next while. I suggest you check the most recent posts for any updates from me and as hardly anybody except for me posts it should be easy to find them. I'll try to at least post the most recent update in the top of this post.
More than anything this a thread to organize my thoughts because sometimes I wonder if I'm genuinely retarded. I'll flesh out a real post as time goes on.
Items
Essences are the basic crafting materials dropped by their respective elementals. Some have uses in their pure form such as creating a gust of wind to knock back a single foe or to light a fire.
Crystals are the condensed form of elemental essences that are able to be used to craft items with.
Unstable crystals are crystals that have been infused with too much energy and have violent effects. Fire is basically a throwable explosive, air releases winds from where it lands knocking everyone back. May not add all types.
Boots are the only pieces of armor done so far. Each element will have a full set of armor. Certain pieces have special effects, and a full set grants a bonus + makes you not targeted by the respective elementals. Boots effects are flaming trail when sprinting, double jump, turn water to ice beneath your feet, negate falling damage and <insert life boots effect here>, respectively.
Weapons
Swords are mostly coded, but no textures so no pictures. fire - burn ice - slow
life - poison
earth - greater knockback
air - secondary ability to pull them to you
Air wand/staff/miscellaneousobjecttobedecided that summons a lightning bolt on use and has a recharge time.
Fire bow - creates its own flaming arrows and lights blocks/mobs on fire.
New 'air' bow that has faster moving arrows with greater knockback.
Those are all the finished/textured items so far, each element will have miscellaneous other items. Soon I'll type up all the ones that aren't finished.
Mobs
Initially elementals will only be found near crystal formations that will occur throughout the world.

The idea is that somehow using the material from the crystal formations you will be able to trigger an event or make a portal that will cause elementals to spawn throughout the world, each type in their respective biome(s). I have some ideas about boss events to stop the invasion and from which you can summon a type of elemental pet.
No pictures for the mobs as I'm use using placeholder textures and models for now, although they are all coded.
Air elementals are found in the plains biomes and above a certain height level. They don't have a standard attack, instead they target the player with lightning bolts. However, there is a delay between when they target the player and when the lightning bolt lands (you have to keep moving). They move fast, but are easily killed.
Fire elementals are found in deserts (and maybe nether, but it already has lots of mobs) and only once they engage the player they light themselves / surroundings on fire. Susceptible to water...
Ice elementals are found in snowy regions and have a chilling effect, although fire gear will nullify it. They are susceptible to fire and can turn water to ice (funner than you think).
Earth elementals are found in mountainous / hilly regions, as well as below a certain height level. They can tank a lot of damage and hit hard but they are slow moving. Added to that, they can't be knocked back by attacks.
Life elementals... I don't even.
Originally there was an "elemental plane" in the works but I'm trying to avoid adding... too much. I don't want this to be a mod that can only be played on its own or that kills anything else you are trying to do. The dimension may come back, but without it I am not editing a single base file, meaning 100% compatibility. Captain Max Malone is the awesome guy that's doing the textures for me. If anyone else is welling to help with textures/models it would be appreciated because I need a lot for one guy - no matter how cool - to do.
Ideas are welcome but please remember I have only typed out a fraction of what I have been working on / planning so far.
